I think I will check out SyFy's upcoming series Warehouse 13 - this dramedy sounds like a "more serious" version of The Middleman but what draws me to it are the guest stars that signed to appear in its 13 episodes: Joe Flanigan, Tricia Helfer, Joe Morton... All "SyFy's actors", so I bet that the roles were offered to them, they didn't audition. Might be cool :)

And did I mention Joe Flanigan? \o/

SGA related post!

Last night, I read a wonderful SGA gen fic:
GEN --> "Ghost in the Machine" by Sholio. Sheppard and McKay are trapped on a world with a malfunctioning Stargate, a monster... and a mystery. Words: 40.000+

And thanks to [livejournal.com profile] yami_tai, I will get my hands on Sonny Whitelaw's "Exogenesis", an SGA tie-in novel, one of the two that I was missing. So now, I just need to find a way to get James Swallow's "Halcyon" and I'll have all the SGA books that have been published so far \o/

The extras for SGA's S5 DVDs have been revealed: see under the cut... )

But no audio commentaries for Ghost In the Machine, The Shrine, Infection and Identity. No commentary for The Shrine? Really? That pisses me off! It's like with Midway last season, no commentary for one of the best eps of the whole series X( Well, at least we will get one for The Prodigal which must be one of my favorite episodes - maybe even my most favorite one - of the whole series. And with Andy Mikita too! I hope that he will dish out some stuff about Joe Flanigan again XD

DVD Episodes and Special Features, complete version under the cut )

And an interview with Joe Flanigan. I love these parts best... )

Oh, and the title of the SGA movie was revealed: Stargate: Extinction! Sounds awesome. I just hope that it'll be a team-driven movie, not yet another relation of their dating habits!

It's so good to talk about SGA again! *bounces*

You know, reading all the con reports and what Joe Flanigan and Jason Momoa said... On the one hand, I'm very happy to see how awesome friends they are and how much respect they have for each other and for their colleagues. On the other hand, it's kinda sobering to find out that the situation on the set wasn't as peachy as the producers tried to portray it. And how much TPTB actually slighted the actors and Joe in particular, especially Joe Mallozzi (and his thinly weiled attack on the SGA cast yesterday when he accentuated how amazing and honest the cast of SG-1 was on the very day that Joe pointed out the writers' flaws during the con - at least Joe Flanigan said it outright and didn't hide behind innuendo). And after what Joe Flanigan said about SGA, I think that it's pretty certain that there won't be more than one movie, if even that because the SG execs obviously can't see past their personal dislikes. It's really too bad :( But reading all that - maybe it's good that the show ended when it did because even the actors thought that the writers were running the show to the ground through their poor writing. Oh well, there are still books to read :)

And the podfic rec!
SGA --> McShep: the "Jump to the Left AU series by princess bunny, read by onetimeoffer. It's only two short podfics (the text version is unfortunately f-locked): "Snapshots" and "Mr. Fantastic and Einstein's Wife". They are hilarious and touching and cute and... John and Rodney met when they were both eleven and they have been best friends ever since. I love John calling Rodney "Mr. Fantastic" and Rodney calling John "Einstein's Wife"! XD Those two ficlets? Totally made my evening last night!

[livejournal.com profile] alipeeps posted a con report, Joe Flanigan and Jason Momoa's stage talk. Obviously, shortly after SGA was canceled, Joe was offered a part in a new series up there in Vancouver but he turned it down because he didn't want to stay away from his family for years and years again - it kind of makes me sad, I would have really wanted to see him in another show, especially since he predicted that it could have gone on for maybe 7 years... I'm glad that he's in a position where he can actually choose from scripts that were offered to him, but I really hope that he won't be so picky that the well would dry out for him. Though they did mention a project that they could possibly be working on together - and that made me squee with delight, because these two? Amazing chemistry doesn't even begin to cover it!

