Call of the Wild I+II: It was bittersweet to watch this episode, knowing it's the series finale. The characters are all so endearing you just want to spend more time with them. It was a funny episode because the show - as usually - didn't bother to adhere to the laws of physics or even common sanity, still it was strangely sad.

I loved that the actors were allowed to choose how their characters should end. Most endings were really funny, like Francesca's or Thatcher's, but I loved Fraser and RayK's best, of course.

The most touching things about those two episodes? Well... RayV's delight in seeing Benny again. Fraser's homesickness. RayK's distress, his realization that without Fraser, he's not himself anymore, that Fraser completes him. Fraser's discovery that Muldoon killed his mother and his father never told him...

Of course, then there was the funny stuff. Buck Frobisher's farting. Fraser's school buddy. The sledge ride downhill. And Turnbull in general.

I wonder though, what the ending really meant. I mean, from various articles and interviews we know that Fraser and Kowalski got together, as in a slashy way, that was how Paul Gross and Callum Keith Rennie wanted their characters to end. But where did they end up together? I mean, it looked like Fraser stayed up north. Did Ray quit his job, now that Vecchio was back? Ray didn't have anything to go back to, after all... Did they stay together in Canada?

It always feels so... weird when a show ends. One feels strangely... hollow, as if one lost a friend. I felt that same way about many shows, most noticeably SGA and The Sentinel. It's really weird.

Hunting Season: This episode makes me SO HAPPY on SO MANY LEVELS!

Jessica Steen is my most favorite Canadian actress and the fact that she played a mountie and her character turned out to be Fraser's sister just... EEEEEEEEE! \o/ That's just so incredibly cool! I loved how Maggie clicked with Fraser from the get-go. And the way they met, when she entered the consulate and he was hanging from the chandelier, exchanging a burned out light-bulb!

I love this episode so incredibly much, it's definitely one of the best eps of the whole series, hands down!

The funniest part? Turnbull saying something about Fraser not wanting to be disturbed. And Thatcher's reaction? "Constable Fraser was BORN disturbed, Turnbull!"

I really need to find some fics featuring Maggie...

Good For the Soul: Fraser really is one persistent SOB, isn't he? But I felt sorry for him, that nobody wanted to help him. And all he wanted was for the mob boss to apologize. But when Fraser was beaten, I thought it was rather tasteless of Ray to start hitting on his ex. I mean, Fraser was sitting right there, barely able to move, and Ray was panting after her like a dog in heat.

That's the only thing I don't like about the Fraser/RayK dynamic, Ray's obsession with his ex who clearly doesn't want to have anything to do with him anymore. IMHO, it makes Ray look like a pathetic loser.

But I loved the ending, when Fraser finally got his apology and he just said "Thank you kindly," turned around and walked away. The mob boss couldn't believe it.

Dead Men Don't Throw Rice: The fake!Fraser was pretty funny, even though his German - should it have been German? - was atrocious. And I loved how Fraser totally didn't get that Francesca was in love with him.

The funeral scene was so funny, how everybody fainted when Fraser sat up in the casket! But it was so touching, how honestly sad everybody was. Also, I loved that Ray watched Fraser like a hawk, especially in the morgue when they were first trying out the dying thing. How he yelled at Fraser that he was freaking Ray out, playing dead and all.

Say Amen: Pretty boring episode. But I loved Camilla Scott's singing. That was beautiful. And that Fraser, Ray, Turnbull and Thatcher went to the movies together! LOL!
katikat: (ds-together)
The Ladies Man: That was quite a sad episode. When Ray broke down at the end and actually started crying... I felt so sorry for him. I mean, it wasn't his fault that the piece of evidence, the guy's suicide note, was stolen from the evidence locker. And it wasn't even his case, he was just the arresting officer. The poor guy. But at least he saved the woman in the end.

Mojo Rising: This was one of the few instances where I actually liked an episode about voodoo and vodan, I liked the way it was depicted, Fraser's respect for the religion. I had to LOL during these, though:

Ray: This is not driving, this walking in a vehicle.

Fraser: You asked me to be careful.
Ray: Careful, not stationary!

