Great film, IMO. But what was really amazing, was seeing it in 3D. Wow, that was an experience! The best use of 3D I've ever seen. A visual feast. First the bike ride at the very beginning, and then the huge waves later on... God, the WAVES! Dolby Surround and 3D... Jesus, that was unforgettable. And the base jumping they did in the Alps... Gosh! It was incredible. This is why 3D was invented.

Also, despite the ending, you don't feel sad because both Bodhi and Johnny get what they wanted. And the lovely, serene smile on Johnny's face at the end... He finally found peace. And it was glorious.

Yesterday, I watched the latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. It was pretty much eh, 5/10 at best. But there was one thing that I noticed: Leonardo is the resident Turtle in Distress (TM).

I mean, the movie featured the usual stuff: idiot Mikey, nerdy Donnie, and Raffie and Leo butting heads, as always. But the thing is, Leonardo, who's the leader and the most level-headed turtle, always ends up being the brother the others have to rescue. It was so in TMNT (2007) and here too. In the previous movie, Leonardo was kidnapped because of something that Rafael did - here, he was rendered unconscious after they escaped from captivity and the others had to jump to his rescue and protect him. For a leader, he tends to end up being the one who needs rescuing quite often...

I'm almost never here these days, I'm spending more and more time over on Tumblr where there's a much bigger fanbase for... basically everything right now. But for me, it's mostly Shadowhunters/The Mortal Instruments. Let's be honest here, my friends, who of you is into this stuff? ... *crickets* Thought so, at least I have my dear [livejournal.com profile] sharona1x2 over there with me :)

Other than that, I mostly read books or listen to audio books, I haven't watched anything in ages. My GoodReads goal for this year was 50 books - I'm reading book #146 right now. Yeah.

On the movie front, I bought all 6 Star Wars movies on DVD today. I also saw the trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse and I was slightly underwhelmed, to be honest, the only thing that really gripped me was Charles and Raven, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence are great as loving siblings. In the next few weeks, I plan to go and see Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Point Break in the cinema. And also to watch lotsa movies on DVD over Xmas.

And... that's pretty much it. Boring as ever :)

Today, I was going through an Internet shop's web, choosing what DVD to buy, what movies I would like to show to my mom over Christmas. And, price aside, I realized that, out of all the movies that I have seen in the cinema this year so far, there's only one movie that I really, really, really wanted her to see: San Andreas.

This movie totally caught me by surprise. I went in with little to no expectation and I came out loving it. It's the one movie I keep thinking about, ever since. Not only does it feature Dwayne Johnson who makes everything better - and yes, my mom's a big fan, too - but it also stars Alexandra Daddario and I have a huge weakness for her. Her character in the film is simply amazing. And I cannot wait to show it to my mom.

Oh, there is one other movie I want my mom to see: Transporter: Refueled. Gosh, I loved the film. But it's not out on DVD yet, won't be for almost another three weeks, it's coming out on the 19th here.

Other than that, I was mostly disappointed by the films I've seen in the cinema so far, mostly by Age of Ultron, Spectre and The Last Witch Hunter. Only San Andreas and Transporter: Refueled really got my heart pumping and made me fall for the characters, mostly because of the family angle...

Oh, oh, oh, Travis Fimmel looks amazing here! He's a VERY pretty man but as Ragnar Lothbrok in Vikings, they age him up. Here, he looks GORGEOUS... *happy sigh*

Longmire was renewed for S5 by Netflix. Congrats, you Longmire loving people, you! :)

And there will be an Ocean's Eleven spin-off, with Sandra Bullock leading a team of mostly female thieves. George Clooney's producing it and might cameo as Danny Ocean.

Ever since the S5A of Teen Wolf disappointed me so terribly - if I could, I would punch the living daylights out of Scott "The Second Coming" McCall for how he treated both Kira and Stiles! - I fell into a funk that I can't seem to get out of. I was excited about so many returning/new shows and now... eh, I just can't seem to get into any of them.