Overall? I love them together. Their awesomeness rivals that of Jared and Jensen, they are great friends! The part where Jason said that Joe was like an older brother to him, that he knew that he could go for an advice to Joe any time he needed... \o/

Did you see? Did you see, the promo for SPN 4x15 (the ep that will come back March 12th)? *dolphin noises of the utterly embarrassing kind* I can't wait! I so, so can't wait! Eeeeeeeeep! \o/

And then [livejournal.com profile] nakedwesley's con report about Joe Flanigan and Jason Momoa. Hear me squee again! Joe Flanigan, how are you so awesome?
katikat: (Default)
* I know I said that I wouldn't watch House anymore but I might give at least one ep a go yet - Ausiello's spoilers for the upcoming episode... ) \o/

* Czech Prima airs Joe Flanigan's Thoughtcrimes this weekend! Joe Flanigan! On my TV! *dolphin noises*

* And You Higuri's "Gorgeous Carat L'Esperanza" vol. 1 comes out this June in Germany! Eeeeeeeee! It's "Gorgeous Carat"! My most favorite, Nr. 1 manga for ever! Rey and Florian for EVER! *more barely audible dolphin noises*

Tidbits!

BuddyTV posted their TV's 50 Sexiest Men, Part 2, and look who's there: Misha Collins (#37), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (#25), Joe Flanigan (#21), Jason Momoa (#17), Christian Kane (#14), Michael Weatherly (#13), John Barrowman (#12), Simon Baker (#8), Zachary Levi (#6)...

And the rest of my lovely sexy men is in TV's 50 Sexiest Men of 2008. Jensen is 7th and Jared 1st! \o/

Oh, and I love the new NCIS spoiler that Ausiello posted: Spoiler... ) Ha! \o/

And did you see the tidbit about Psych there too?
Ausiello: This isn't scoop so much as it is a random tidbit from Super Bowl weekend: At NBC Universal's tailgate party, James Roday, Dule Hill, and Chris Meloni took on Burn Notice's Jeffrey Donovan, The O.C.'s Ben Mackenzie, and an unidentified executive's son in an impromptu game of pick-up touch football. Team Roday-Hill-Meloni prevailed by a score of 21-7. And because I know you'll ask, both teams kept their shirts on the entire game. "At one point shirts and skins were suggested," whispers my gridiron mole, "but it was too chilly."
They are just too silly for words \o/

Many things happened this year, on the fannish front I mean. Some were good, some were awesome, some were very, very bad. But some things are constant and great, no matter what...

Actors?
* Joe Flanigan is still gorgeous and hot and incredibly cute and I hope that he'll get to play something awesome and action-filled again soon. I will follow him where ever he goes :)
* Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are still gorgeous and hot and incredibly cute and I hope that they will stay the bestest friends ever! ;)

New discoveries this year?
* The Mentalist, one of the best shows currently on air!
* Leverage, which is rocking my socks!
* Sports Night, which I can't believe that I haven't discovered until lately! Shame on me ;P

Old loves?
* Supernatural - the show is finally back on track after the mess that was season 3!
* Stargate Atlantis - they took my show away from me (I still can't forgive that X/) and even though I was rather disappointed by the direction the series took in the 2nd half of the season, John Sheppard is still made of the awesomest awesome!
* NCIS - Rocking! My! Socks!

And for next year?
* I hope that the new SGA movie will be a success and that they will keep making more films - I might not like the McKeller pairing or Keller in general, but as long as I get John Sheppard to swoon over, I will keep coming back.
* I hope that we will keep SPN for one more year. They can't take away SGA and SPN away from me!
* I hope that NCIS and The Mentalist will keep going as strong as this year!
* I hope that the actors won't strike...

Ausiello introduced the characters of the possible NCIS spin-off. And I like them!

Said list of characters... )

Finally a series with a mature cast! Yes, adults can be interesting too! It would be too much to hope for Joe Flanigan to play Callen or Dominic, right? *wibbles*
katikat: (Default)
I did something really blasphemous today. TV.com posted their "Best of 2008" polls and in the Genre category, there is the Sci-Fi sub-category there... And it lists two of my current favorites: Supernatural and Stargate Atlantis. Thus, I had to make a decision for what show to vote... And I chose SGA *ducks flying dishes* I mean, come on, they posted a pic of John Sheppard aka Joe Flanigan in the poll! In black. With a gun. I just could not resist. Not that Jared and Jensen aren't hot as hell, but... Joe. Flanigan! *swoons*

ETA: Well, at least I voted for SPN's In the Beginning in the Best Episode category :) Though if they listed SGA's Prodigal...

I just ordered The Sentinel S1 on DVD. I suddenly felt a strong urge to see the show again. I mean, Jim and Blair and Simon! \o/ Too bad that the other seasons aren't out on DVD yet :( Would you believe that I saw that show in three different languages and none of them was English?

