This was such a great movie with an amazing voice cast: Bruce Greenwood, Jensen Ackles, Neil Patrick Harris, Kelly Hu, Jason Isaacs... Awesome, awesome, awesome! Though I wouldn't have recognized Jensen's voice at all. Curious.

This movie actually made me all teary eyed. First when Jason died - the way he looked at the bomb and you could see him go, "Oh..." so sadly. And then, when Jason asked Bruce why he didn't kill Joker, just why. Not anybody else, just Joker, because Joker took Jason away from Bruce - and Bruce did nothing. Batman just stuck Joker into a prison, from where he kept breaking out again and again, doing whatever he wanted. You could see how heartbroken Jason was because his own death wasn't enough for Bruce to end Joker.

This story fascinates me to no end. And as blood-thirsty as it might sound, I actually agree with Jason - what Bruce does is pretty much useless: he catches the bad guys, they go to prison, someone breaks them out, they start killing again and Bruce goes on and catches them again. An endless circle with many innocent people dead and the bad guys laughing.

I think I will have to find out more about Jason Todd. I really liked Red Hood.

... In CBS' article (together with other actors' stints in the director's chair):

Jensen Ackles never thought about directing an episode of his show, The CW’s Supernatural, until the late veteran director Kim Manners mentioned it. “In the first season of the show, he said to me, ‘You’re gonna direct one of these,’ ” Ackles recalls. “I said, ‘Oh, OK, Kim. Yeah, sure.’ He said, ‘You will. And when you do that, I’ll be right there.’ ”

It took another five years, but Ackles eventually directed this season’s “Weekend at Bobby’s.” The episode focused on two of the show’s more minor characters, Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver) and Crowley (Mark Sheppard), as Singer struggles to come up with a way to trick the demonic Crowley to give him back his ransomed soul.

Again, the actor’s longtime professional relationship with his cast mates paid off when it came to directing Beaver on the set. “There’s a very kind relationship he and I have built over the past several seasons,” Ackles says. “He basically showed up and said, ‘Tell me what you want me to do, and I’ll do it. Whatever I can do to help, I will. I’m here for you.’ ”

Like most directors, Ackles also had a hand in casting the guest actors in the episode. So when it came time to figure out who would do the voice for the TV newscaster Bobby Singer is listening to, it was a no-brainer: Ackles’ veteran voiceover-actor father, Alan Ackles. “I saw ‘Newscaster’ in the script, and I knew, ‘Well, that’s easy. My dad can phone that in.’ And he literally did. He phoned it in from the studio in his house in Texas, sitting in his bathrobe, sipping his coffee.”

Yes, I'm pretty much determined to post as much positive stuff about Supernatural as I can find. I'm sick and tired of seeing this show dragged through the mud! SPN FTW! *pumps fist*

A BTS photo from an upcoming episode that Jensen directed. Yes, that's Jensen in the director's chair. Man, he's handsome *_*

The first with Jared Padalecki, the second with Jensen Ackles - BEWARE, CHOCK-FULL OF SPOILERS FOR S6! It sounds so good, seriously!
katikat: (Default)
I love what Jared said about Jensen in this article (beware of directing spoilers for SPN):

"Honestly, he has a great, contagious love for the work. When you're doing 16-hour days for eight or nine months, you have to remember to be excited about it and to be passionate about it. Jensen has that!"

I want to squish them silly 8)

According to this article, Matt Bomer and Zachary Quinto are RL friends? That's really cute, for some reason ;)

And I loved this tweet from Christian Kane about Jensen's wedding that took place this past weekend: "The wedding made me realize.. How important love is.. How friends last forever.. And how stupidly I've taken both for granted...."

So, Amazon US is taking pre-orders for Batman: Under the Red Hood, you know, the animated movie with Jensen Ackles' voicing Red Hood?

Well, does it make me a geek that I'm actually considering buying this? I actually have three good reasons, you know?

a) I used to love the Batman animated series, though I hated the Batman Beyond one where Bruce Wayne was an old, rickety guy and the new Batman looked kinda ridiculous.
b) Jensen Ackles! \o/
c) I started reading comic books lately - right now, I'm reading "Lex Luthor: Man of Steel" - and I'm loving it...

