I went to see...

American Assassin - great cast, good action, needed better, tighter directing. I think it was a missed opportunity. Don't get me wrong, I liked it, I just didn't love it. Maybe that will change when I get it on DVD, that usually happens. The thing is, I don't think it'll earn enough money for a sequel. And that's too bad because I would've loved to see Dylan O'Brien and Michael Keaton together on the screen again.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle - fantastic action, great cast, passable story, way too long. And some of the jokes were downright distasteful - seriously, the vagina thing? *full-body shudder* I would've cut Elton John out completely and severely slashed Penny's time on-screen. I did love the original Galahad and Agent Tequila! Weirdly, I slash those two O.O

On DVD I saw...

Shelter - I just needed something soft and sweet. One of he best gay romances out there, hands down.

Angels and Demons - another Robert Langdon movie. Not bad but not nearly as interesting as the first one. Still, good time was had.

Inferno - the last Robert Langdon movie (so far). And the weakest. I just didn't care about it. It was long, it was boring... no wonder it flopped. It just lacked the spark of the previous films in the series. I think it's time to let Robert Langdon rest.

On the TV front...

MacGyver - the reboot, I mean. I fell SO HARD for the show! I mean, so hard! I'm actually writing fics for it, 3 by now! Wow. I haven't felt this inspired to write anything for something new in ages. It's basically a modern day A-Team - over the top, silly and not to be taken seriously - but the relationship between MacGyver and Jack Dalton is just... MWAH!

The Librarians - got S1 on DVD and I should finish it tonight. Another silly, sweet, cute show with little to no real angst. The perfect show to watch when you feel down and need cheering up!

Spider-Man: Homecoming: A funny movie. I think it might be my favorite Spidey film yet. But that doesn't say much since he isn't exactly my favorite character. I loved the bits with Peter and Tony Stark, but the lovey-dovey parts bored me to tears. It was so cliché.

Delivery Man: I bought this film on DVD solely for Matt Daddario who played one of David's 500+ kids, the gorgeous gay one. Turns out, the movie's surprisingly sweet and funny. But yeah. Matt Daddario's Channing is my favorite part of the film.

Star Trek: The 2009 version. I'm not as smitten with it as I used to be. It's still funny and there are some truly amazing scenes in it but my infatuation with the movie kind of worn off. The casting remains perfect, though.

Deepwater Horizon: Still one of the best movies that I've ever seen. The mounting tension, especially when you know how it will end, is positively amazing. Yes, I went to see it in the cinema for Dylan O'Brien who played one of the survivors, but it is a really great movie, overall.

While [livejournal.com profile] yami_tai and her husband were here last weekend, we watched Maze Runner and Maze Runner: the Scorch Trials together. And now that I've seen both in a quick succession, I have to say that I enjoy the second movie much better. I think it's because Thomas becomes more of a leader in it, he's decisive and determined, and even though he doesn't have all the answers, he never gives up. I loved, LOVED the scene where it was revealed what he had done, why he was put into the maze. That was awesome, the way everybody stared at him...

It's too bad that Dylan O'Brien was hurt filming the 3rd movie and the whole thing had to be postponed till 2018! I'm so curious how it will continue because they basically threw the books out of the window and are doing their own thing. And I liked the movies much more than the books, especially Thomas' character, because Book!Thomas was a whiny n00b.

Just read the reports that he was severely injured on the set of of Death Cure after being run over by a car, the production was halted till he recovers. Jesus Christ... I immediately flashed back to Paul Walker and just... No.

Dylan O'Brien and Kurt Russell are in talks to join Mark Wahlberg's Deepwater Horizon, a disaster movie based on the biggest oil spill in the US history which happened in 2010: link. Dylan will play, "Caleb Holloway, Deepwater Horizon’s youngest crew member, who survived the disaster, but is devastated by the loss of his crew." Yes! Dylan and Kurt Russell in one movie together! Awesome! \o/

Went to see The Maze Runner for the third time today. And it was just as wonderful. Man, this movie makes me happy. So very, very happy *sighs happily*

Also, James Dashner is working on another TMR prequel, "The Fever Code", about how the kids got into the lab and into the maze in the first place. It's set to be published in 2016: link. HUZZAH!

Following the successful box office opening of YA film adaptation The Maze Runner, 20th Century Fox has quickly set a date for the sequel.

Maze Runner: Scorch Trials, based on the second book in James Dashner's book series, will hit theaters Sept. 18, 2015.

Over the weekend, The Maze Runner opened to a pleasing $32.5 million at the North American box office.

Overseas, Maze Runner also impressed, taking in another $37.6 million for an early worldwide total of $81.5 million (the film began rolling out in several territories last weekend).

NICE! $81 mil. in one weekend when the movie cost $34 mil. to make? VERY NICE! And the sequel is now officially a GO! YAY!

I LOVED IT! I went to the first airing available and I’m going back on Saturday for seconds. It was THAT good!

Spoilers! )

The soundtrack? FRICKIN’ FANTASTIC! Wow, just… wow! And the special effects were perfect, literally. The movie looked like a 200 mil. feature rather than a 34 mil. film.

I also loved that you really could sum up the movie as “Thomas does what Thomas wants.” LOL!

I cannot stop re-watching this panel. Dylan O'Brien, Will Poulter, Kaya Scodelario, Wes Ball and James Dashner, moderated by Zachary Levi. And it's HILARIOUS! If you need something to pick you up, watch this. The story with Kaya's cat dying, Dylan gashing his back open... I was LOL'ing the whole time!

*muffled screeching* This looks a-frickin'-mazing! Is it Sept. 18 already?!

Also, Dylan O'Brien won the Breakthrough Actor award at the Young Hollywood Awards, beating actors like Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games) or Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars). How awesome is that? \o/

Teen Wolf was picked up for S5, with 20 eps to be aired in two 10 ep batches! HUZZAH! It was announced at SDCC and this new S4 trailer was aired:

How fantastic is it? I cannot wait! *bounces*

Also, there's been so much new, wonderful TW and The Maze Runner material coming out of SDCC! Both had their panels on Thursday, then Q&A yesterday and Tumblr is literally flooded with pictures and vids and I haven't come up for air since Thursday night! It's awesome!

Dylan was nominated for a Teen Choice Award as the Best TV Villain for his part as the Nogitsune or Void!Stiles. I hope he wins it because he really deserves it. Just take a look...

♥ Matt Bomer won the Critics’ Choice Television Awards for his part in The Normal Heart! This movie may not be my cuppa - I hate depressing stuff with unhappy endings - but I'm so proud of him!

♥ Rosario Dawson will be in multiple episodes of Netflix and Marvel's Daredevil.

♥ According to Dylan O'Brien, Dreamworks dropped Glimmer :( Bummer, I was really looking forward to this movie.

Star Wars VIII and IX will be written and directed by Looper's Rian Johnson. WOW! That I did not expect.

♥ It looks like Jason Momoa is playing Aquaman in the new Batman vs. Superman movie? If so, I would get actually excited about the film.

Teen Wolf S4 in 2 days!!!

FANTASTIC! I love Dylan O'Brien's new intro card! Sweet! He really needed a new one. I mean, in the old one he was still skinny and he had a buzz cut! And Shelley Hennig's! I'm so happy that Malia is a regular this season! *bounces* One more week to go!

And since my family went home today, I hope to go back to my regularly scheduled programing now!