Welsh: It will turn up. You know, bodies have a habit of doing that.

Welsh: Watch the body? What do you think, that it'll turn into a zombie or something?
Fraser: Possibly.

Ray: You sure you're okay?
Fraser: Yeah, I'm fine.
Ray: The reason I ask is, you're on fire.

Mountie Sings the Blues: Ah, that's where Ramona Milano AKA Francesca's pregnancy started to show. I loved the way they hid it behind totally nonsensical stuff, like, why was she wheeling a TV set through the station? LOL!

The funniest part?

Welsh: What the hell was that?
Fraser: The sound of a grown man squealing in a manner not becoming of the member of the RCMP.
Welsh: Oh, Turnbull!
Fraser: Yes, sir.

LOL! Poor Turnbull - but Dean McDermott was awesome in that part!
katikat: (ds-together)
Easy Money: This was the first episode where I truly felt that RayK cared about Fraser. Before, it was all fun and banter, but in this episode, I actually felt Ray caring. First when Fraser hurt his hand, then when Fraser and his friend were taken hostage. Loved that. And Turnbull was hilarious as always.

A Likely Story: I actually thought that the woman was in on it. I was as surprised as Ray. I loved that, as much as Ray liked the woman, when he realized that she was probably playing him, he actually did his job and didn't go with his head against the wall.

Loved this exchange:

Ray: I don't know who has less sex, me or you, but at least I still think about women. Is that better or worse?
Fraser: Good question.

Odds: Beautiful music! They really used amazing music during both the poker games. And Fraser looked SHARP in that tuxedo, wow! *_* I loved how worried Ray was about Fraser falling for the wrong girl, first at the embassy, then in the bathroom at the police station. I LOL'd during this conversation:

Ray: Would you be so diplomatic if she wasn't such a beautiful woman?
Fraser: Certainly.
Ray: Awful thing is, I believe you.

I loved that Fraser let the woman think she was playing him when it was he who played her. And then Ray saved him, jumping through the skylight. And THEN they were playing poker at the station, loved that part. I loved many things about this episode, especially the fact that Fraser didn't let the woman turn his head, that - as much as he enjoyed her company - he remained indifferent to her charms. That was perfect! And so different from Ray's usual reactions to gorgeous women.

Awesome episode, one of the best!

Oh, and I loved this part:

Ray: So... you were bluffing.
Fraser: Evading.
Ray: Bluffing.
Fraser: Delaying.
Ray: Bluffing.
Fraser: Equivocating.
Ray: Bluffing.
Fraser: Bluffing.
Ray: Thank you.
katikat: (ds-together)
Mountie on the Bounty I+II: The famous "Ray hits Fraser" and "Buddy-breathing" episodes. I noticed how differently Ray and Fraser reacted to the problems in their relationship: whereas Ray was mostly irritated and angry, Fraser was sad and resigned. The episode was nuts, seriously nuts, what with the ship and the female RCMP officer deflecting bullets with a sword, ha! But I will have the "Thirty-two down on the Robert MacKenzie" song stuck in my head for the foreseeable future, seriously. That's such a catchy tune. Also, Paul Gross has a beautiful voice!

Dr. Longball: Another crazy episode. But I didn't care much for this one. The madness went a step too far. But it was nice to learn more about Welsh, about his background.
katikat: (ds-together)
Perfect Strangers: I just loved how weirded out Ray was by the Canadians. And by Canada in general. "It's so... clean here. Too clean!"

Asylum: Great, fantastic episode! I loved how desperate Ray was to get to Fraser, as if just by getting to him, everything would turn out okay. I loved the way he barged into the embassy, falling down to his knees and yelling, "FRASER!" And how Fraser kept everybody off Ray's back. And how he had absolute faith in Ray, he knew that Ray didn't kill the guy because Ray was his partner and his friend and thus he wouldn't do it. I loved the scene where Fraser asked Ray to trust him...

There were so many funny scenes!

Cahill: Oh, Dewey! Tell Huey I'm sorry about Louis.

Fraser: I'm afraid that Ray's already been arrested.
Huey: By who?
Fraser: By whom.
Dewey: By whom?
Fraser: By me.