Anyone else considering giving this one a go?

Man, I feel geeky! And I'm lovin' it! *dances*

ETA: Man, I love this vid: Andrea Romano talks about Jensen's work on the movie!

Made a new layout! Man, I love that picture of Jensen, it makes him look like a cat, slit pupils and all. Awesome! What a gorgeous, beautiful man *sigh*

According to Examiner.com, Jensen Ackles is joining the cast of the new animated Batman DVD movie Batman: Under The Red Hood. He will be voicing Red Hood himself. Quoting: "Assumedly Ackles will be bringing more of the deep bass he has perfected as a gun-slinging demon-hunter to this role who many will inherently cast off as the villain."

Awesome! I love Jensen's "Dean" voice, so deep and raspy that it makes me go all \o/ whenever I hear it! I can't wait to hear him as Red Hood! 8)

Wow, I still can't believe that Supernatural won the People's Choice Award for best SF/F show. Wow! Congratulations! I hope that we will get to see Kripke talking about it, on the S5 DVD box set if nothing else.

And both Jared and Jensen are engaged to be married very, very soon if the rumors are true. Congratulations. But that's rather it for me. I'm not really interested in the personal lives of the actors. Sure, it's cute to hear about their dogs or how Jared sucks at golfing - but I could care less about their love life *shrugs*

I'm not and I've never been a fan of either Danneel Harris or Genevieve Cortese (or Sandy McCoy before that). I've seen them in various shows and they never made an impression on me. I'm not bashing them, I'm just not their fan, I don't go out of my way to find their movies/series. They aren't more beautiful or more talented than dozens of other actresses. And just because I'm a fan of Jared and Jensen, there's no fan law that orders me to automatically become a fan of their soon-to-be-wives - remember the mess when Jared and Sandy broke up? No, thank you. And it makes me rather annoyed that a big part of the fandom accuses me of being a bad fan or, I don't know, a wanker if I don't immediately become a fan of Danneel and Genevieve by proxy. I think it's actually rather insulting for the actresses if you become their fan just because they are someone's fiancées.

Which brings me to the point of my entry - RPS fics and J2 in this case. Yes, I still read CWRPS stories regardless of the marital status of the actors. Why? Because 95% of stories that I read are AUs with original characters that are modeled after Jared and Jensen and that's it. If they were named Dick and Larry instead of Jared and Jensen, nothing would change. There are stories with businessman!Jensen and veterinarian!Jared, singer!Jensen and ranch-owner!Jared, physical-therapist!Jensen and assassin!Jared etc. etc. I read these fics as I would watch a movie where the characters are portrayed by Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. And those have nothing to do with the personal lives of the actors.

Enough meta-ing for 9am!

Last night, I was watching vids from the Supernatural con that was held last weekend in Chicago. I watched takayanaoe's vids and my favorite parts?

* Jensen told a funny story about how he had to wipe off sweat of Jared in between lines during a scene. Jared laughed about Jensen knowing his sweat spots.
* Jensen talked about how exhausting emotional scenes were. He had said that a couple of times in the past already but it's always interesting, the way he describes the difference between being sore and being emotionally drained.
* They talked about working with Kim Manners. I loved Jensen talking about All Hell Breaks Loose p2, about the filming of the scene with Dean talking to a dead Sam...

Also, Jensen looked exceptionally gorgeous in his dark shirt. Wow!

ETA: Oh, I forgot the food sharing! Or better said, Jared finishing Jensen's meals :P

You know, reading the Twitter reports from the latest SPN con I realized one thing - I like the SGA cons and reports better. Why? Because the SGA actors keep their significant others out of the spotlight.

Don't get me wrong here. I'm happy that Jensen is happy with Danneel and that Jared is happy with Genevieve. But I think it would be wiser if they kept their relationships more private. And no, I don't say it out of jealousy or some misguided belief that Jared and Jensen would fall madly in love with each other if it wasn't for their girlfriends. No, I just vividly remember the bruhaha that turned the fandom upside down when Jared and Sandy broke up. It was his fault or her fault or who knows whose fault and it was embarrassing for everybody involved. Talk about overexposure. Compare that to Joe Flanigan's attitude - he tells a funny story or two about his kids and wife, but he keeps them separate from his career. I think that it helps the fans separate the actor from his role and his career from his private life.