Instead, I'm reading Magnus/Alec fanfics on AO3 or reading books. Right now, I'm reading "How To Name Your Cat" by minipage on AO3, a funny Malec AU fic. I'm also listening to "The Spirit Eater" by Aaron Rachel, 3rd in "The Legend of Eli Monpress" fantasy series. And I'm reading "Don't Let Go" by Harper Fox, 3rd in the "Tyack & Frayne" gay paranormal series. And I'm translating "The Legend of Drizzt: The Collected Stories" by R.A. Salvatore. And today, I bought a pile of Czech historical mysteries... Books. Books everywhere. My GoodReads goal for 2015 was 50 books. I just reviewed book #95! So yeah...

Also, I planned on going to see The Martian this weekend. But even that doesn't sound exciting anymore. And now that Matt Damon proved himself to be a homophobe - or a complete and utter ass, I don't know which would be better - by saying that gay actors should stay in the closet, that an actor's sexuality should be a mystery - while he himself prances around with his wife, so apparently the "mystery" applies only to queer people, straight ones can flaunt their heterosexuality as much as they want - an ass, like I said! - my interest in the movie dropped to freezing temperatures. Not even Sebastian Stan seems to be enough of an incentive for me to go and see it...

Eh. Curse the funk. Curse it!

This looks actually incredible! Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's yet another remake, whatever! But now that Paul Walker's dead and there won't be any more Dom & Brian F&F goodness, I'm all for this, Utah and Bodie. They seem just as obsessed with each other as Dom and Brian were in the beginning (no wonder since F&F was basically a remake of the original Point Break, just with cars instead of surfers)...

♠ Today, in the park, I saw a group of approximately 20 young people, sitting in a circle on the ground, blindfolded. Just sitting. Eh?

♠ In the same park, I saw an old poster, saying, "I Believe in Sherlock!" Heh.

♠ Apparently, Pacific Rim 2 is not happening after all: link. Personally, I was surprised that there were any plans to continue it at all since it was nowhere near a hit.

♠ Rebecca Ferguson might be the front runner for Captain Marvel: link. Nice. I adored her as Ilsa Faust in Mission: Impossible 5.

♠ And Vinzenz Kiefer is leaving Alarm für Cobra 11. Apparently, they decided to change the tone - AGAIN! - and go back to lighter stuff and fun and his Alex Brandt was way too dark for that. It's too bad. If they had just given him fun stuff to do now that he mellowed. But no *sigh*

♠ I finished translating Patricia Briggs' "Dead Heat", #4 in the "Alpha & Omega" series. And I didn't like it, gave it 2 stars only. She introduced some great guest starring characters, like the cute gay couple (the Mad Scientist & his Cop BF) or the Cantrip agents (Marsden & Leeds). But Anna was suddenly all, "BABIES! BABIES! BABIES! NOWNOWNOW!" as if her brain switched places with her uterus or something and my interest in her as a character dropped from zero into freezing temperatures. Eh.

♠ I started reading manga again. I'm trying to finish two series, "No. 6" by Atsuko Asano and "Korzar der Liebe" by Erii Misono, before I start new stuff.

♠ I bought the first two books in the new "Alien" trilogy, "Out of the Shadows" by Tim Lebbon and "Sea of Sorrows" by John A. Moore.

♠ I plan on going to see Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials this weekend. Already have the tickets reserved.

♠ And I'm still obsessed with Shadowhunters, the Malec ship and Matthew Daddario. Have you seen the MTV article about him, titled "9 Times ‘Shadowhunters’ Star Matthew Daddario Slayed Us With Hotness"? I kid you not. He was so flustered by it, LOL!

Bradley James AKA King Arthur will by playing the villain in the latest Underworld movie! Source. It's shooting next month in Prague. Maybe he will meet Santiago Cabrera AKA Lancelot there, too, since he's filming The Musketeers over here right now. Ha!

--> Apparently, Alan Tudyk has a tiny part in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials. Who knew? Source.

--> There will be Jack Reacher 2 after all, it will start shooting later this year for a late 2016 release. Nice! Loved the first one. Source.

--> And there will also be Mission Impossible 6! And it's on a fast-track, to start shooting next year! Awesome! Loved 4 & 5! Source.

