So, last Saturday, I went to see both, Captain America: Civil War and X-Men: Apocalypse, and boy, was the slash strong in them! Stucky and Cherik rule, hands down! So much fanfic fodder!

Though I feel actually compelled to read - and write! - fanfics only for Cherik, go figure. I don't know why. I just felt that Charles, Erik and Raven went a wonderful full circle in this trilogy. And I loved that Erik always, ALWAY came through for Charles in the end, unlike in the first trilogy where Erik - because of Fox's meddling! - didn't give much of a fuck about Charles and always betrayed him in the end. Fassbender's Erik always went against Charles' wishes, AT FIRST, but when push came to shove and Erik had to choose between world domination/revenge and Charles' life, he always chose Charles. Always! Also, I really loved Charles, the Damsel in Distress, in XMA, LOL!

I admit I'm getting slightly fed up with all the superhero franchises these days. It might be becoming a bit too much for me. But this really got my attention, it was so, so cool! Though knowing how the Civil War arc ends in the comic books...

Yesterday, I watched Captain America: The First Avenger, today it was Captain America: The Winter Soldier. And as much as I liked the first movie, the second one is so much better! But mostly because of the groundwork laid by the first one, so... \o/

Just, Steve and Bucky! Bucky and Steve! These two make me want to do a little dance of happiness. As far as Marvel's movies go, Stucky - Steve/Bucky - is one of my OTPs (the others are Clint/Natasha and Tony/Pepper, Thor I ship with Jane, Sif AND Loki so... and I have no ships at all for GotG). They just push my buttons on so many levels. The way Bucky used to be protective of Steve, then Steve became protective of Bucky, then they unknowingly tried to kill each other, before saving each other's life again... PRECIOUS!

Another thing I love about this movie? The music! It's by Henry Jackman who did the OST for XMFC. Stunning! Winter Soldier is a track that definitely gets your heart pumping.

Gosh, gosh, gosh, CA:TWS makes me so very happy *hearts in eyes* Wonderful, simply wonderful!

Saw Captain America: The Winter Soldier today and LOVED IT TO PIECES! 10/10! Best Marvel movie yet, even better than The Avengers and definitely the best movie of their Phase 2! GOSH!

Steve! Sam! Natasha! Fury! Bucky! So many feelings! And the action! My favorite action sequences were those involving Winter Soldier, like spoilers! )

And, please, tell me I'm not the only one shipping Steve and Bucky really hard after this movie? Like, seriously hard! I mean spoilers! ) And it was glorious!

Definitely worth seeing in the cinema. I saw it in 3D and loved it!

○ CBS renewed 18 shows for 2014-2015: link. Among them NCIS, NCIS:LA, Criminal Minds, CSI, Elementary, Hawaii 5-0 and Person of Interest. The Big Bang Theory was picked up for 3 seasons! No news about The Mentalist, though, even though it's been beating The Good Wife in the ratings every Sunday. Grr!

○ Apparently, Captain America 3 will go head to head with Batman/Superman on May 6, 2016: link. Sheesh, that will be a massacre!

○ Syfy is planning a limited, six hour long space opera series called Ascension, "a thriller about a murder aboard a 100-year voyage from Earth": link.

OMG, this looks so COOL! I can't wait! Maaaaaaaaan! *rolls in the pretty* Chris Evans is simply perfect as Steve Rogers. You know, looking back, the first Cpt. America movie is my favorite of the origin movies. I adore Steve and the movie is structured perfectly, even though the villain is kinda laughable (I mean, Heil Hydra?).
katikat: (CBM_CptAmerica)

Sebastian Stance as Bucky/Winter Soldier on the set of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. More pictures here: link. MAN, HE LOOKS GOOD! Iron Man 3 disappointed me a bit so I hope that Thor: The Dark Worlds and Captain America: The Winter Soldier make up for that!

Ed Brubaker, who wrote the "Winter Soldier" comic book on which Captain America: Winter Soldier is based, had only good things to say about the movie's script:

“... I got to go out to Marvel Studios a couple months ago and read one of the later drafts of the script. I went out to dinner with [directors Joe and Anthony Russo] and talked about the project and gave them feedback on what I liked or didn’t like or what parts didn’t work. I mean, the script I read was fucking fantastic. It was the best Marvel movie.”

