Jesus! That's so hot. I hope that this movie will be better than the first one, now that the mopiest characters are gone and it's just Mike and his old crew. I love how much fun the actors had making this movie!

My, oh my! Benedict Cumberbatch was nominated for an Oscar for playing Alan Turing in The Imitation Game: link.

That's so fantastic! First Matt Bomer won the SAG Award and the Golden Globe and was nominated for an Emmy for playing Felix Turner in The Normal Heart, and now Ben is up for an Oscar! Both for playing gay men. How awesome is that? \o/ I'll be crossing my fingers and toes for him!

Many of my favorites won last night - like Jennifer Lawrence, Robert Downey Jr. or Chris Evans - but what pleased me the most were two wins: Misha Collins' and especially Matt Bomer's! Link. I suspected Matt might win when it was announced that he was added to the official guest roster and I'm so happy it happened. SWEET! To win the Favorite Cable Actor at the end of WhiCo must have been a huge gratification for him!

Also, HBO announced that they picked up Matt's Montgomery Clift biopic Monty: link. I guess HBO was very happy with how The Normal Heart and Matt's role in it were received. Good for Matt! Both Monty and The Normal Heart are projects very close to his heart!

♥ Matt Bomer won the Critics’ Choice Television Awards for his part in The Normal Heart! This movie may not be my cuppa - I hate depressing stuff with unhappy endings - but I'm so proud of him!

♥ Rosario Dawson will be in multiple episodes of Netflix and Marvel's Daredevil.

♥ According to Dylan O'Brien, Dreamworks dropped Glimmer :( Bummer, I was really looking forward to this movie.

Star Wars VIII and IX will be written and directed by Looper's Rian Johnson. WOW! That I did not expect.

♥ It looks like Jason Momoa is playing Aquaman in the new Batman vs. Superman movie? If so, I would get actually excited about the film.

Teen Wolf S4 in 2 days!!!

Magic Mike

I watched Magic Mike with my mom. And I don't get the hoopla around it, why it's such a hit. Sure, the stripping scenes were very well done, Channing Tatum was awesome and Matt Bomer was cute but...

That's pretty much it. It was not all that funny and it had a very cliché/stereotypical plot. I would've preferred if Mike left for Miami with the others and made money out of the club and fulfilled his dreams. This way... I don't know, it was a let-down, a typical "I'm too old and want to settle down" schtick.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm happy for Channing Tatum that it was a real hit, he deserves it. And I know that it's based on his own experiences and that it was just the tip of an iceberg, that they showed just tiny bits and pieces of how ugly this business really is. But overall? Eh. I would've preferred if it was a comedy that didn't take itself that seriously.

The independent sci-fi dramedy Space Station 76 just finished filming - it took only 20 days to film! - and Matt Bomer played one of the parts, a "technician with a robotic hand who is married to a manipulative woman."

Patrick Wilson plays the unhappy and suicidal captain of the ship, while Liv Tyler stars as an assistant captain on a space ship in a Seventies-style version of the future, which follows the crew of a space station.

Might be fun :)

Matt Bomer should play the ex-lover of one of the main characters in The New Normal! Source. Nothing's finalized yet but considering the show's exec is Ryan Murphy, it's pretty much given.

If you don't know what I mean by the Ryan Murphy thing: Ryan is rep'd by Matt's husband, Simon Halls, and he's very close friends with the two of them. He cast Matt in Glee and in his upcoming movie The Normal Heart too. American Horror Story is Ryan's only project that hasn't featured Matt - yet :P

Simon, Matt and their son, Revlon Run-Walk in May

They are such an incredibly sweet family. I want to cuddle them all and tuck them into my pocket, they are just so sweet!

Also, Simon & Matt were awarded with an Inspiration Award by the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network that works to create safe schools for LGBT youth: link.

True Blood's Joe Manganiello made the Inspiration Award presentation to Slate PR executive Simon Halls and his partner White Collar's Matt Bomer, who spoke of being a gay adolescent in a small Texas town where he "did what any self-protective 14 year-old would do: sign up for the school play and the football team -- to cover my tracks."

Seriously, could this man be more perfect? \o/

ETA: More from Perez Hilton: link. Joe Manganiello seems like such a sweet guy, aww...

As various sites posted, Matt Bomer got a part in Akiva Goldsman's new movie A Winter's Tale:

Based on the acclaimed 1983 novel by Mark Helprin, the story that follows a thief (Colin Farrell) who breaks into a wealthy man’s (William Hurt) home, sparking a relationship with the man’s terminally ill daughter (Jessica Findlay-Brown) with reincarnation, a flying horse, and a time-shift of 100 years all playing a part of the plot.

