From Examiner: link (beware, it's slightly spoilery!).

My favorite part:

How much will Sam have to step in and kind of take care of his brother, in the next few episodes, instead of the other way around, as it's always been?

J.P.: That happens quite a bit from here on out. Sam finds himself in a situation where Dean’s always been the sturdy, gruff guy, not really paying attention to his emotion. But now Sam, by virtue of he can’t pay attention to his emotion anymore, is having to go be the strong guy and ‘Hey, this is the way things need to get done.’ He doesn’t have time to think of everything else.

And this, exactly this is the reason why I could never hate or stop watching Supernatural - because of the depth of love between the brothers. Never before and never after - with the exception of Children of Dune - have I encountered a show/movie that portrayed such a deep and all consuming love between siblings, with this love being the focus and front and center of the show/movie. For that, I'll always cherish SPN.

-- Thor 2 will be directed by Patty Jenkins, the Monster director: link. I think it's great that Marvel's actually thinking out of the box. Are they the first one who hired a female director for their action comic blockbuster? But it's too bad that the movie won't be out till November 2013!!!

-- Tricia Helfer got the main part in TNT's new pilot, Scent of the Missing: link. The series will be based on a book by Susannah Charleson and Helfer will play a tenacious K-9 Search and Rescue volunteer and "she gets the job done with the help of a mischievous golden retriever named Puzzle." This might be good! I really like Tricia Helfer.

-- A longer trailer for James McAvoy's Arthur Christmas: link! OMGosh, this looks hilarious. I LOL'd more than once just watching the trailer. For once a Xmas movie I could get behind!

-- I unfollowed Jared Padalecki's official Twitter over on... Twitter. Oh, don't get me wrong, he's incredibly sweet and kind and all that jazz, but I realized I didn't have to know that much about him. He posts quite personal stuff there and, well... I guess I prefer keeping some distance from the BTS stuff of my favorite show. If he posted about his projects? Great. But Gen's pregnancy and stuff like that? Eh, not my thing. Sorry.

-- First reviews of the new The Three Musketeers are out - and most of them tear the movie down because it's not true to the book and historical detail. Seriously? There are air ships in the frickin' movie! It's steam punk! What did you expect, you idiots?!

Don't worry, Supernatural fans. Even if a fantastic movie role comes his way, [Jared Padalecki]'s not interested in ditching Sam Winchester any time soon.

"I wouldn't. I'm a Texas guy, and the good and bad of that is that I'm always, first and foremost, loyal. If it weren't for Supernatural, I wouldn't have a lot of the blessings that I have today, so I'm going to play it out," he tells the site. "I'm going to give it my all. I'll be with the cast and crew for the remainder, as long as the fans want us on the air and the network obliges. I'd love to have a movie career. I'm still pretty young. I'm not going to be 29 for another month. So if the show goes another year, I'm 30. If it goes for five years, I'm 34. I think I'm hopefully in the dawn of my career, not in the dusk, so I think I'd be happier sticking it out with Supernatural." Link

Seriously, could this guy be more adorable? And gorgeous?

LOL! That's all... Source (spoilers for SPN S6!).

The first with Jared Padalecki, the second with Jensen Ackles - BEWARE, CHOCK-FULL OF SPOILERS FOR S6! It sounds so good, seriously!
katikat: (Default)
I love what Jared said about Jensen in this article (beware of directing spoilers for SPN):

"Honestly, he has a great, contagious love for the work. When you're doing 16-hour days for eight or nine months, you have to remember to be excited about it and to be passionate about it. Jensen has that!"

I want to squish them silly 8)

Wow!

According to JustJared, they're considering Jared Padalecki for the role of the new Conan? Wow. I mean, he's tall enough and pretty butch these days but Conan? I'm not sure I can see him in that part. On the other hand, I had my doubts about Daniel Craig as Bond and now I love him as 007. Still, I would prefer to see Jason Momoa as Conan. Boy, he would be awesome and on SGA, he has already proven that he can swing a sword like nobody's business!

Wow, I still can't believe that Supernatural won the People's Choice Award for best SF/F show. Wow! Congratulations! I hope that we will get to see Kripke talking about it, on the S5 DVD box set if nothing else.