--> There will be a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen reboot and it will be female centric. Hm. Okay. Source.

--> Patrick Stewart's Professor X will be a part of Wolverine 3 and it won't be just a cameo but something juicier. NICE! Love me some Chuck! Source.

What movies I still plan on seeing this year? Let's see...

* Fantastic Four
* Man from UNCLE
* Hitman: Agent 47
* Transporter
* Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials
* Martian
* The Walk
* Crimson Peak
* Legend
* The Last Witch Hunter
* Sicario
* Spectre
* Hunger Games: Mockingjay 2
* Victor Frankenstein
* Bridge of Spies
* Star Wars: The Force Awakens
* Point Break

Nice! Though I might drop some, like Fantastic Four, I won't get to see it this weekend and next weekend I want to see UNCLE, so... We will see.

Looks good, especially the action. I just hope the jokes won't be too juvenile. And I hope it's a huge hit, for Ryan Reynold's sake. He deserves a hit and he's so excited about the movie!

Casting!

♦ So apparently, Jeremy Renner's Aaron Cross Bourne movie is still in the works: link. Which is great because I loved it, Aaron and Martha are my Bourne Universe OTP.

♦ And speaking of Bourne, Julia Stiles' Nicky Parsons will be back for the next one with Matt Damon: link.

♦ Vin Diesel's Kojak remake is also definitely happening, it was picked up by Universal: link. I'm really curious about his take on the character.

♦ Shalita Grant and Daryl Mitchell, aka Sonja and Patton, were officially upped to regulars on NCIS:NOLA. I like both characters but I'm a bit worried about the expanding cast. I liked that this cast was small, so everyone had more time on-screen.

♦ And Russell Tovey was cast in The Night Manager, which already features Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie: link.

This looks fantastic. I like Tom Cruise and his movies so much! When he smiles, it's like the whole screen lights up.
katikat: (F_Holmes)

This looks hilarious but in a very GOOD way, unlike Charlie's Angels. I love Guy Ritchie's movies! I hope we get more Sherlock Holmes from him and soon.
katikat: (CBM_ProfessorX)

I know that there are people who want it to fail. And then there are people who want it to succeed at any cost. I'm ambivalent about the movie. I'm not a fan of Fantastic Four and though I did like the first take on it with Chris Evans and Ioan Gruffudd a few years back, I don't mind that it's getting rebooted. I'm mostly "whatever". The trailer looks good, so I'll give it a chance. We'll see...

Following the successful box office opening of YA film adaptation The Maze Runner, 20th Century Fox has quickly set a date for the sequel.

Maze Runner: Scorch Trials, based on the second book in James Dashner's book series, will hit theaters Sept. 18, 2015.

Over the weekend, The Maze Runner opened to a pleasing $32.5 million at the North American box office.

Overseas, Maze Runner also impressed, taking in another $37.6 million for an early worldwide total of $81.5 million (the film began rolling out in several territories last weekend).

Source

NICE! $81 mil. in one weekend when the movie cost $34 mil. to make? VERY NICE! And the sequel is now officially a GO! YAY!
katikat: (TW_StilesFaceTilt)
I LOVED IT! I went to the first airing available and I’m going back on Saturday for seconds. It was THAT good!

Spoilers! )

The soundtrack? FRICKIN’ FANTASTIC! Wow, just… wow! And the special effects were perfect, literally. The movie looked like a 200 mil. feature rather than a 34 mil. film.

I also loved that you really could sum up the movie as “Thomas does what Thomas wants.” LOL!

Apparently, there will be an Underworld reboot with the latest plot details saying it would focus on Eve, Selene's daughter: link.

Well, FUCK ME! So, instead of focusing on Selene and her reunion with Michael, the love of her life, they will just dump this storyline in favor of a much younger protagonist? Because, you know, Michael and Selene and their relationship aren't at all the FUCKING POINT and HEART OF THIS SERIES!

God, I'm furious! There are very few movie couples that I root for like crazy, but Selene and Michael - together with Neo & Trinity and Will & Elizabeth - are IT for me! And they dump them just so they can stick a younger, bustier starlet into latex? No. Just... no!
