The CW just renewed Supernatural, The Originals, Arrow, The Vampire Diaries and Reign: link. Cool!
katikat: (Actors_RachelWeisz2)
Agents of SHIELD 101. Why is it so bland? )

Brooklyn Nine Nine 109. I really like Peralta when he gets serious. )

Elementary 209. Thank you for proving that Sherlock, any Sherlock out there, is NOT a pleasant man! )

Supernatural 906-907. I've always defended Dean but right now? He's being an ass! )

I'm also downloading TVD again but it's mostly going like this, blahblahblahblah-JEREMY&BONNIE-blahblahblah-JEREMY&BONNIE-blah for me. Yes, Jeremy and Bonnie are my reason to watch it. They are such an incredibly hot couple. There's something about them... *_* Hopefully, the writers don't break them up again. That would piss me off, really!
katikat: (An_Occult)
As you know, I stopped watching TVD at the end of S1 because the main love triangle - Damon-Elena-Stefan - PISSES ME OFF LIKE WHOA! There was only one character that could've drawn me back: Jeremy. I really, REALLY like his character. My favorite couple has always been Jeremy/Bonnie and I hoped that they would actually come back together again soon-ish. But the latest episode...

Well, if what happened there sticks, I guess I will not be going back. I mean, reading spoilers for S4, I really liked what they did with Jeremy, that he wasn't "just" Elena's brother anymore, that he actually had a purpose. But this, what happened last Thursday... And I can't find any spoilers that would tell me if it's just another spoilers! ) which happens on a pretty regular basis in the show or if it's permanent this time.

These give me at least some hope, though:

And a web clip:

But if it sticks? I will be so angry - and I'm not even watching the show anymore!

YAY! The CW just renewed Arrow, Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries for 2013-2014! Arrow! Supernatural! My lovelies! I mean, not that it's a surprise, last week these 3 shows got TVD 1.1, Arrow 1.0 and SPN 1.0 demo in the ratings, everything else was at least 0.3 demo lower, so... Still... YAY! And GOSH! GOSH! GOSH! \o/

I decided to ditch two shows: The Vampire Diaries and Suits.

The Vampire Diaries: I own S1 and S2 on DVD, I saw the whole S1... and I'm kinda fed up with these characters and their ISSUES. Two 150 year old vampires and a bunch of teenagers decide about the fate of basically everyone in their town. Buffy and her friends at least didn't run around, cheerfully murdering people like it's no biggie. When it's not Damon who's slaughtering people, it's Stefan, everybody is covering for them, Elena is usually in some kind of distress, mind-wiping her brother left and right, Caroline is weeping, Bonnie's hollier than thou, the guys don't know what they want... And the love triangles! There's never a conclusion that's final, the writers always leave a backdoor open and ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! Shelving the S2 box set to be watched... at some point in the future.

Suits: I barely finished S1. I ffwded through so much shipping BS, I watched like 10 minutes from each episode. Mike and Trevor, Mike and Rachel, Mike and Jenny, Jenny and Trevor, Mike behaving like an idiot again and again and again. And when it wasn't the shipping, it was the backstabbing among the lawyers in the firm. I'm tired of those people's agendas. I'm tired of waiting for the other shoe to drop and someone else to find out about Mike's secret. I just don't like Mike, period! If this was the Harvey and Donna show, I would be all in because Donna is awesome. As it is, eh. I might watch it once the season is over, in one go, but right now, I just can't be bothered.

I guess my "DON'T WANNA" funk continues. Sheesh on a pogo stick, when will it end? *hands*
katikat: (spn-new-chair3)
Supernatural was officially picked up for S8! Woohoo! Link. Together with The Vampire Diaries and 90210. This makes SPN the oldest show currently running on the CW. Wow, who would've thought that 6 years ago, when the show used to be on the bubble every year. Now, it's always among the first picks. How the times change...
katikat: (vampdiaries)
You know, I really want Matt and Tyler to be friends again. They're simply sweet and carry a different bag of issues than Stefan and Damon. I mean, I know that the show is first and foremost about vampires but after a while it's nice to have a change of... issues, I guess.

Yeesh, the circumstances of Damon's change or crossover or whatever they call it in TVD... that was pretty surprising. And I do like the way Damon changed by the end of the season. The way he actually grieved for Anna, in his own way. Unfortunately, I fear that the kiss will become a major issue in S2 that will turn out pretty embarrassing for him.

I'm glad that Stefan finally admitted that he loved his brother. That was sweet. But is the whole Damon/Elena/Stefan triangle really necessary? *sigh* In the books, Damon really isn't into Elena that much, at least not in the original trilogy. Would it be so bad to actually keep Stefan and Elena as a couple with Damon as their brother and friend respectively? I know, pretty innovative but men and women actually can be friends, writers!

Bonnie. First I was bored with her. Then I disliked her. Now I literally can't stand her. Do they have betrayal in their family tree or something? First Emily. Than Bonnie's grandma. And now Bonnie. I understand her point but to betray your best friend when she asks you for help? If you don't want to help, then don't. But do NOT pretend to be a goody-two-shoes, glowing with self-righteousness, while you betray your friend. The vampires at least don't pretend to be the good guys!