So yeah, I think that it would be wiser if Jared and Jensen kept the private part of their lives more private. It would give the crazy fans less fodder and help the actors maintain some privacy.

I love this cute Jensen Ackles vid from Asylum where he talks about his cockapoo dog Icarus. I love the bouncing thing! It's just so funny! Can you imagine Jensen with a tiny little fluffy thing?

And then there's the chat with Joe Flanigan and some of the Q+As are just so funny! The funniest one?

Q: You had the chance to shot in the episode "The Kindred", a small stage with your son Aidan and Truman. I want to know what you felt as a father in this little moment.
A: Makes me laugh. They played villagers in a prison, and I was supposed to free them. The director told them to be very serious, tired, scared etc.. My middle kid, Truman, would see me and say “Daddy” with a big smile. My oldest kid Aidan was taking it very seriously and was horrified by Truman’s acting. It was pure gold.

Other fun stuff: As a Jedi, Joe would want a purple light saber. He thinks that he and Jason Momoa would make the safest team but he and David Hewlett the funniest. He thinks that Johnny Cash is a national treasure. He doesn't want to get involved with another TV project unless the character is really interesting. Han Solo rocks. For a long time, his kids thought that he really did fly to space every day to kill the bad guys. He ponders if there are actually any lazy bees (I loved that one ;P). He doesn't have a long enough attention span to meditate. And best of all - he will be shooting a new movie in July! I hope that he will get to play the main character!

And I loved this question:
Q: If you are the one with the questions, what would you like to ask the "Stargate: Atlantis" fans?
A: Would you like to see more Atlantis? As a movie or a series, or both? What characters worked and didn’t work? Would you like to see Chris Judge, David Hewlet and myself do another series, even if it’s unrelated to Atlantis?

How would you answer it, my flist? Me? Of course I would adore to see more Atlantis, as a series, if possible, but movies would do if nothing else was doable. The main team worked perfectly - John, Rodney, Teyla and Ronon - and I loved Woolsey as the leader. I didn't like Keller because she was overall badly written. And yes, I would love to see Chris, David and Joe in another show, together would be preferable, of course. I don't care what show, as long as it would be something adventurous and not a soap.

Sports Night, a fic rec:
PRE-SLASH --> "Diversionary Tactics" by shrift. Wherein Danny gets trapped in smelly musical theater, Dana goes slightly mad, and Casey alienates entire galaxies in the space of a single show. Words: 5.000+. H/c fics aren't really common in this fandom so whenever I stumble across one, I squee with delight - especially when Dan's hurt and Casey is doing the comforting thingy... ;p

Looking through BOmojo today, I found some stills from Fast and Furious that reminded me once more just how much I love this frickin' movie!

Pics... )

After 56 days in the theaters, FnF grossed $336+ mil. worldwide. Wow, with a budget of $85 mil., that's awesome!

I'm glad that people are enjoying themselves at the Asylum con in the UK. Jensen with longer hair looks... strange - I'm so used to seeing him with a borderline buzz-cut now! :P And he had an eye surgery? So, no more cute glasses? What a shame. I loved him with those, he looked gorgeous. Glasses made his eyes stand out even more!

* I'm now the proud owner of SG-1 S4&5 on DVD!

* I started reading James Swallow's SGA tie-in "Nightfall".

* I watched two eps of Numb3rs last night, only four more to go and I'm all caught up:
-> 513... )
-> 514... )

* [livejournal.com profile] juice817 posted the most awesome LA con reports about Jared, Jensen, Misha etc.!
katikat: (Default)
[livejournal.com profile] ckll posted some awesome scans from the February Venice magazine, an interview with Jensen Ackles, and there was a part that was really heart-warming for me. The reporter asked if there was a friendly rivalry between Jared and Jensen because of the both of them filming slasher flicks during the hiatus and Jensen said that no, there wasn't and he pulled out his cell phone and read the message Jared had sent him some time back. And it said:
"Hey dude, thinking about you, hope it's going well. Kick ass. Enjoy."
Just the "thinking about you" made me want to run around and flap my hands in delight. They are just too cute for words, and it doesn't matter if you are a J2 slasher or not. Even in a completely gen way, they are amazing friends and it just tickles me happy! \o/

Tidbits!

