SyFy reacts to GLAAD's "F" grade for its depiction of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender characters.

Well, I think that it's nice that there will be a married lesbian on SGU, that's true. But the other characters they mentioned... I mean, Vincent on Eureka is gay? Since when? Was it actually mentioned or do they base their opinion on the way he talks and behaves? And was it somehow used or is he just the "token gay character"? I like what some of the comments said about the article: When you have a gay character, use it somehow in the plot, otherwise it loses any meaning - it'll be like Mallozzi's belated "Oh, BTW, Vega was lesbian" weeks after SGA ended.

And since I'm talking about that - was it ever mentioned if the medic that Sheppard wanted to save in SGA's Vegas was a man or a woman? If I remember it right, it was pretty left to our imagination. I haven't seen the eps with the audio commentaries yet so maybe it'll be explained there... But I would prefer if they left it ambiguous.

Oh, BTW, who do you think was the other gay character on SGA? Mallozzi said that there was another one besides Vega. People's money was on Lorne or Zelenka.

I found out that I simply do not care if gay or not. I am little afraid that tv series would be flooded with gay thing :(

Huh. So, a character is classified as 'gay' even if no one but the writers and producers know that character is gay? Does the actor know his character's gay?

And who the hell was Vega?

Why make the character gay in the first place if I don't use it on the show? I mean, if I want diversity, it would be nice to include the viewers, too.

Vega was the Lt. in 5x01 Search and Rescue and she was killed in Whispers later on. According to Mallozzi, they planned for her to ask Keller on a date - like there weren't enough people that had the hots for Keller *rolls eyes*

Yup. When he posted that, I responded in his blog, asking him if he realized how ridiculous it was. Ronon had the hots for Keller. Rodney had the hots for Keller. Vega had the hots for Keller. And if he didn't see how ridiculous it was then I didn't think anybody could explain it to him. Of course, he didn't deem it worthy to respond.

You know, I'm almost scared to rewatch Firefly, which I loved, especially Kaylee, because I'm worried that the Keller debacle will mean I hate her too.

Because Teyla was with a child at that time which made her totally unattractive, of course *snorts* Once Teyla had a kid, she totally lost her "hot" status and they had to quickly replaced it with boosting up Keller's hotness. I mean, Keller must have been leaking pheromones like crazy, otherwise it's inexplicable.

they've mentioned Vincent being gay a few times -but blink and you'll miss it - I was looking for it becasue I thought he was cute with Henry's assistant in season one. But the assistant seems to have disapeared *sigh*

Really? I must have missed that. Bummer. I just wish that they would actually do something about it. I mean, everybody gets to date on this show why not give Vincent a boyfriend too? It might be hilarious!

I'm telling you, Henry's assistant who dissapered after the alien abduction ep - they could bring him back. He's been away - someplace - for the past few years and they have a big reunion.