Matt Bomer is set to play Colin Farrell's father! For some reason, that makes me quite giddy, no idea why. It's just... I mean... \o/ Love them both to pieces!

According to WhiCo's official Twitter:

There's a wonderful interview with Treat Williams...

... where he talks about his movie/TV/theater career, his friendship with James Franco and about Matt Bomer, among other things. It's one of the most in-depth, non-sensational interview I've read in ages: link.

And, to answer your question, Matt is just the most… I mean, they should teach a class on how young actors can be more like him. He is extraordinary - just the way he composes himself onset. He has such a great work ethic.

PC: You two seem kindred spirits in some ways. Did you pass onto him any sage wisdom?

TW: I wish he gave me advice when I was his age! He doesn’t need any advice from me or anyone.

PC: He’s got it all covered.

TW: He is going to have such a wonderful career - he’s just extraordinary. You know, I think that we could very well have the next Cary Grant on our hands and his name is Matt Bomer.

PC: Wow - high praise indeed. He’s a true triple-threat, too - what a great voice. Did you two duet at all onset?

TW: Oh, he never stops singing! We sang all the time together, actually - he tended to sing more modern stuff, whereas I prefer the ballads. [Laughs.]

Aww... That's sweet. It looks like everybody has so much fun on WhiCo's set, it's great :) And Treat Williams seems like such an indredible guy! I've loved him since Dead Heat - that hilarious zombie comedy from the 80s? - so I'm happy to read he's so cool! :)

There's a very, very long interview with the Magic Mike cast - Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello and Matt Bomer - here: link. And you literally feel just how much these guys clicked while filming the movie!

My favorite LOL-worthy moment was:

EW: Matthew, a lot of photographers have probably sent their kids to college with the money they made selling photos of you shirtless at the beach. Were you worried about playing into that image?

McConaughey: [Deadpans] This was a new challenge. I had to be pantless.

[Tatum chokes on his food laughing.]

Tatum: I didn't look at it like that till now.

Also, according to this site - link - Channing Tatum's working on the sequel already. Sweet. I'm glad that his career took off so well. He seems like a great guy :)
katikat: (S_WhiteCollar)
But mostly about Matt Bomer...

... about whom Channing Tatum posted: "Matt Bomer is one of the most talented and beautiful human beings I've met in this life." Link. Aww. Could this guy be any sweeter? No wonder I love Channing Tatum so very, very much! \o/

Also, Magic Mike is receiving great reviews, Rotten Tomatoes has it at 82%! And it did amazingly well in midnight showings, $2.05 mil.! And this is an indie movie, filmed for $7 mil. only! And the guys all seemed to have so much fun making it. Aww! I hope it becomes a huge hit and all the actors become huge stars. They deserve it so much!

S4 poster!

TVLine posted a really sweet interview with Matt Bomer: link. My favorite parts were...

TVLINE | We don’t have to worry about you leaving White Collar any time soon, right?
No, I consider White Collar my home base. I’m so lucky to get to play a character that’s very multifaceted and the writers take risks on and never get into a staid process with. They’re always challenging themselves and, thusly, me as an actor. As long as they continue to do that, I’m happy. I love my job on White Collar. I won’t be leaving it any time soon.

(...)

TVLINE | You and Tim DeKay have some of the best chemistry on-screen and off. What’s your secret?
I compare it to two kids who just hit it off on the playground and they come over for a play date and you have to call them in five times for dinner because they don’t want to stop playing. Tim has an amazing sense of humor — he makes me laugh a lot — and he understands my sense of humor. From the first time we read together, I completely understood what he was bringing to the character of Peter Burke, and I think he understood what I was bringing to Neal. It was this yin-yang that felt really easy and not forced. For me, that was really important in terms of having a long-term dynamic.

First of all, yay! He loves the role and doesn't want to leave the show! I mean, not that there have been any indications of him wanting to leave, but it's good to know that he wants to stay! And can I just AWWW at him and Tim DeKay being all cute and sweet together? \o/ It's incredible just how well these two clicked!