Also, I added Early Edition S1 to my Amazon wish list. How I loved this show! *sigh* Would you believe that I have no idea how it ended, though? The same goes for The Pretender. My interest just waned. But that's what DVDs are for, right? :)

And actors. I love Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles. I love to read about them, about their con attendances, about their banter and bickering off-screen, about the pranks. But I don't feel any urge to see them in something else besides SPN.

With Joe Flanigan, it's just the opposite. It's enough for me to know that he's happy with his wife and his three sons, I don't need details or interviews etc. But I already bought two movies that he was in just because he was in them. And that's why I will keep buying SGA in any sort and form, as long as he's in it. And I will look for more movies/series with him in the future. I hope that he'll get to play detective again. I love him as a cop! :)

Oh, and I re-watched SGA's Ghost in the Machine. I do understand why some people might not like the main storyline of this ep, but I adore, love the the beginning. Flying monkeys! Jumper mishap! John immediately knowing that the flickering lights were Rodney's fault. His "Rodney!" when the bolt almost hit him! It's so cool that when I feel down, I watch the first ten minutes over and over again! \o/
katikat: (Default)
* Yesterday was the last day of filming for most of the actors of Stargate Atlantis. Only Joe Flanigan has some exterior scenes still planned for next week. And then, that will be it. No more SGA.

* Supernatural was pre-empted in Chicago. Again. For baseball this time. So, shucks for the ratings of course. Just great *sigh*

This morning, I found two parcels in my mail box: Thoughtcrimes and my birthday gift from [livejournal.com profile] yami_tai! And what is it? A Stargate Atlantis 2009 wall calendar! Eeeeeeeeeee! Hear me making high pitched dolphin noises. I'm in a Joe Flanigan related overload! *rolls in the pretty*
katikat: (Default)
I can't remember the last time that Amazon's "You order has dispatched" email made me this giddy/happy/bouncy/dolphin-y! Amazon.co.uk sent me Thoughtcrimes! I feared that I missed my chance but then it went back to "In Stock" and now they sent it to me and soon, I will own the movie where Joe Flanigan makes cute scrunchy confused faces, where he has a photographic memory, where he sings the Scooby Doo song in his head and where he gets his butt saved by Navi Rawat's awesome mind powers every five minutes! Eeeeeeeeee! \o/

Also, what the heck, eMule? One of my downloads stopped 701 kb short of 791 mb! 0.1% short of finishing! And I got bumped back to the end of the line that's frickin' long! Argh! *head/desk*
katikat: (Default)
* According to Ben Browder's IMDB page, he was the producers' original choice for John Sheppard! O.O He couldn't make it though because he was filming Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars at that time. Wow, can you imagine SGA with Browder as Sheppard? It would have been definitely... different. But I think that it worked out perfectly. I love him as Mitchell and Joe Flanigan as Sheppard. And I'm still miffed that those two had only one scene together because they are sizzling hot when on-screen together! And did you know that Ben Browder is five years older than Joe Flanigan? He so doesn't look it! *swoons* Now I'm even more impatient to get my hands on The Ark of Truth *bounces*

* According to TVShowsOnDVD, ADV Films lost their license for Mutant X (and BeastMaster, Andromeda, Farscape and the last three seasons of Earth: The Final Conflict) and that means that the announced "the complete collection" box set was canceled. Shucks! I was planing to buy it. I love Mutant X but I refuse to pay for it when one season is cut into two or three packages. Shucks, again! X(

* On the podfic front, I've been listening to [livejournal.com profile] the_oscar_cat's The Nantucket Podfic Project. She's been recording the whole SGA's "Nantucket AU" bit by bit. The series is written by various author and it just makes me fuzzy and warm in my heart's vicinity. She maybe reads it with too much pathos but it kinda fits the series because it mostly consists of short ficlets with lotsa description and few dialogs. Go and try it out!
katikat: (Default)
* Yesterday at the movies, I saw the trailer for Star Wars: Clone Wars, and boy, was that butt ugly! I'm a big fan of the SW franchise but when you compare that animation to Final Fantasy Versus XIII, all I can say is yuck!

* Promo for next week's SGA! Yay, Teyla looks really good!