He followed up that rather bold claim by discussing his reaction to the script in greater detail. “It was really strange because [the script] feels like my comic while not really telling the same story as my comic. It’s got moments here and there where I was like, ‘hey, I wrote that.’ But mostly, it’s not what people think it’s going to be. But the tone of it was so close to what [artist] Steve [Epting] and I were doing on that comic in the first few years, where it feels like an espionage story almost more than a superhero story [and] there’s tons of action in it. I can’t wait to see what they do with it.”

Awesome!!! Can't wait for the next "phase" to begin!

They finally cast Captain America: The Winter Soldier's female lead, Sharon Carter (Peggy Carter's niece, possibly grand-niece in this one) - and it's ABC's Revenge's Emily VanCamp. Source.

Sweet! I haven't seen her in anything yet but she's really beautiful and with being the lead in a successful TV series, I think she will be great as Sharon. Now just to hope that her chemistry with Chris Evans will be as good as what he had with Hayley Atwell *crosses fingers*

You know, watching all the Marvel movies in one row, seeing how it all comes together, the tiny pieces and the big things, everything that leads to The Avengers... It's pretty amazing, let me tell you. The whole Marvel universe seems so rich and broad and full of amazing things and wonderful characters...

I still remember seeing the first teaser trailer to The Avengers at the end of the movie, my heart was so aflutter with joy I could barely stand it. And even now, when I see it, when I hear the thumping beat, it makes me want to clap my hands with glee! And when I watch the extras, like The Assembly Begins on the Captain America DVD or The Road to the Avengers on the Thor DVD, it feels... it feels like bearing witness to something marvelous, something epic that the world has never seen before - and the $1.5 billions at the box office would suggest it's true.

My favorite Avenger is Thor, I freely admit that - but Steve Rogers is definitely the most likable of them. Tony and Thor, they pretty much started their journey as arrogant jerks but Steve was the sweetest and bravest guy under the sun from the get-go, even skinny and frail. And he never stopped being sweet and brave, that was the best thing about him, he didn't become drunk on power.

I watched the movie with the audio commentary and it was so funny to hear the director and the others fanboy about Chris Evans. It was adorable. They talked about how they made him skinny and how many green screen shots they needed and how fast Chris could actually run and that he ended up doing most of his stunts because he made them look more real and more effortless than the stuntmen.

And out of all the female heroines in the Marvel movies, I like Peggy best. She and Steve were simply perfect and the last scene they had together, where they talked over the radio, it never fails to make me cry. It's the most bittersweet, sad thing in the whole Marvel movie universe ;_;

Out of all the upcoming Marvel Phase 2 movies, I look forward to Captain America: The Winter Soldier most because I can't wait to actually see the Winter Soldier himself and learn more about his past with Natasha and see Steve's reaction... \o/

Regarding Captain America: The Winter Soldier ScreenRant.com posted: link:

We heard from The Playlist before Comic-Con that both Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) would be a crucial part of Captain America 2, where more of their backstory and relationship would be explored.

*bounces* HOW AWESOME IS THAT?! I mean, I know that in the comic books, it's Tasha/Bucky but I would very much prefer if they didn't do that in the movies, if they gave Tasha a past ship with Winter Soldier but left it at that. It feels like movie!Tasha is very different from comic-book!Tasha anyway and she and Clint... *_* I'm not usually much of a het shipper but THESE TWO give me FEELINGS! And I want CA:TWS to be about Steve and Bucky's friendship, not about Bucky and Tasha's romance...

Falcon?

According to various sources - like this one - Anthony Mackie...

... is in negotiations to play Sam Wilson AKA Falcon in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I think it's awesome! Though I hope they won't make his costume quite as... bright, you know, red and white. I read somewhere that in the Ultimates, his costume is black. Now THAT would be awesome, all sleek and sexy ;)

Also, a funny thing: Anthony Mackie (Falcon) was with Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) in The Hurt Locker. And now they will be both Marvel superheroes :)

Awesome!

