I still haven't caught up on Agents of SHIELD, Daredevil, Sense8 and 12 Monkeys, but I just can't be bothered, really. I plan on getting 12M on DVD anyways but DD bored me to tears, S8 had a great concept but... eh, and AoS... I love Lance and Bobbi but I can't stand the endlessly shifting loyalties, all the betrayals, now we're with them, now we're with them... eh. I might just follow Huntingbird on Tumblr via gifs and be done with the show because Coulson and Daisy never held my interest and it's all about them... eh. Just... eh. I might return to the show one day but right now, I JUST CAN'T BE BOTHERED!

Apparently, the Huntingbird show - an Agents of SHIELD off-shoot featuring Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter - is back on. ABC ordered a pilot with them called Marvel's Most Wanted: link. This makes me very happy because these two are my favorite part of AoS - and AoS has been rather boring, overall, except for the spark that Huntingbird brought in, IMO. So, a show about them? Gimme. On the other hand, I'm reserving my hype for when it actually happens. They got me all excited once already only to drop the whole thing shortly thereafter. I'm not falling into that trap again.

Henry Simmons AKA Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie was upped to a regular on Agents of SHIELD: link. That makes me very happy because I think he deserves to be a regular. Everybody else was upped and it felt wrong that he was still only a recurring. Mack might not always be the most likable person, sometimes, he irks me to no end, but he's quite fascinating in his conviction. And I think that he actually and really likes both Fitz and Hunter. He might not always be on their side, but he always tries to do his damnest to protect them. Also, on a very shallow note, Henry Simmons is GORGEOUS! \o/ I'm quite curious about what's in store for him next...

YAY! Agents of SHIELD just added Luke Mitchell AKA Lincoln as a series regular in S3! Link. How awesome is that? I've loved him since The Tomorrow People and I think Lincoln and Skye would make a really cute couple!

First Nick Blood, then Adrianne Palicki and now Luke Mitchell added as regulars! I LOVE IT! \o/

OMG! OMG! OMG!

As ABC and Marvel are prepping a spinoff from sophomore drama Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., I have learned that Season 2 cast additions to the mothership series Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood are finalizing deals to headline the offshoot.

Palicki and Blood’s characters Lance Hunter and Barbara “Bobbi” Morse aka Mockingbird have quickly become fan favorites since joining Phil Coulson’s (Clark Gregg) team early this season. Lance is a quick-witted mercenary sharpshooter, while Bobbi worked undercover in HYDRA laboratories. Giving the spinoff a Mr. & Mrs. Smith vibe, Lance and Bobbi are former husband and wife who have let sparks fly in a push-pull relationship on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Marvel, ABC and reps for Palicki and Blood declined comment.

The spinoff is supposed to be set up by events from this season of S.H.I.E.L.D.

PLEASE, LET IT BE TRUE! PLEASE, LET IT BE TRUE! *runs around like a chicken with its head chopped off* Huntingbird, my precious Huntingbird OTP, is the reason why I love AoS right now, Bobbi and Hunter and their sexy banter and them kicking ass together and the way they still adore each other despite being divorced and... and... and... PLEASE, JUST... PLEASE!

I've been as sick as a dog these past few days. Cold and cough, really ugly stuff. And I still feel under the weather...

Allegiance was canceled: link.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Do you hear the dolphin noises I'm making right now? Luke Mitchell AKA John Young from The Tomorrow People AKA the only reason I watched that show is joining Agents of SHIELD as a spoilers! ) OMG! OMG! OMG! Yes! I was so sorry that TTM was canceled but I'm so happy that we will get to see Luke play a similar character on AoS! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Agents of SHIELD 207+208: Love Fitz&Mack, Bobbi&Lance and Skye in general. Wish they would fix FitzSimmons. Ward is a total psycho and his apologists are, IMHO, creepy: he's a great character but a BAD GUY, regardless of what shaped him. As BB9's Jake Peralta said: "Cool motive. Still murder."

The Flash 105+106: Not as good as the first few episodes. Don't like Barry pining after Iris ALL THE TIME! Buddy, the Cool Detective Dude's definitely not her first boyfriend, she must have had BFs before and you dealt with them - DEAL NOW! You're getting a bit annoying! Love all the Barry centric h/c. Love Barry and Joe's relationship. Love the Cool Detective Dude! Wonder what the Wheelchair Guy is up to.

Agents of SHIELD 206: During S1, my favorite relationship on the show was FitzSimmons. Now? Fitz and Mack, and Hunter and Bobbi, or FitzMack and Huntingbird as the pairings are called on Tumblr. I especially adore the banter between between Hunter and Bobbi, it's Mr. and Mrs. Smith all over again. And it's adorable!