* I ordered Thoughtcrimes, the pilot to a series that didn't take and that featured Navi Rawat (Numb3rs) and Joe Flanigan (Stargate Atlantis). Joe F. is simply gorgeous in that one, so cute that you just want to hug him! I wanted to wait a bit with my next order but just last week, they had the movie still "in stock", now it is "dispatched within 6 to 9 days" so I really hope that they still have it! I would be bummed if it was sold out and I missed my chance :(

SGA ep 5x07, my spoilery thoughts... )

One good soul posted the actors' reaction to the cancellation of SGA on YouTube and I have to say, I cried my eyes out. Amanda Tapping's comment confirms that obviously no one understands TPTB's decision - the show is good, the ratings are good and they canceled the series anyway. But what made me literally cry was Joe Flanigan. He always bails out on these things but this time, he stayed and said his piece. Usually, he's really bouncy and exuberant but in this vid, he was rather subdued and really sad. When he talked about how he loved to play Sheppard, when he thanked SGA's fans for their loyalty... I just wanted to give him a hug.

Psych ep 3x07, my spoilery thoughts... )

I finished reading Sally Malcolm's novelization of SGA's pilot Rising - "Stargate Atlantis: Rising" - and let me tell you, it's A-awesome! Sally Malcolm really understands the characters, and their inner monologues and thoughts are quite revealing and hilarious at the same time too. She nailed Jack O'Neill and John Sheppard perfectly. Their wry humor, the laid back attitude... Her McKay is convinced that the universe is out to get him, that for some reason, fate hates him personally. Teyla is a wise, thoughtful leader. And even Weir and Ford are likable! My favorite part of the book/episode is the beginning that takes place in Antarctica, when we get to see the characters for the first time and the threat of the Wraith is still far, far away. If I didn't find it silly, I would talk about the book in capslocks, I love it so much. This one will be definitely filed under "favorites" in my GR account!

And there is a really funny interview with Joe Flanigan on IGN's site (spoilery, beware!). The funny bits?

* "The one thing that strikes you as odd when you meet the actor who plays Sheppard is that either he's the perfect actor, or he's perfectly cast, because he seems to have the easy, heroic charm of a man who's looked death in the face, made a sarcastic and rather wry quip, and then gone on to save the world and himself anyway. It's quite an unnerving quality, but it's something that doesn't take long to get used to, and before long you're yapping away like chums discussing a hard day at the office – or in his case, a hard day fighting off The Wraith, Replicators and all manner of intergalactic foe that threaten Atlantis on a daily basis."
* "I'm a bit simple when it comes to watching TV, if someone's there trying to talk about something, I'm more than likely going to change the channel, but if you're watching someone getting the crap beat out of them, fighting for their life... oh well! Look at that! Turn that up! (...) I don't watch a lot of TV – I do like to buy DVDs of TV and watch that. It's the best way to watch TV. You can see it all the way through, no commercials. I like Entourage, I really like Deadwood – I would love to do a western. I don't watch Reality TV – it frightens me to the depths of my soul."

I think I would like Joe Flanigan a lot :)
katikat: (Default)
Andy Mikita had his Q&A session on Joe M.'s blog last night and this part literally broke my heart - Andy was asked what were his most traumatic memories, looking back at his time on Atlantis: "I think the day Joe (Flanigan) lost his dad was the hardest. I felt terrible and he insisted in carrying on. Every time I watch Search & Rescue and see him trapped under the rubble it reminds me of that day. That’s what we were shooting when he got the news."

Ouch. At Comic Con, Joe said that something very bad happened to him on a personal level while they were filming S5 but that's just heartbreaking :( And he still wanted to carry on. Wow.

And take a look at the poll archive on MGM's home page:

Are you enjoying this season of Stargate Atlantis?
Yes! - 97% - 1991
No. - 2% - 48
Undecided. - 1% - 20

Are you excited about Stargate Universe?
YES! - 13% - 1543
No. - 85% - 10004
What's Stargate Universe? - 2% - 210

Wow. 85%, huh? That kind of surprised me. I think that the cancellation of SGA pissed people off more than TPTB expected. Not that I think that the poll carries any weight for TPTB but it's still surprising.

--> On IMDB, there's a whole thread dedicated to Joe Flanigan's pointy ears. 'nough said XP

--> My manga are here! *petspets*

--> The 2nd X Files movie has earned only 20+ mil. dollars so far? Ouch, that's a flop *cringes*

--> Other movies I want to see in the near future: Hellboy II: The Golden Army (awesome special effects!) and Journey to the Center of the Earth (Brendan Fraser's 2nd movie this year).

--> I finally got my hands on Danielle Steele's "Family Album"! Sheesh!
