Jason Momoa is in talks to be in the new Batman vs. Superman movie: link. Which part is still secret. Well, I wouldn't count on him actually getting the part anyway. Remember when him playing Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy was almost a done deal and in the end they went with Dave Bautista because Momoa demanded more money?

Ben Whishaw will play Freddie Mercury in his biopic: link. I love Ben but I would've preferred Sacha Baron Cohen. Too bad he walked out when they turned it from an R into a PG-13 movie. Like, really. A movie about a man as flamboyant PG-13?

The new Terminator movie will be called Terminator: Genesis: link. And Paramount obviously still wants Tom Hardy for John Conner! NICE! GIMME!

And there will be another Jack Reacher movie, starring Tom Cruise: link. NICE! I really liked the first one. I know that Tom Cruise doesn't look anything like Jack Reacher does in the books but I don't mind, I just adore it when people underestimate him because of his relatively small stature and then he kicks their asses!

So, Marvel cast the lead in GotG:

Chris Pratt. Source. I haven't seen him in anything and he might be an excellent actor, I'm not bashing him or anything. It's just... I thought they would cast someone with more... gravitas, so to speak. Chris Pratt looks like a cuddly bear.

Another casting choice, this time for Drax the Destroyer:

The part was offered to Jason Momoa. He wasn't cast yet, his agents made a counter-offer, so... But from what's being said, Marvel was smitten with his performance. Source.

They lost me a bit with the lead but now they have my attention again. Please, do cast Jason Momoa! The man has such an amazing on-screen presence... *_*

Michael Fassbender was attached to Guy Ritchie's Excalibur before it was canned? And he should've been in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy but had to drop out because of X-Men First Class? (Tom Hardy took over his part, BTW.) Well, I would've loved to see him in TTSS, but thank you, thank you, thank you, Mr. Fassbender for sticking to XMFC. I'm certain that TTSS will be fantastic, but XMFC wouldn't have been the same without the amazing chemistry between you and James McAvoy!

Well, the heavy rains of the previous few days did a number on our house. Large parts of the south facade simply fell off. Yesterday morning, the facade was okay, then I come back from meeting my boss and... It had to have just dropped off during the morning when I was gone. I've been trying to get in touch with the mason who worked on the west part of our house - he did a really great job there - but so far, no luck *sigh*

According to Cinemaspy, SyFy is considering dropping the BSG: Blood&Chrome project. Are they for real? I mean, I've been defending SyFy and its decisions for years but this? They really are moving more and more away from their roots!

White Collar S3's cast and crew photo here. Wow, that's a lot of people! O.o

BBC ordered S3 of Luther: link.

Well, Jason Momoa's Conan the Barbarian definitely won't pay off - after 10 days, it earned only $22 mil. worldwide. It's too bad. I hoped for a better outing for him in the "big league" :(

I'm now the proud owner of Scarecrow and Mrs King S2 on DVD. Woohoo! Love the show.

Although Captain America did better in the US than X-Men First Class - $165 mil. to $145 mil. - worldwide it did worse. Overall, CA earned $316 mil. so far whereas XMFC $351 mil. If there is a CA sequel but not a XMFC one, I'll be pissed. Oh, don't get me wrong, I want both movies to have part 2, but I can see Marvel pushing CA more than XMFC, what with The Avengers etc.

Saw the trailer for Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy: link. The funny thing is, the music is from XMFC, the score is identical. But it'll be great to see Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hardy in a movie together again, they acted alongside in Stuart: A Life Backwards already.

Jason Momoa's Conan the Barbarian is a huge flop. Yeesh! It cost $90 mil. to make and over the first weekend it earned only $10 mil. *cringes* Lionsgate will be lucky if the film doesn't end in red numbers.

Conan!

The 2 minute long official trailer for Conan the Barbarian looks fantastic. Jason Momoa is sizzling hot in it. I hope it's a hit because he deserves to be a big blockbuster star. Also, this makes me want to re-read some of the Conan books by Robert E. Howard!

... As Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones. Wow! Doesn't look at all like the goofball he usually is, does he?

OMG! EEE!

Jason Momoa got the part of Conan the Barbarian!

I hear that Millennium Films, Lionsgate, and rights holder Paradox Entertainment have approved Jason Momoa to star in Conan, the rebirth of the Robert E. Howard-created series. The brawny star of Stargate Atlantis who also stars in HBO's Game of Thrones, Momoa got the nod over Kellan Lutz, the Twilight guy. I told you that the search for Conan had come down to the duo. Sources said that director Marcus Nispel was sold on Momoa, and won over the filmmakers by shooting a few trial scenes that allowed Momoa to wield a sword and behave very Schwarzenegger-like. This keeps the film on course for a March 15 production start in Bulgaria, and it closes a long ordeal in bringing the saga back to the screen. Link

This makes me so, so happy! I just love to watch Jason swing a sword and fight, there's this grace in him and just fascinates!

I think I should read some Conan books now, shouldn't I? Eeeee!!!

Wow!