Brooklyn Nine-Nine 205: Funny as always. The best part, though, was Jake spoilers! ) LOL!

The Flash 105: I'm not a big fan of Xovers, so... I think this was the weakest episode yet, good but the weakest one of the bunch. Though it was interesting to see Wells spoilers! )

Stalker 101: The jury is still out on this one. The case was interesting but I find Dylan McDermott's character really creepy. It's like he's a sociopath only pretending to have real human emotions...

I unfollowed half of the Twitter accounts in my feed and decided to keep only the entertainment news ones, a few friends and a handful of celebrities whose tweets make me smile, like Linden Ashby's or Hugh Laurie's. I mostly use Twitter for one reason and one reason only: to get info on my favorite shows or movies. And to rant. That's it.

On the TV front?

The latest Agents of SHIELD was pretty cool, especially Simmons' fangirling over spoilers! ) That was sweet. Though the next ep will be rough what with spoilers! ) But I really adored when Fitz admired spoilers! )

Brooklyn Nine-Nine was funny but it pushed my embarrassment buttons a bit too much this week. But I adored that spoilers! )

Constantine was... passable. I'll continue watching it but the premiere really didn't bowl me over.

But The Flash did! Gosh, I'm in love with the show. Grant Gustin... wow, just... wow! I adore that everyone is so protective of Barry, literally everyone! Though, what's really creepy is spoilers! ) So, SO GOOD!

Another thing: I started craving Stalia again so I've been watching many, many Stalia vids on YT.

I also read two of Josh Lanyon's books, that's why I've been so absent these last few days. I was curled up in a bed, reading. Gosh, "The Boy with the Painful Tattoo" and "The Haunted Heart: Winter" were SO GOOD!

One book I had to drop, though, and that was "Mélusine" by Sarah Monette. Rape, more rape, sexual violence, mind games, suffering on top of suffering... It was rec'd to me because I liked Lynn Flewelling's books but those two authors and their books are like apples and celery!
katikat: (Avengers_JaneFoster)
Episodes 202 to 204 were much better than the season premiere, but I still think this show's better viewed in batches rather than ep for ep, week for week.

I like how the new team is getting along, becoming a unit. And I can't believe I'm saying this but Skye is all kinds of awesome - and I couldn't stand her at first, at the beginning of S1. Huh! As far as friendships go, I adore Coulson and May's relationship and now Fitz's with spoilers! )

I think the show's now much better than during S1. It's just too bad most people dropped it and didn't come back. It's now at 1.6-1.7 demo only and if ABC weren't a part of the Disney/Marvel group, I think they would've dropped it by now...
katikat: (CBM_AgtCarter)
Watched NCIS 1201, NCIS: NO 101 and Agents of SHIELD 201 tonight. Yes, I succumbed and watched NCIS: NO after all because so many people loved it on Tumblr. It wasn't anything special but I'm starting to really like the characters, the rapport among them. NCIS and SHIELD... not BAD but nothing that blew my mind. The only thing I really love was Fitz's story on SHIELD. And DiNozzo's new look on NCIS. DAMN, the guy is handsome!

That's 7 premieres watched - and nothing blew my mind. What the heck is going on? Are really all the shows so mediocre this season or is it me? Nothing so far set my heart aflutter.

Of Shows

By now, I have hundreds of episodes of various shows downloaded that I haven't seen yet. Since Teen Wolf, I basically live and breathe TW. Yup, the season was THAT good.

One thing I have noticed this year regarding shows in general and the newbies in particular: an INCREDIBLY SLOW START. Like snail pace and awful shipping and generally boring material that cost several shows their viewership. Look at...

Almost Human: canned.

Agents of SHIELD: it started with 4.0+ ratings and now it's down to 1.8! It will be renewed because ABC is a part of the Disney network - but how can you lose 2.0+ demo points within 20 episodes with a material like FRICKIN' MARVEL?

Tomorrow People: it started with 1.0 demo and its last episode of the season - and almost certainly of the series - was 0.4. But then, it was executed by Julie Plec, she of The Vampire Diaries fame who is a huge fan of love triangles, so instead of focusing on the action, ULTRA vs. the Tomorrow People, from the get-go, it was all about who slept with whom etc. SERIOUSLY?!

And it doesn't matter how good the show becomes around episode 16 or whenever when by then most of its audience has fled in boredom! See SGU as another - expensive - example of a catastrophic failure. But the execs are incorrigible. They make the same mistake again and again and again, like they have blinders on their eyes or something...

Here's the synopsis of Sherlock, ep 302, The Sign of Three: link. It sounds hilarious!