And both Jared and Jensen are engaged to be married very, very soon if the rumors are true. Congratulations. But that's rather it for me. I'm not really interested in the personal lives of the actors. Sure, it's cute to hear about their dogs or how Jared sucks at golfing - but I could care less about their love life *shrugs*

I'm not and I've never been a fan of either Danneel Harris or Genevieve Cortese (or Sandy McCoy before that). I've seen them in various shows and they never made an impression on me. I'm not bashing them, I'm just not their fan, I don't go out of my way to find their movies/series. They aren't more beautiful or more talented than dozens of other actresses. And just because I'm a fan of Jared and Jensen, there's no fan law that orders me to automatically become a fan of their soon-to-be-wives - remember the mess when Jared and Sandy broke up? No, thank you. And it makes me rather annoyed that a big part of the fandom accuses me of being a bad fan or, I don't know, a wanker if I don't immediately become a fan of Danneel and Genevieve by proxy. I think it's actually rather insulting for the actresses if you become their fan just because they are someone's fiancées.

Which brings me to the point of my entry - RPS fics and J2 in this case. Yes, I still read CWRPS stories regardless of the marital status of the actors. Why? Because 95% of stories that I read are AUs with original characters that are modeled after Jared and Jensen and that's it. If they were named Dick and Larry instead of Jared and Jensen, nothing would change. There are stories with businessman!Jensen and veterinarian!Jared, singer!Jensen and ranch-owner!Jared, physical-therapist!Jensen and assassin!Jared etc. etc. I read these fics as I would watch a movie where the characters are portrayed by Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. And those have nothing to do with the personal lives of the actors.

Enough meta-ing for 9am!

Last night, I was watching vids from the Supernatural con that was held last weekend in Chicago. I watched takayanaoe's vids and my favorite parts?

* Jensen told a funny story about how he had to wipe off sweat of Jared in between lines during a scene. Jared laughed about Jensen knowing his sweat spots.
* Jensen talked about how exhausting emotional scenes were. He had said that a couple of times in the past already but it's always interesting, the way he describes the difference between being sore and being emotionally drained.
* They talked about working with Kim Manners. I loved Jensen talking about All Hell Breaks Loose p2, about the filming of the scene with Dean talking to a dead Sam...

Also, Jensen looked exceptionally gorgeous in his dark shirt. Wow!

ETA: Oh, I forgot the food sharing! Or better said, Jared finishing Jensen's meals :P

You know, reading the Twitter reports from the latest SPN con I realized one thing - I like the SGA cons and reports better. Why? Because the SGA actors keep their significant others out of the spotlight.

Don't get me wrong here. I'm happy that Jensen is happy with Danneel and that Jared is happy with Genevieve. But I think it would be wiser if they kept their relationships more private. And no, I don't say it out of jealousy or some misguided belief that Jared and Jensen would fall madly in love with each other if it wasn't for their girlfriends. No, I just vividly remember the bruhaha that turned the fandom upside down when Jared and Sandy broke up. It was his fault or her fault or who knows whose fault and it was embarrassing for everybody involved. Talk about overexposure. Compare that to Joe Flanigan's attitude - he tells a funny story or two about his kids and wife, but he keeps them separate from his career. I think that it helps the fans separate the actor from his role and his career from his private life.

So yeah, I think that it would be wiser if Jared and Jensen kept the private part of their lives more private. It would give the crazy fans less fodder and help the actors maintain some privacy.

* I'm now the proud owner of SG-1 S4&5 on DVD!

* I started reading James Swallow's SGA tie-in "Nightfall".

* I watched two eps of Numb3rs last night, only four more to go and I'm all caught up:
-> 513... )
-> 514... )

* [livejournal.com profile] juice817 posted the most awesome LA con reports about Jared, Jensen, Misha etc.!
katikat: (Default)
[livejournal.com profile] ckll posted some awesome scans from the February Venice magazine, an interview with Jensen Ackles, and there was a part that was really heart-warming for me. The reporter asked if there was a friendly rivalry between Jared and Jensen because of the both of them filming slasher flicks during the hiatus and Jensen said that no, there wasn't and he pulled out his cell phone and read the message Jared had sent him some time back. And it said:
"Hey dude, thinking about you, hope it's going well. Kick ass. Enjoy."
Just the "thinking about you" made me want to run around and flap my hands in delight. They are just too cute for words, and it doesn't matter if you are a J2 slasher or not. Even in a completely gen way, they are amazing friends and it just tickles me happy! \o/

Tidbits!