BuddyTV posted their TV's 50 Sexiest Men, Part 2, and look who's there: Misha Collins (#37), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (#25), Joe Flanigan (#21), Jason Momoa (#17), Christian Kane (#14), Michael Weatherly (#13), John Barrowman (#12), Simon Baker (#8), Zachary Levi (#6)...

And the rest of my lovely sexy men is in TV's 50 Sexiest Men of 2008. Jensen is 7th and Jared 1st! \o/

Oh, and I love the new NCIS spoiler that Ausiello posted: Spoiler... ) Ha! \o/

And did you see the tidbit about Psych there too?
Ausiello: This isn't scoop so much as it is a random tidbit from Super Bowl weekend: At NBC Universal's tailgate party, James Roday, Dule Hill, and Chris Meloni took on Burn Notice's Jeffrey Donovan, The O.C.'s Ben Mackenzie, and an unidentified executive's son in an impromptu game of pick-up touch football. Team Roday-Hill-Meloni prevailed by a score of 21-7. And because I know you'll ask, both teams kept their shirts on the entire game. "At one point shirts and skins were suggested," whispers my gridiron mole, "but it was too chilly."
They are just too silly for words \o/

* I'm officially giving up on House. At least for some time. After reading the summary of tonight's episode... Too much is just too much! I've had enough of Thirteen's issues and Cuddy's baby troubles and her pining after House. Ugh X(

* Jensen Ackles' My Bloody Valentine? 44+ mil. dollars at the box office! It's not much compared to real blockbusters but nobody expected this movie to be a huge hit so it's awesome to see it doing so well! :)

* Stargate SG-1, season 2 and 3 are mine now! *grabby hands* I can see some huge marathons in the near future: due South, NCIS and Stargate!
katikat: (Default)
Many things happened this year, on the fannish front I mean. Some were good, some were awesome, some were very, very bad. But some things are constant and great, no matter what...

Actors?
* Joe Flanigan is still gorgeous and hot and incredibly cute and I hope that he'll get to play something awesome and action-filled again soon. I will follow him where ever he goes :)
* Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are still gorgeous and hot and incredibly cute and I hope that they will stay the bestest friends ever! ;)

New discoveries this year?
* The Mentalist, one of the best shows currently on air!
* Leverage, which is rocking my socks!
* Sports Night, which I can't believe that I haven't discovered until lately! Shame on me ;P

Old loves?
* Supernatural - the show is finally back on track after the mess that was season 3!
* Stargate Atlantis - they took my show away from me (I still can't forgive that X/) and even though I was rather disappointed by the direction the series took in the 2nd half of the season, John Sheppard is still made of the awesomest awesome!
* NCIS - Rocking! My! Socks!

And for next year?
* I hope that the new SGA movie will be a success and that they will keep making more films - I might not like the McKeller pairing or Keller in general, but as long as I get John Sheppard to swoon over, I will keep coming back.
* I hope that we will keep SPN for one more year. They can't take away SGA and SPN away from me!
* I hope that NCIS and The Mentalist will keep going as strong as this year!
* I hope that the actors won't strike...

I just finished the translation of Michael Williams' "Galen Beknighted". I think I might cry from the happy, really. That book literally bored me to tears!

Oh, and I love this interview with Jared Padalecki from the Scream Awards that I saw pop up on my flist. It's slightly spoilery so don't approach if you want to stay completely spoiler-free! I loved this parts best:
You and Jensen are really close so is it that much harder to do those scenes where basically you have to watch Dean get torn apart and whatnot?
Yeah, we did that yesterday. He sort of talks about spoilers ) and he knocked it out of the park. He did an amazing job, he's a fantastic actor and always impresses me. Just watching him do it - it was his coverage I didn't even have a camera on me - I was just watching him and I started to like, tears were rolling down my cheek and I was going, "[fake sniffles and eye wiping] Uh...it's dusty...something flew in my eye."

Aww! I love those two more and more with every passing day \o/