There's a new Terminator show int he works: link. Interesting. I didn't like The Sarah Connor Chronicles, mostly because I found the actor playing John annoying and I really, really, really don't like Summer Glau as an actress.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a pretty funny show! But the highlight of the Xmas episode was definitely spoilers! )

I finally understood what people meant when they said that, following episode 106, Agents of SHIELD gets really good. Because it really does. The Thor follow-up episode was especially great, it made me care about Ward, for the first time I actually liked him, he stopped being just a mechanical Ken doll. I could say, this, THIS is what I've been missing! And I really love spoilers ) And FitzSimmons! They are awesome! Fitz was incredible in 107! And Coulson... How DID he survive? I love the mystery!

So, both thumbs up from me. Even if you didn't like the premiere or the few eps that followed, stick with it, friends. It does get good and the team finally CLICKS!

Ramble On

The book I'm translating now is really pissing me off, a very trying piece of work, let me tell you. It's "The Path of Anger: The Book and The Sword 1" by Antoine Rouaud. I want... I really want to strangle all the characters, either they are blind fools or they're ruled by their genitalia. The last time I got this angry working on a book, it was... either Fiona McIntosh or Sara Douglass, I guess, those were some nightmarish months, two trilogies, 600+ pages per book. This one's luckily only 400+ pages long - and I'm almost at its end, thank the gods above.

The Blacklist just got an early S2 renewal. I still haven't seen more than the first episode though. I have a hard time connecting with the characters. I think I need to be in the proper mood for this show.

But I watched episodes 102-106 of Agents of SHIELD. It's getting slowly better, yet the show remains my biggest disappointment of the season. Because it's good. And it should be excellent. They had everything going for it and yet, the end-result is "only" good. No episode got my heart pumping yet and I ffwd through some of the stuff, mostly Skye related. But either I'm slowly building up my tolerance or they finally started toning down her obnoxiousness. I loved it when spoilers! ) I feel that Skye and Ward are the weakest links: Skye because of how she's written, Ward because of the actor, the guy simply lacks charisma, mostly he just looks constipated. The FitzSimmons are cute - especially in episode 106! - and Coulson and May are golden.

Which reminds me, I think I will look up some Coulson centric fics. I didn't like him in the movies, he was just the guy who stood around, smiling smugly, and I wanted to punch him. But now that we are getting to know him better, I'm finally starting to find him interesting.

Any tips and recs? Slash, het, gen, whatever...
katikat: (Actors_RachelWeisz2)
Agents of SHIELD 101. Why is it so bland? )

Brooklyn Nine Nine 109. I really like Peralta when he gets serious. )

Elementary 209. Thank you for proving that Sherlock, any Sherlock out there, is NOT a pleasant man! )

Supernatural 906-907. I've always defended Dean but right now? He's being an ass! )

I'm also downloading TVD again but it's mostly going like this, blahblahblahblah-JEREMY&BONNIE-blahblahblah-JEREMY&BONNIE-blah for me. Yes, Jeremy and Bonnie are my reason to watch it. They are such an incredibly hot couple. There's something about them... *_* Hopefully, the writers don't break them up again. That would piss me off, really!

Gotham

Sep. 25th, 2013 12:31 pm

So, on the night Agents of SHIELD aired, DC/WB announced a Jim Gordon centric series, Gotham:

In one of the biggest drama deals this season, after a bidding war, Fox has landed Gotham, from Warner Bros. TV and The Mentalist creator Bruno Heller, with a series commitment. (...) It explores the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains who made Gotham City famous. In Gotham, Gordon is still a detective with the Gotham City Police Department and is yet to meet Batman who will not be part of the series. The Gordon character was introduced in 1939 in the very first Batman comic.

Source

Well, sounds interesting - though I would've preferred Marvel's Agent Carter series, to be honest - but the way DC/WB's been playing catch-up lately, is rather pathetic. First they refused Joss Whedon's Wonder Woman script, then they said a Justice League movie was impossible to make - only to be proven wrong by Marvel's The Avengers. Now they obviously adapted the "see what Marvel does and copy" model. Well...
katikat: (spn-winchesters-highway)
So, apparently, the CW is planning a Supernatural spin-off: link. A new character will be introduced around ep 20 this season and then spun off. Hm. Honestly? By now, I'm not sure I care. I guess it will depend on the character. I thought I wouldn't like Benny and I ended up loving him, so...

Person of Interest made Amy Acker's Root a regular: link. I still haven't seen S2, so I can't really say if I consider this a good idea or not, but I'm not sure I like how they are bloating the cast.

I have never been a big fan of Agent Coulson in Marvel's movies, but I think that might change once Agents of SHIELD airs. I like what I've read about his mysterious resurrection so far: link.