And I'm done with S1. I like the show. I would prefer more horror and action and less shipping but that's just me, I guess. So, let's see how my preferences changed:

My favorite character: Damon Nope, Caroline!
My least favorite character: Bonnie - sticking with it!
My favorite couple: Matt/Caroline - sticking with it!
My least favorite couple: Stefan/Elena - sticking with it!
The character I love but everybody seems to hate: Jeremy - sticking with it!
I watch because of: Stefan and Damon Caroline, Matt and Tyler!

Not much changed :) I have S2 on DVD too but I'll take a break from the show for a bit. Too much soap gives me bubbles ;P
katikat: (vampdiaries)
Poor, poor Caroline. I want to give her a big hug. She's so incredibly sweet and awesome and yet it seems like Matt doesn't see it at all. He always turns to Elena. I mean, he did warn Caroline that he still had feelings for Elena but... Come on. That's overdoing it. Dude, your girlfriend is standing RIGHT THERE! Sheesh...

Damon and Alaric are awesome together. Yeah, they hate each other's guts - or better said, Alaric hates Damon - but they kick major ass! Like when they started working together against Uncle John, that was awesome.

Stefan and human blood - I guess it's "be careful what you wish for" for Damon in this case. But it was lovely to see him so worried about his brother. I love it when Damon turns down his snark a bit and shows real emotions, like when he went to rescue his brother or when he sat down with Elena to wait out Stefan's withdrawal. Nice.

Jeremy and Anna... I can see a train wreck coming for Anna and her mother - again. I feel actually sorry for them. And Jeremy - I'm glad that he got mad at Elena for keeping secrets from him and that he actually talked to Anna.

Tyler - what the... Seriously? Matt's your best friend, douchebag!

Bonnie - ... Yeah. Girl, don't forget who actually started the whole thing with the tomb - it was YOUR ancestor. Who then betrayed a pact with Damon. And when Damon got pissed - and can ANYBODY blame him for that? - your grandmother tried to trick him too. Stones and glass houses, babe!

Yeah, my favorite character? Caroline. My least favorite? Still Bonnie. And 3 eps to go, if I'm not mistaken.
katikat: (vampdiaries)
I don't know if I'm in a funk or something but I'm starting to have a hard time to care about any of the characters except for Caroline. Caroline is still as sweet and angsty and so utterly cute that I want to cuddle her. The rest?

Elena - woe is me, yet another "issue", this time it's her dead/undead birth mother. Seriously, this is bordering on bad soap. Next we will learn that Elena has an evil twin who has a love child with an alien. Good grief!

Stefan - what's his purpose besides hovering around Elena with a morose expression on his face?

Damon - KatherineKatherineKatherineKATHERINE! Seriously? He used to be funny but now? Pathetic. When will he FINALLY get it through his thick head that she didn't and doesn't care about him one iota? Seriously, like a love sick puppy.

Matt - he wants to be with Caroline, but Caroline's too clingy and at the same time she doesn't pay enough attention to him. Boy, get a grip.

Bonnie and her whole family - wow, what a bunch of hypocrites! "Yes, Damon, I'll protect Katherine if you protect my family." 150 years later: "Our pact is void. No hard feelings?" WTF? Seriously, what the fuckity fuck?!

Alaric - coincidence, thy name is Alaric *snorts*

I'm getting so tired of Elena-in-distress. And do these teenagers still even go to school? *deep breath* Something needs to give soon because the show went from great to annoying in three eps flat for me.
katikat: (vampdiaries)
You know, Stefan's holier than thou attitude kinda grates. He said that he had given Damon a chance time and time again and Damon always betrayed him but when you look at it, it really is all Stefan's fault. Damon went out of his way to protect Katherine, he went against his father's wishes, he made a pact with the witches and all Stefan did was stand by and wail about the unfairness of life - but Damon's the bad guy? Sheesh on a pogo stick! No wonder that Damon actually went bad. His father kept telling him what a disappointment he was, his brother broke the most important promise he gave him... As Damon said, the only person he could count on was he himself.
katikat: (vampdiaries)
Finally decided to go back to this. The DVD box set was starting to look rather lonely and desperate there :P

I'm halfway through S1 and I have to agree with people who said, stick with it, it's going to get much better. And it did. What I love about the show is that barely anybody is lilly white there. Especially the Salvatore brothers aren't, either of them. And, sheesh, is the show bloody or what? O.o

So, let's make a list...

My favorite character: Damon - his snark is epic!
My least favorite character: Bonnie - eh, just not feeling the witch storyline.
My favorite couple: Matt/Caroline - they are so incredibly cute!
My least favorite couple: Stefan/Elena - seriously, their yes-no-yes ship is annoying, especially when you marathon the show.
The character I love but everybody seems to hate: Jeremy - I'm digging his emo! X)
I watch because of: Stefan and Damon, of course!

Ah, Stefan and Damon. No matter what they say, they love each other and nobody will convince me otherwise. I mean, in one ep, Stefan stabs Damon - in the next one, another vampire has a go at Damon and Stefan is all "Are you okay?" Boys, your epic issues will raze the town to the ground, seriously!