According to JustJared, they're considering Jared Padalecki for the role of the new Conan? Wow. I mean, he's tall enough and pretty butch these days but Conan? I'm not sure I can see him in that part. On the other hand, I had my doubts about Daniel Craig as Bond and now I love him as 007. Still, I would prefer to see Jason Momoa as Conan. Boy, he would be awesome and on SGA, he has already proven that he can swing a sword like nobody's business!

Jason Momoa was cast as Khal Drogo in HBO's Game of Thrones, a pilot (maybe a series if picked up) based on George R. R. Martin's books. I'm glad for him. He deserves a great role :)

NCIS: Los Angeles and The Good Wife get full season pick-ups - how awesome is that? Lotsa, I know. Sam and G.! *vbg*

Stargate assailant gets 5 years in jail:

A Los Angeles judge Wednesday sentenced Dominic Bando to five years in prison for assaulting Stargate Atlantis actor Jason Momoa, officials said.

Momoa needed 140 stitches after Bando hit him in the face with a pint beer glass that shattered during an altercation at the Bird Cafe in Los Angeles last year.

Wow, assault with a deadly weapon. No wonder since Jason needed 140 stitches! Sheesh!

Reading the SGA tie-ins that are set in S1 of the show, I have to say that if the screen writers portrayed Ford the way he's shown in the books, I might have even loved him. Cute and interesting and funny and loyal and capable... In the show, he had the personality of a wallpaper. Yes, I didn't like him at all. He actually made the show rather boring - and before someone jumps at my throat, no, it wasn't because he was black. He was simply bland. No quirks, no distinctive personality, nada. He did finally get interesting - hyped on the Wraith enzyme. And that was when they dropped him. Too bad, after Lost Boys, I would have liked to see him as a recurring character.

I think that Ford was the reason why I just couldn't get into the show at its beginning. I loved Sheppard and McKay but it was the team spirit that drew me to SGA. And with the appearance of one Ronon Dex, it just clicked for me! I have yet to see a character more loyal than Ronon. Not even Teal'c showed as much loyalty as Ronon to Sheppard - oh, I have no doubt that Teal'c was loyal to death, he just didn't show it, not really. With Ronon, you could feel his fierce loyalty. I don't know if it was done on purpose or if it was Jason Momoa's acting, but the way Ronon always followed Sheppard with his eyes, the way he always had his back - and when something happened to Sheppard, Ronon went berserk! - was a-awesome.

You know, reading all the con reports and what Joe Flanigan and Jason Momoa said... On the one hand, I'm very happy to see how awesome friends they are and how much respect they have for each other and for their colleagues. On the other hand, it's kinda sobering to find out that the situation on the set wasn't as peachy as the producers tried to portray it. And how much TPTB actually slighted the actors and Joe in particular, especially Joe Mallozzi (and his thinly weiled attack on the SGA cast yesterday when he accentuated how amazing and honest the cast of SG-1 was on the very day that Joe pointed out the writers' flaws during the con - at least Joe Flanigan said it outright and didn't hide behind innuendo). And after what Joe Flanigan said about SGA, I think that it's pretty certain that there won't be more than one movie, if even that because the SG execs obviously can't see past their personal dislikes. It's really too bad :( But reading all that - maybe it's good that the show ended when it did because even the actors thought that the writers were running the show to the ground through their poor writing. Oh well, there are still books to read :)

And the podfic rec!
SGA --> McShep: the "Jump to the Left AU series by princess bunny, read by onetimeoffer. It's only two short podfics (the text version is unfortunately f-locked): "Snapshots" and "Mr. Fantastic and Einstein's Wife". They are hilarious and touching and cute and... John and Rodney met when they were both eleven and they have been best friends ever since. I love John calling Rodney "Mr. Fantastic" and Rodney calling John "Einstein's Wife"! XD Those two ficlets? Totally made my evening last night!

[livejournal.com profile] alipeeps posted a con report, Joe Flanigan and Jason Momoa's stage talk. Obviously, shortly after SGA was canceled, Joe was offered a part in a new series up there in Vancouver but he turned it down because he didn't want to stay away from his family for years and years again - it kind of makes me sad, I would have really wanted to see him in another show, especially since he predicted that it could have gone on for maybe 7 years... I'm glad that he's in a position where he can actually choose from scripts that were offered to him, but I really hope that he won't be so picky that the well would dry out for him. Though they did mention a project that they could possibly be working on together - and that made me squee with delight, because these two? Amazing chemistry doesn't even begin to cover it!

Overall? I love them together. Their awesomeness rivals that of Jared and Jensen, they are great friends! The part where Jason said that Joe was like an older brother to him, that he knew that he could go for an advice to Joe any time he needed... \o/

Did you see? Did you see, the promo for SPN 4x15 (the ep that will come back March 12th)? *dolphin noises of the utterly embarrassing kind* I can't wait! I so, so can't wait! Eeeeeeeeep! \o/

And then [livejournal.com profile] nakedwesley's con report about Joe Flanigan and Jason Momoa. Hear me squee again! Joe Flanigan, how are you so awesome?