According to Variety - via CBM - Sebastian Stan will be back as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier in Captain America: The Winter Soldier! Apparently he signed a 6 movie deal!

How awesome is that? I mean, we could be pretty sure that he would be back, there was no reason for the actor NOT to be back but after Marvel recast the part of Rhodey/War Machine in Iron Man 2 - and BTW, I liked Don Cheadle in that part much better than Terence Howard! - we couldn't be ABSOLUTELY certain so it's great to have it confirmed, right? :)

So, it's official, Marvel's upcoming new project, scheduled for 2014, is the adaptation of Guardians of the Galaxy: link.

Concept art for the movie!

I don't know anything about this comic book or its heroes but the more awesome space based movies we get the better!

And the titles of their comic book sequels were revealed too: link.

Iron Man 3 - LOL, that's easy to remember, right?
Thor: The Dark World - yummy! I wonder what worlds Thor and his pals will visit!
Captain America: The Winter Soldier - *high-pitched dolphin noises*

I love Thor's character best but I'm looking forward to Cpt. America's movie most now that its title was revealed! *bounces like a bunny on crack* They're giving us The Winter Soldier! For real! EEEEEEEEEEEE! It's all I ever wanted from the sequel. I hope Sebastian Stan will be back, that they don't recast his part because that would miff me like few other things! So... THE WINTER SOLDIER!
katikat: (CBM_CptAmerica)
I don't usually like movies/shows about politics but I think I'll give Political Animals a try...

For one, it stars Sigourney Weaver. AND Sebastian Stan as her gay son! How awesome is that? *rolls in the pretty*

Oh, speaking about Sebastian Stan, I really hope that his Bucky will be back in Captain America 2, I just adore the idea of Winter Soldier and Chris Evans' sweet, earnest Steve meeting him! I need this!

PS: Gosh, I just realized that Sebastian Stan played Chase in The Covenant! *head/desk* I KNEW I saw him somewhere before.
katikat: (CBM_CptAmerica)
And today, we watched Captain America! You know, the second time around I liked it much better. I could focus on the sweet parts and avoid all the embarrassing moments.

One of my favorite scenes is...

... This one!

When Steve steps out of the capsule all beefed up and Peggy has to fight the urge to touch him. That's so funny and sweet at the same time. Another sweet moment is the one in the cinema, when she and the general see Steve and his unit on-screen and they notice that Steve has her picture in his compass. Aww...

Chris Evans is fantastic in this part. You actually believe that he's so incredibly kind and shy and gentle and brave and strong and profoundly good. I think they couldn't have chosen better. And he and Hayley Atwell playing Peggy had amazing chemistry!

I'm loving all the wonderful The Avengers BTS pics that are emerging.

Like this one!

It makes me so happy to see how these two in particular enjoy their parts. Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans are having so much fun in the BTS vids, giggling and goofing around, always a smile on their faces. I'm tempted to slash Thor and Steve and I haven't even seen the movie yet! /o\

But, sheesh, is Chris Hemsworth tall and butch! O.o I mean, I knew that he was tall and butch, but not SO tall and SO butch! Chris Evans for all his height and added bulk looks almost small next to him!
katikat: (thing-hotchocolate)
I'm now the proud owner of Scarecrow and Mrs King S2 on DVD. Woohoo! Love the show.

Although Captain America did better in the US than X-Men First Class - $165 mil. to $145 mil. - worldwide it did worse. Overall, CA earned $316 mil. so far whereas XMFC $351 mil. If there is a CA sequel but not a XMFC one, I'll be pissed. Oh, don't get me wrong, I want both movies to have part 2, but I can see Marvel pushing CA more than XMFC, what with The Avengers etc.

Saw the trailer for Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy: link. The funny thing is, the music is from XMFC, the score is identical. But it'll be great to see Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hardy in a movie together again, they acted alongside in Stuart: A Life Backwards already.

Jason Momoa's Conan the Barbarian is a huge flop. Yeesh! It cost $90 mil. to make and over the first weekend it earned only $10 mil. *cringes* Lionsgate will be lucky if the film doesn't end in red numbers.
