This is a wonderful interview with Bryan Fuller on sexuality as a spectrum on Hannibal. I love what he said about Alana and Margot, about Alana's bisexuality. And about Hannibal and Will's romance, how it went from subtext to text based on Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy's performance, how the romance became organic. Gosh, so wonderful! I'm very content with how the show ended because it seemed like all the main protagonists got what they wanted in the end, however unhealthy that was for them... I would rate this finale up there with House's, not exactly happy but nonetheless perfect.

NBC just canceled Hannibal: link. I mean, with its current ratings, the writing was pretty much on the wall - it's been pulling .5 demo only, that's lower than most shows on the CW - I'm still crushed, though :(

I've read many Hannibal S3 related articles in the last few days and weeks but this quote by Bryan Fuller must be one of my favorite:

"[Hannibal] is very much trying to define himself outside of his relationship to Will Graham, but he keeps being drawn back to that dynamic because it's unlike anything he's experienced in his life."

Source

Gosh, I love the relationship between Will and Hannibal. It's so screwed and wrong and dark - and yet, it fascinates me to no end because they are literally obsessed with each other!

There's a wonderful, WONDERFUL article by Digitalspy where Bryan Fuller gave us some tantalizing - and VERY vague - spoilers! Link. My favorite bits were numbers 3, 6 and ESPECIALLY 9! Wow, 9 just blew me over! I now cannot wait for S3! \o/

Damn, that article's sexy: spoilery for upcoming episodes! ) Wow! Just... wow! I wonder how it passed the censorship filter O.o

"You're obsessed with Will Graham..." YES! Gosh, I love that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's unhealthy and crazy, whatever, this is a TV show, not real life and I'm sane enough to distinguish betwen those two things.

What I love about it is that it's one MAN obsessed with another MAN. Not a common thing, especially in the US TV where the higher uppers are still afraid of the "gay cooties" even if said obsession is NOT sexual. You get a dime a dozen obsessive relationships where a MAN is after a WOMAN or sometimes - though more rarely - the other way around. But two men? Awesome!

Do you know of any other man-on-man obsessive relationships? I remember one, in the 80s show Houston Knights, where a crazy murderer got so obsessed with LaFiamma that he broke into his flat, touching everything, he even tried LaFiamma's clothes on. That was quite... suggestive ;P

I haven't been present the last few days because [livejournal.com profile] yami_tai was visiting! I didn't know there were so many wonderful things to see in Ostrava - and I actually live here -_-;; And then we watched the whole S3A of Teen Wolf and also bits and pieces from Children of Dune (James McAvoy!!!) and The Persuaders. Nice!

In the meantime, so many things happened on the internet. Like...

♦ This great photoshoot of Hugh Dancy: link!

♦ An article about Mads Mikkelsen talking Hannibal Lecter and Hannibal's relationship with Will Graham, and also of his own relationship with his older brother Lars: link.

♦ Wentworth Miller came out in a really powerful message: link. Good for him.

♦ Marion Cotillard replaced Natalie Portman as Lady MacBeth in the upcoming movie featuring Michael Fassbender as Macbeth: link. Interesting. I couldn't see Natalie as Lady Macbeth anyway.

I also decided to give a try to Welcome to Night Vale since everybody and their uncle are following it: link.

You can read about it here, on TVLine's web: link. What I really, really adored and what I can't wait to see, is this:

We will ultimately see "a scrappy Will Graham coming out swinging... We get to see what happens when he fights back."

YES! YES! The whole S1, Will was Hannibal's victim, maybe not cut and eaten but definitely dissected. I can't wait to see him use that big brain of his, his special ability, AGAINST Hannibal knowingly, with purpose. I mean, Will really is fragile, always at risk of a mental breakdown because of his empathy disorder, but he's also smart, cunning and ruthless and I want to see him turn all that against Hannibal, I want see them clash head-on, both knowing what the other is capable of!

It's hard to shake off something that's already under your skin... )

And a sweet BTS pic! Hugh Dancy has the best smile. It's so beautiful...

katikat: (Hannibal_WillGlasses)
It took me a whole week to write down anything about this episode. Why? Well, I was actually so full of feelings. If I tried to put them into words, I would pretty much go all "ADAHFANSDBAIALSDFKKFJK!!!" Kinda sorta...

Have I broken you? )

And if anyone has ever doubted that Will's a submissive...

Exhibit A: Hugh Dancy in Hannibal...

Exhibit B: Hugh Dancy in Venus in Fur

I wonder if that was a conscious reaction on Hugh Dancy's part, to play the scene like that, or if he didn't even realize it. I wonder if he's consciously playing Will as a submissive man. And I also wonder if that, his submissivity, is why everybody is feeling protective of him. I mean, everybody else - Hannibal, Jack and Alana, even Beverly - are pretty much alphas, top dogs, people who make decisions and lead. And every one of them feels the need to... protect Will or manipulate him. Food for thought.