So, as you probably know, Matt Bomer will star in the movie adaptation of the Broadway play The Normal Heart next where he will play the AIDS stricken lover of Mark Ruffalo. What really shocked me was this, an excerpt from an interview with Ryan Murphy, the director of The Normal Heart:

You’ve also got a star-studded cast for The Normal Heart, including Mark Ruffalo, Julia Roberts, Alec Baldwin, Jim Parsons, Matt Bomer...
That is another passion project. I love Larry Kramer’s advocacy and I love him as a person, and I think young people need to see that story. I came of age during AIDS and the terror of that and the sadness and the death and the overwhelming despair. I love the story of these guys coming together and saying okay, the government is not helping us, we need to do something. Larry has been writing the script for several months with me. The other day I wrote him and said, “Were you ever scared? We need to do a scene about that.” But he said, “I was never scared, I was just angry.” So, now there’s a scene about that. It’s a big privilege for me to talk to somebody who I feel is such a great, important historical figure. We’re shooting it in two halves. We’re shooting for four weeks, and then we’ll go down and Matt has to lose like 25 pounds and then we’ll resume.

Sheesh on a pogo stick! Matt Bomer already has no body fat! Have you seen him? And can you imagine him losing 25 more frickin' pounds? He'll be just skin and bones! I mean, I know WHY he has to lose it for the part, but... 25 frickin' pounds! This slight man! Dude! /o\

According to this article - link - Jim Parsons officially came out as gay.

In an interview with the New York Times, Parsons discusses his recent work on Broadway, which includes playing a gay activist in The Normal Heart.

In reporting Parsons' affinity for the play, author Patrick Healy revealed something that has been long speculated. "The Normal Heart resonated with him on a few levels: Mr. Parsons is gay and in a 10-year relationship, and working with an ensemble again onstage was like nourishment," he wrote.

Lovely. I'm glad that he felt comfortable enough to come out.

You know, seeing him and Matt Bomer, both in stable gay relationships, I wonder what America is afraid of, why do some Americans think that gay marriage and homosexuality in general threaten their values. Boggles the mind, seriously.

Oh, and I'm glad that Parsons and Bomer will be together in the movie version of The Normal Heart. Parsons will reprise the part he played on Broadway while Matt Bomer will play the HIV positive lover of Mark Ruffalo. Heartbreaking, sure, but I hope it'll get them both more recognition.

What co-writer/producer of Star Trek Alex Kurtzman said about Benedict Cumberbatch: link.

"He’s incredible," Kurtzman said. "What he does with language is incredible. His training is amazing and he’s so magnetic, he holds the screen in any size frame, he really is a joy to watch."

I now can't wait to find out who Benedict is playing in ST. Everybody keeps praising his vocal qualities - and I agree, I SO agree! - so it must be a big part of his character, right?

And speaking of voices, I finally watched Matt Bomer's cover in Glee: link. Gosh, he has a gorgeous voice! I want to roll in the pretty!

But am I the only one who isn't sure if this song is appropriate to be sung by BROTHERS? *hides*
katikat: (wc-window)
Can be found here: link. It's not exactly new and it's slightly spoilery but I loved the part where they talked about Matt's involvement in Magic Mike:

Insider: It certainly helps when you talk about putting a speedo on backwards.
Matt: I wish it were a speedo! It's a small equilateral triangle with the thinnest string. It was dark and 5am, I couldn't get it together.

Insider: Tim, what do you think about seeing your friend in that light?
Tim: I can't wait! I can not wait! First in line to buy a ticket!
Matt: Oh god … [laughs]

Insider: I've heard from co-stars that you've got the best moves, Matt. True or false?
Matt: That is so false. Channing [Tatum] is one of the coolest people I've ever worked with and one of the best dancers I've ever seen. His dancing defies the laws of physics. He's 6' 1" and in great shape but moves his body in the most incredible ways. People will be blown away by his dancing in this.

LOL! Tim will so torment Matt with this! You just feel his glee.

Also, I love how fellow actors talk about Channing Tatum. Everybody who ever mentioned him in an interview says what a lovely guy he is. And that's so, so awesome because I really like him and I love to hear that my favorite actors are great people in RL!
katikat: (wc-neals-eye-ink)
Matt Bomer's now officially out, according to TVGuide: link. I'm glad that he took his time, that he didn't let media or anybody else force him out, that he waited until he felt comfortable saying it out loud.

What he said:

Bomer, 34, came out Saturday at the Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards, where he was honored with the New Generation Arts and Activism Award for his work in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

"I'd really especially like to thank my beautiful family: Simon, Kit, Walker, Henry," he said during his speech. "Thank you for teaching me what unconditional love is. You will always be my proudest accomplishment."

I'm really happy for him and his partner. And I hope they won't face any ugliness!