BuddyTV posted their TV's 50 Sexiest Men, Part 2, and look who's there: Misha Collins (#37), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (#25), Joe Flanigan (#21), Jason Momoa (#17), Christian Kane (#14), Michael Weatherly (#13), John Barrowman (#12), Simon Baker (#8), Zachary Levi (#6)...

And the rest of my lovely sexy men is in TV's 50 Sexiest Men of 2008. Jensen is 7th and Jared 1st! \o/

Oh, and I love the new NCIS spoiler that Ausiello posted: Spoiler... ) Ha! \o/

And did you see the tidbit about Psych there too?
Ausiello: This isn't scoop so much as it is a random tidbit from Super Bowl weekend: At NBC Universal's tailgate party, James Roday, Dule Hill, and Chris Meloni took on Burn Notice's Jeffrey Donovan, The O.C.'s Ben Mackenzie, and an unidentified executive's son in an impromptu game of pick-up touch football. Team Roday-Hill-Meloni prevailed by a score of 21-7. And because I know you'll ask, both teams kept their shirts on the entire game. "At one point shirts and skins were suggested," whispers my gridiron mole, "but it was too chilly."
They are just too silly for words \o/

Many things happened this year, on the fannish front I mean. Some were good, some were awesome, some were very, very bad. But some things are constant and great, no matter what...

Actors?
* Joe Flanigan is still gorgeous and hot and incredibly cute and I hope that he'll get to play something awesome and action-filled again soon. I will follow him where ever he goes :)
* Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are still gorgeous and hot and incredibly cute and I hope that they will stay the bestest friends ever! ;)

New discoveries this year?
* The Mentalist, one of the best shows currently on air!
* Leverage, which is rocking my socks!
* Sports Night, which I can't believe that I haven't discovered until lately! Shame on me ;P

Old loves?
* Supernatural - the show is finally back on track after the mess that was season 3!
* Stargate Atlantis - they took my show away from me (I still can't forgive that X/) and even though I was rather disappointed by the direction the series took in the 2nd half of the season, John Sheppard is still made of the awesomest awesome!
* NCIS - Rocking! My! Socks!

And for next year?
* I hope that the new SGA movie will be a success and that they will keep making more films - I might not like the McKeller pairing or Keller in general, but as long as I get John Sheppard to swoon over, I will keep coming back.
* I hope that we will keep SPN for one more year. They can't take away SGA and SPN away from me!
* I hope that NCIS and The Mentalist will keep going as strong as this year!
* I hope that the actors won't strike...

I just finished the translation of Michael Williams' "Galen Beknighted". I think I might cry from the happy, really. That book literally bored me to tears!

Oh, and I love this interview with Jared Padalecki from the Scream Awards that I saw pop up on my flist. It's slightly spoilery so don't approach if you want to stay completely spoiler-free! I loved this parts best:
You and Jensen are really close so is it that much harder to do those scenes where basically you have to watch Dean get torn apart and whatnot?
Yeah, we did that yesterday. He sort of talks about spoilers ) and he knocked it out of the park. He did an amazing job, he's a fantastic actor and always impresses me. Just watching him do it - it was his coverage I didn't even have a camera on me - I was just watching him and I started to like, tears were rolling down my cheek and I was going, "[fake sniffles and eye wiping] Uh...it's dusty...something flew in my eye."

Aww! I love those two more and more with every passing day \o/
katikat: (Default)
I just ordered The Sentinel S1 on DVD. I suddenly felt a strong urge to see the show again. I mean, Jim and Blair and Simon! \o/ Too bad that the other seasons aren't out on DVD yet :( Would you believe that I saw that show in three different languages and none of them was English?

Also, I added Early Edition S1 to my Amazon wish list. How I loved this show! *sigh* Would you believe that I have no idea how it ended, though? The same goes for The Pretender. My interest just waned. But that's what DVDs are for, right? :)

And actors. I love Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles. I love to read about them, about their con attendances, about their banter and bickering off-screen, about the pranks. But I don't feel any urge to see them in something else besides SPN.

