I haven't been present the last few days because [livejournal.com profile] yami_tai was visiting! I didn't know there were so many wonderful things to see in Ostrava - and I actually live here -_-;; And then we watched the whole S3A of Teen Wolf and also bits and pieces from Children of Dune (James McAvoy!!!) and The Persuaders. Nice!

In the meantime, so many things happened on the internet. Like...

♦ This great photoshoot of Hugh Dancy: link!

♦ An article about Mads Mikkelsen talking Hannibal Lecter and Hannibal's relationship with Will Graham, and also of his own relationship with his older brother Lars: link.

♦ Wentworth Miller came out in a really powerful message: link. Good for him.

♦ Marion Cotillard replaced Natalie Portman as Lady MacBeth in the upcoming movie featuring Michael Fassbender as Macbeth: link. Interesting. I couldn't see Natalie as Lady Macbeth anyway.

I also decided to give a try to Welcome to Night Vale since everybody and their uncle are following it: link.

... I think I love you a bit :)

Before, during and after the Sundance Film Festival premiere of "Kill Your Darlings" on Friday night (January 18), all anyone could talk about, so it seemed, was Daniel Radcliffe's sexual escapades.

Maybe it was because this erotically charged Beat Generation drama represents the 23-year-old's most high-profile film since he graduated from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Or, perhaps, it had something to do with the fact that in "Darlings," he plays the poet Allen Ginsberg and spends a fair amount of the film making out, having gay sex and masturbating.

But here's the thing: Radcliffe is totally cool with all of it — and he doesn't understand why so many others aren't.

Long-ish, so cut! )

I now really want to see Kill Your Darlings. And I think I'll finally do it and watch the Harry Potter movies, just for him. I tried to watch them before but I couldn't even get through the first one, it bored me to tears. The same goes for the books, I managed 2 and... eh. But Daniel seems like an awesome person, so I guess I should give it another go :)

Simon, Matt and their son, Revlon Run-Walk in May

They are such an incredibly sweet family. I want to cuddle them all and tuck them into my pocket, they are just so sweet!

Also, Simon & Matt were awarded with an Inspiration Award by the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network that works to create safe schools for LGBT youth: link.

True Blood's Joe Manganiello made the Inspiration Award presentation to Slate PR executive Simon Halls and his partner White Collar's Matt Bomer, who spoke of being a gay adolescent in a small Texas town where he "did what any self-protective 14 year-old would do: sign up for the school play and the football team -- to cover my tracks."

Seriously, could this man be more perfect? \o/

ETA: More from Perez Hilton: link. Joe Manganiello seems like such a sweet guy, aww...

Don't Ask, Don't Tell Repeal Passes Senate Procedural Vote:

In a landmark vote for gay rights, the Senate on Saturday voted to advance legislation that would overturn the military ban on openly gay troops known as "don't ask, don't tell."

The 63-33 test vote all but guarantees the legislation will pass the Senate, possibly by day's end, and reach the president's desk before the new year.

Please, dear gods above, please, let it happen, let them repeal DADT. Please!

A federal judge in Riverside declared the U.S. military’s ban on openly gay service members unconstitutional Thursday, saying the “don't ask, don't tell” policy violates the 1st Amendment rights of lesbians and gay men.

U.S. District Court Judge Virginia A. Phillips said the policy banning gays did not preserve military readiness, contrary to what many supporters have argued, saying evidence shows that the policy in fact had a “direct and deleterious effect’’ on the military.

Phillips issued an injunction barring the government from enforcing the policy. However, the U.S. Department of Justice, which defended “don’t ask, don’t tell” during a two-week trial in Riverside, will have an opportunity to appeal that decision. Link

As much as that delights me, I bet that the Department of Justice will appeal. What an irony - the Republicans contributed to this ruling while Obama's Democratic government who promised to stop DADT will appeal for sure. I don't know if I can be any more disappointed in Obama and I had such high hopes for him...

This is an amazing quote:

"There are 6 admonishments in the Bible concerning homosexual activity and our enemies are always throwing them up to us, usually in a vicious way and very much out of context. What they don't want us to remember is that there are 362 admonishments in the Bible concerning heterosexual activity. I don't mean to imply by this that God doesn't love straight people, only that they seem to require a great deal more supervision." ~ Lynn Lavner

SyFy reacts to GLAAD's "F" grade for its depiction of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender characters.

Well, I think that it's nice that there will be a married lesbian on SGU, that's true. But the other characters they mentioned... I mean, Vincent on Eureka is gay? Since when? Was it actually mentioned or do they base their opinion on the way he talks and behaves? And was it somehow used or is he just the "token gay character"? I like what some of the comments said about the article: When you have a gay character, use it somehow in the plot, otherwise it loses any meaning - it'll be like Mallozzi's belated "Oh, BTW, Vega was lesbian" weeks after SGA ended.

And since I'm talking about that - was it ever mentioned if the medic that Sheppard wanted to save in SGA's Vegas was a man or a woman? If I remember it right, it was pretty left to our imagination. I haven't seen the eps with the audio commentaries yet so maybe it'll be explained there... But I would prefer if they left it ambiguous.

Oh, BTW, who do you think was the other gay character on SGA? Mallozzi said that there was another one besides Vega. People's money was on Lorne or Zelenka.

LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL, AND TRANSGENDER PRIDE MONTH, 2009:
"My Administration has partnered with the LGBT community to advance a wide range of initiatives. At the international level, I have joined efforts at the United Nations to decriminalize homosexuality around the world. Here at home, I continue to support measures to bring the full spectrum of equal rights to LGBT Americans. These measures include enhancing hate crimes laws, supporting civil unions and Federal rights for LGBT couples, outlawing discrimination in the workplace, ensuring adoption rights, and ending the existing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy in a way that strengthens our Armed Forces and our national security. We must also commit ourselves to fighting the HIV/AIDS epidemic by both reducing the number of HIV infections and providing care and support services to people living with HIV/AIDS across the United States."

Mr Barrack Obama, I bow to you.
