♥ Saw Star Wars: The Force Awakens today. I loved Finn and Rey, and what we saw of Poe. Leia was also awesome. But Han... spoilers ) And Kylo Ren... spoilers ) I would say 7/10 - some good action but it didn't inspire a sense of awe in me like the previous movies.

♥ Saw the trailers for Point Break - YES! Creed - eh. Captain America: Civil War - ok.

♥ My mom offered to buy me a wireless mouse for Xmas. So, I ordered it today because they still promise to deliver it in time. But I added a little something for her - a purple tablet cover. That way, if the parcel does NOT arrive in time, we will both get a little something next week :)

♥ Yes, I'll give my mom a new tablet for Xmas - 10.1" Prestigio Multipad. Her 8" has been wonky these last few weeks. And also some Davidoff perfumes - 3 scents. And as a funny bit, neon stickers/reflective items for safe walking in the dark, they're neon pink and really cute :)) And also a purple document case, water- and shatterproof, made of aluminum. I love to give her "serious" gifts and then something funny.

--> It's official! Orlando Bloom's Will Turner will be in Pirates of the Caribbean 5! Source.

--> There will be a RED series on NBC: Source. For me, the best part of the first movie was the push and pull between "old" Frank and "young" Cooper. I hope they keep that in the show because this relationship grounded the movie - which was otherwise ridiculous! - for me. And it would be a great sorta father-son relationship to explore.

--> And Mads Mikkelsen and Alan Tudyk joined Star Wars: Rogue One: Source. Let me guess, Mads Mikkelsen will play the bad guy...

I'm still not excited about it - and I used to be a huge fan! - but I'm disappointed that these movies will debunk all the books, start a whole new universe, and I really don't care about the OCs shown here. I mean, why should I? So far, the head honchos didn't give me any reason to.

My interest in SW has always been Luke or Obi-Wan, basically the Jedis. So, as long as there are Jedis, I'll watch it, true. I just need to see more to be really hyped. Right now, I'm mildly interested - it's a sci-fi movie, after all! - but not fannishly obsessed (unlike when I saw the trailer for Star Trek or Star Trek Into Darkness).

I used to be a huge Star Wars fan back in the day. Luke and the Force and the wonderful Jedi Knights... Man, those were good times! But the more I hear about the new SW movie, the less I want to see it and the more annoyed/aggravated/irrate/whatever I feel.

Like, seriously? Spoilers I found all over the net, mostly me bitching about it something fierce! )

FUCK. IT. I think that soon, the day will come we will be all sorry that Lucas let go of this franchise and we will gladly remember the good old days of Revenge of the Sith.

♥ Matt Bomer won the Critics’ Choice Television Awards for his part in The Normal Heart! This movie may not be my cuppa - I hate depressing stuff with unhappy endings - but I'm so proud of him!

♥ Rosario Dawson will be in multiple episodes of Netflix and Marvel's Daredevil.

♥ According to Dylan O'Brien, Dreamworks dropped Glimmer :( Bummer, I was really looking forward to this movie.

Star Wars VIII and IX will be written and directed by Looper's Rian Johnson. WOW! That I did not expect.

♥ It looks like Jason Momoa is playing Aquaman in the new Batman vs. Superman movie? If so, I would get actually excited about the film.

Teen Wolf S4 in 2 days!!!

So, the cast of the new Star Wars movie was announced... Am I the only one who thought, "That's it?" I hoped they were being so secretive because there would be something huge or surprising to announce, like a big star or the female POC lead that some magazines speculated about. But nothing! Mostly white and totally bland. Why? Basically, my interest in this movie is now zero. I guess it can only go up.

I had a similar reaction to the casting of the Fantastic Four reboot. Bland. Totally bland. Black actor as the "funny one" of the bunch again, his sister white instead of a POC female lead... Blah!

... That JJ Abrams cast Benedict Cumberbatch in Star Wars and that's the reason why he dropped out of Benicio Del Toro's Crimson Peak, because the filming schedules clashed: link. Another web is saying, that he will be playing a Sith, a major part in all three upcoming SW movies: link.

I'm all for it, even though I take it with a bag of salt, this is just a rumor, nothing confirmed. But I would LOVE to see him in SW. It would double or even triple my interest in it. Though I hope he won't be the bad guy, again - he was awesome in STID, so creepy and menacing, but I would prefer him as the good guy, for once. I mean, all his blockbuster parts have been villainous so far. But in the end, I just want him in SW, that would be enough for me, I must admit.