With Joe Flanigan, it's just the opposite. It's enough for me to know that he's happy with his wife and his three sons, I don't need details or interviews etc. But I already bought two movies that he was in just because he was in them. And that's why I will keep buying SGA in any sort and form, as long as he's in it. And I will look for more movies/series with him in the future. I hope that he'll get to play detective again. I love him as a cop! :)

Oh, and I re-watched SGA's Ghost in the Machine. I do understand why some people might not like the main storyline of this ep, but I adore, love the the beginning. Flying monkeys! Jumper mishap! John immediately knowing that the flickering lights were Rodney's fault. His "Rodney!" when the bolt almost hit him! It's so cool that when I feel down, I watch the first ten minutes over and over again! \o/
katikat: (Default)
* I think I'm losing interest in Eureka. The series lost most of its "shiny" and with the more quirky characters like spoilers ) gone, the show lost a lot of what made it attractive to me in the first place *sigh*

* Hm, did Jared grow even more huge over the hiatus or what? I mean, watching SPN's ep 4x01 again, Jensen looks literally tiny next to him - small and slim - and we know that in reality, Jensen is definitely not tiny. But Jared's muscled arms, his shoulders... Wow!

* A funny SGA McShep fic rec! "A Place On The Corner" by [livejournal.com profile] almostnever. John owns a bakery, Rodney is a scientist. Such a warm, feel!good fic with no angst whatsoever. Just a fluffy romance. Words: 8.000+.
katikat: (Default)
So yeah, I've already watched the season 4 premiere like 4 times... Me, obssessed? Naaaaaaah ;P And after watching it so many times, I really love the new music. I mean, the scores. It's more of an undertone to the episode, it makes it stand out more than in previous seasons - or maybe I'm just more sensitive to it now that I learned more about the music on SGA and Joel Goldsmith's beautiful scores. I especially loved the building crescendo in the last scene when the revelation came. Awesome!

And you know what? Some spoilery thoughts for 4x01... )

Also, I love this little interview with Jim Beaver:
I asked Jim to describe his two co-stars in two sentences. Jared came easy.
“Jared Padalecki is the world’s tallest rascal. He’s irreverent, full of jokes, full of fun and really, really good at what he does.”

Jensen took a bit more thought.
“Jensen’s not as wild as Jared, but he’s just as funny and he’s really deeply devoted to what he does for a living. He’s a sweet guy, which is something coming from a guy like me.”
katikat: (Default)
* My birthday pressie is here, [livejournal.com profile] dinofly. And it's awesome! *hugs the book* Thank you so much :)

* Hehe, Jared and Jensen attended the Red Bull SoapBox Derby in Vancouver! They are so hot and awesome! *swoons*

* After reading Joe Mallozzi's blog, I feel even more angry about the cancellation of SGA. Now I'm literally furious! Joe M.'s spoilery comment on the latest ep of SGA and possible future consequences that could have been explored in S6... )
katikat: (Default)
Some interesting tidbits about Jared and Jensen from the companion:
* Sam Ferris: "Working with the guys is absolutely fantastic. Those boys are two of the nicest, gentlest, most professional guys you'll ever work with. And they're hilarious."
* Jim Beaver: "What I feel toward Jared and Jensen is similar to the way Bobby feels toward Sam and Dean. It's less parent-child relationship, though, it's much more like I got a couple of kid brothers."
* Alona Tal (she was in the Israeli army!): "When you work with Jared and Jensen, they are the most hilarious duo. Together, they share a brain or something."
* Chad Lindberg: "Jared and Jensen are the two sweetest guys in the world."
* Jeffrey Dean Morgan: "Dean took (John's death) a lot harder than Sam did. I think it's because Jensen loves me more than Jared does."
* Samantha Smith: "It's funny - these maternal feelings come out in me when I'm around them, even though they're way too old to really be my kids. I do feel very protective of them and want to make sure they're doing okay."
* Jeannie Chow (key hairstylist): "(Jared's) hair gets big and curly in the rain. (...) Jensen's hair just grow so fast, you have to cut it almost twice a week so it looks the same all the time. It's like a Chia Pet. I've never seen anybody whose hair grows as fast as Jensen's."

So, I finished reading the book. Overall though, it feels like it just scraped the surface. Maybe if they cut the ep summaries to bare minimum and moved the quotes to the margins, they could squeeze much more in. Every ep commentary has the same structure - writer, director, sometimes actor, hair, makeup, props, music - so it feels a bit superficial, like it's jumping from one place to another without paying attention to anything properly. But it's still interesting and a good addition to the SPN collection :)