So, yeah, I'm loving it. But it's yet another show best watched in big chunks. It's too serialized for weekly watching...
katikat: (vampdiaries)
Finally started watching The Vampire Diaries. Tonight, it was Pilot and The Night of the Comet.

Boy, the pilot was cringe-worthy *winces* No wonder that three years back, I watched it and never came back. Chock full of pathos and teenage angst and bad lines. Ouch. It's good that I know from various reports and reviews that it actually does get good in future episodes. The best part of 101? Ian Somerhalder and the introduction of Damon, hands down.

Ep 102 was much, much better. And I'm loving Damon, he's so devious and his one-liners are to die for, excuse the pun. And, you know, knowing what's behind it, knowing how Damon really feels about his brother, it gives the whole story another dimension. Also, I actually like all the characters. Well, I could do without Matt and his sister, but I don't actually mind them, you know?

I plan to finish S1 before Xmas because I bought S2 as a gift for myself, on DVD, I mean. So far, I like it.
katikat: (spn-dvd-cover)
So, I promised myself not to buy DVDs for Xmas this year, as a gift for myself, I mean. Ha! Look at what I bought today:

Supernatural S6 for $12.99
The Big Bang Theory S4 for $8.99
The Vampire Diaries S2 for $12.99
White Collar S2 for $15.99

Yeah? That resolution? So, SO much fail! *head/desk* But come on! That was 80% discount on shows I wanted to buy anyway! *despairs*
katikat: (spn-laughter)
So, Kevin Williamson, the co-creator/executive producer of The Vampire Diaries, is working on a companion show for TVD. And listen to this:

... is working on a new supernatural drama project, envisioned as a potential companion for the CW's flagship vampire drama. The untitled project, which is in early stages of development at Warner Bros. TV for the CW, is described as "The X-Files meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer." It focuses on a group of people who investigate paranormal happenings. Link

I love people's comments to that article: "There's already a show like that on the CW and it's called Supernatural." Seriously, this sounds basically like the idea Kripke had pitched all the years back, before he came up with the idea of two brothers on the road; you remember the idea he had, about a journalist investigating the supernatural, and the WB told him "Naaaaaah"? And then he pitched the Winchester brothers and used the Buffy and The X-Files line too, exactly like that.

I don't know what to think about it, to be honest. IMHO, it sounds more like SPN's replacement than a companion for TVD...

For anyone interested, Amazon US is selling The Vampire Diaries S1 in a Lightning Deal right now for $12.99 only! Go, grab it quick. It'll last only for another 3 hrs or until it's sold out!
katikat: (Default)
I ordered White Collar S1 on DVD - the R2 version from Amazon UK. Because the price? US $38.99 vs. UK £14.93 - that's a huge difference in Czech korunas! And according to [livejournal.com profile] castalie's friend, both have the same extras. So, the UK version it is.

And! I pre-ordered The Vampire Diaries S1 on DVD - this time from the US! US $37.99 vs. UK £26.91 - cheaper from the US for me, even though it'll take longer to reach me.

I feel so accomplished... and broke *head/desk*

ETA: And I ordered an external HDD from Verbatim, 1TB for CZK 2.200 *sigh* Lotsa money at once, but long-term? A bargain!
katikat: (Default)
I really love this vid - beware, STRONG slash ahead! - makes me want to get my hands on the DVDs ASAP! And they're available for pre-order already :)
katikat: (Default)
After this 117 promo, I ~really~ need to get TVD on DVD! \o/
katikat: (Default)
This afternoon, I felt the inexplicable urge to watch WhiCo's Pilot again! And I still have as much love for this show as when I first saw it! It's such a happy place for me - and I just hope that the writers won't ruin it with the 2nd half of this season, you know, with the way the 1st half ended! I would never forgive them.

And have you seen the promos for the 2nd half? Link!

Which brings me to more promos!
NCIS:LA 1x12 - this one made me squee out loud!
NCIS 7x12 - this one made me giggle!
NCIS 150th ep celebration video - beware of spoilers for 7x12!
The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural - the CW's congratulations on winning the PCA
Chuck's back tonight! Eeee!
Castle 2x12

And many more shows return this week! I can't wait!
katikat: (Default)
Ausiello posted his analysis of the best and worst shows this season. And so, I have a question - what's been your favorite and least favorite show this season so far?

I tried three new shows this season: NCIS:LA, The Vampire Diaries and White Collar. I decided to stick with NCIS:LA and WC, TVD I'll buy next year on DVD. It's too serialized to follow week to week, IMHO. On DVD, you can devour it in a week, the whole season. Without hiatuses or breaks.

Old shows that stayed the same, quality-wise that is: Bones, NCIS, Psych, Supernatural, The Mentalist. I've been enjoying them as much as in the previous seasons, which means lotsa!

Old shows that dropped in quality: Numb3rs. The show just feels... tired. I don't know why. I just can't get all excited about it anymore. Colby and David are the only reason why I'm still sticking around.

Old shows that got even better this season: Castle and Leverage.

So, what do you think got better/worse or stayed the same this season? What new shows did you fall in love with or dropped?
