Last night, I finished watching The Middleman. The show didn't have good ratings so I suspect that the existing 12 eps are all that we will get. Well, it's a good and funny show, one that makes you feel all giddy and smiley when you watch it but it's not really riveting. I will buy the series on DVD for sure, especially if there are any bonus features, but I won't cry if they cancel it...
I mostly watched it for the amazing things Wendy and the Middleman, or better said, the actors could let out of their mouths without cracking up. Like:
Wendy: Who leaves a palindrome?
The Middleman: Typical supervillain horse feathers. Can't wait to hear this guy's monologue. "I am the Palindrome. Feel my power. Power my feel. Palindrome the am I". Peter piping weirdos.
or
The Middleman: Son of a monkey's uncle, Wendy Watson, which part of "this is an emergency" didn't you get?
or
The Middleman: Dubbie, I can't help but notice you seem to have rent appendages on your brain.
Ida: That's the hippie lettuce talking.
or
The Middleman: If you want to help Mr. Noser right now, you'll dedicate yourself mind, body, and soul to preventing undead creatures of the night from rising from the grave to suck him dry.
Wendy: You don't talk to other humans much, do you?
Matt Keeslar, the actor playing the Middleman, simply rocked my socks in this one. He so reminded me of Fraser from due South! Hot guy, hot body, spouting nonsense like a walking, talking encyclopedia of weirdness! And Natalie Morales' ability to deliver a pun is unbeatable! I even started liking Brit Morgan playing Lacey once her character became a part of the show's mythology!
So yeah, a great show, nothing that would just chain you to your computer/TV or make you go and dig for fanfic, but if you want to put a smile on your face, then this is the perfect thing!