What he said:

Director J.J. Abrams has revealed that Star Wars: Episode VII will begin filming in early 2014, with the production (...) setting up base camp here in the UK.

"Most likely we are going to be moving to London at the end of the year for the Star Wars movie," said Abrams, before revealing that he'd prefer to shoot in Los Angeles and the decision to shoot in the UK - which was made before he became attached to the project - "drives me insane".

As for his approach to Episode VII, the Star Trek Into Darkness director remained tight-lipped, offering "no comment" when asked if the new films would employ elements of the Expanded Universe and stating only that "I think that the thing is so big and so massive to so many people that the key to moving forward is honoring but not revering what went before."

Source

Honestly, I would prefer if they didn't connect the movies in any way to the previous two trilogies. Just give the whole thing a fresh start and go from there. It really helped Star Trek, what with the whole timeline reboot, and I think dropping Luke and Leia would be the correct way to move forward. Let the original movies continue in a tie-in form, don't retcon the novels, and just start fresh with new characters.

Also, I hope that since they will be filming in the UK, some of my favorite actors will appear in it. I realized, to my surprise, that these days, I'm fangirling over British guys mostly: James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Tom Hardy, Hugh Dancy, Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston... I don't know, it feels like Hollywood's pool of actors has been quite bland as of late.

Hamill confirmed his earlier comments that George Lucas wanted to know if they were interested, and that the filmmakers have been talking to [him, Ford & Fisher]. Lucas also told Hamill that if they didn’t want to do the sequels, “they wouldn’t cast another actor in our parts; they would write us out.” And on that day, George Lucas finally did something right again. Hamill went on to say, “I can tell you right away that we haven’t signed any contracts. We’re in the stage where they want us to go in and meet with Michael Arndt, who is the writer, and Kathleen Kennedy, who is going to run Lucasfilm.”

(...)

“I’m assuming—because I haven’t talked to the writers—that these movies would be about our offspring, like my character would be sort of in the Obi-wan range [as] an influential character. When I found out [while making the original trilogy] that ultimate good news/bad news joke the good news is there’s a real attractive, hot girl in the universe; the bad news is she’s your sister. I thought, ‘Well, I’m going to wind up like Sir Alec [Guinness]. I’m going to be a lonely old hermit living out in some kind of desert igloo with a couple of robots.’”

He seems like such a cool dude! I love his sense of humor, very self-deprecating. And until I read this article, I haven't even realized just how much I wanted Luke back in a very Obi-Wan like role. I could do without Leia and Han, but I really want Luke back. He has always been my favorite.

Also, I'm not sure if Carrie Fisher will even be able to return. She was just hospitalized for basically going nuts during a performance. Looks like she's having some very serious mental issues. Source.

Just JJ Abrams all excited about the movie. Lovely!

Also, Abrams is set to direct the new Star Wars movie. At first, he refused because of his commitment to Star Trek, but Kathleen Kennedy, the Lucasfilm boss, convinced him. Source. I think it's really cool. Abrams is to sci-fi what Peter Jackson is to fantasy. The whole thing has only one downside - it looks like Abrams won't direct Star Trek 3, only produce it :(

According to Collider - link - rumor has it that Matthew Vaughn dropped out of directing the XMFC sequel because he was offered Star Wars VII! Can you imagine it? Matthew Vaugh directing the new SW movie? That would be cool, so cool! On the other hand, I'm still miffed that he won't be directing X-Men: Days of Future Past :(

Lucas just sold Lucasfilm to Disney and they immediately announced a new Star Wars movie for 2015!!! OMG! OMGOMGOMG! *runs in circles*

The Walt Disney Company just bought LucasFilm for $4.05 billion in cash and stock, and announced that there will be a new Star Wars movie to be released in 2015! That movie will be Star Wars: Episode 7!!!! It sounds like there will be more as well!

Source

Eeeeeeeeeeep! I hope that Disney will have as much success with SW as it's been having with Marvel's stuff lately! A new SW movie. Who would've thought that?! *flappy hands*

And Den of Geek noted, that means The Avengers 2, Justice League and Star Wars for 2015!!! As a sci-fi fan, I'm in heaven *vbg*