Turnbull: Sir? Your presence.
Ray: Your presence? What are you? Like a king?
Fraser: To Turnbull? Yes.

Ray: *hangs his head* I just made a curling reference! I'm gonna go and lie down.
katikat: (ds-together)
Spy vs. Spy: This must be the craziest episode of the whole show! Fraser on the stage with the ballet-dancers, then on the pegasus! Getting rave reviews in the newspapers! The poor guy with the broken radio. OMG! Who came up with such a crazy stuff?! LOL!

Dead Guy Running: The best episode YET! I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes! I loved the black teenager who was helping them with the body! Frannie's story about Ray, aww... Fraser's absolute conviction that RayV didn't kill the guy - not because RayV wasn't capable of murder but because he wasn't capable of such a cruel murder. Frannie's "I can de-bone a whole chicken in under three minutes." Fraser's "Oh dear" was epic! That episode was perfect!
katikat: (ds-together)
Mountie and Soul: An episode about boxing. I hate boxing. Why does every show have to have an ep about boxing? Or horse racing? Or - the worst case scenario - both at some point?

Bounty Hunter: I liked the way Fraser and the female bounty hunter connected. But I hated her kids, what a bunch of ill-behaved, obnoxious brats! Kids like that are the best contraception one could use *shudder* Oh, and I loved seeing Fraser in casual clothes, in jeans and a flannel shirt.

Seeing Is Believing: This was a great episode, the way Welsh, Thatcher and Ray all saw something different when the murder occurred and the only one who could've cleared the whole thing, Fraser, was chasing a purse snatcher! My favorite part? Fraser demonstrating that it was possible to throw a knife across the room and hit a target with enough force to kill. Ray's LOOK when Fraser hit the first knife with the second. Man... And how angry Ray was when Fraser almost got himself stabbed! One of the best episodes so far!
katikat: (ds-together)
Both episodes were strangely sad. Oh, they had their hilarious moments, but overall, they were sad...

I Coulda Been a Defendant: I felt so, so sorry for the guy. He loved his brother so much and the brother only used him and then he even wanted to kill him! I loved the way Fraser talked to the man... But I wonder why Elaine dropped out of the show, hm.

Strange Bedfellows: I know that Ray was head-over-heels for Stella but that was quite pathetic, honestly, and more than borderline stalker-ish. I'm glad that he gets over her later on, in the end, but man! And I loved the psych evaluation that Fraser had to undergo, Thatcher's LOOK when she found him in the closet. LOL!
katikat: (ds-together)
Burning Down the House: A hilarious episode! I loved that Fraser "neglected to mention" that his apartment house burned down. Oh, Turnbull, never change - when Ray asked "Is he for real?", I LOL'd! Yes, Ray, there's someone weirder than Fraser :)) It was so funny how set Fraser was on proving that Ray wasn't Ray! And RayV's phone call, he so didn't want to leave Fraser...

Eclipse: The best part? Ray asking Fraser if he found him attractive, you know, as a woman. LOL! And then Fraser admitted that, yes, he did pretend to be a woman in the past. Ray's LOOK! Or the thing with the glasses, "I didn't know you were blind!" These two... \o/ One thing, though - someone did steal the 9 kilo of heroin...

It's unbelievable but I'm not all caught up on The Middleman! My spoilery thoughts on 1x05 )

And I also managed to watch Riptide, eps 2x08 and 2x09! My thoughts... )

Unrelated, I realized one thing - Paul Gross is incredibly handsome, that's for sure, but I also love, love his voice!

OMG OMG OMG! My due South DVD box set is here! Like here, on the table next to me. All the seasons in one box. 11 DVDs! Fraser and RayV and RayK and Diefenbaker and Francesca and... and... *rolls in the pretty* Awesome!
katikat: (Default)
OMG, the episode Echoes was simply awesome! I've watched it three times already and I can't get enough *vbg* It's very original and interesting, there's action, special effects, h/c and incredibly cute Sheppard/McKay banter! This episode made me so very very happy!

My favorite scenes? The puddle jumper ones! And deaf!Rodney and deaf!Sheppard in the infirmary. Ha! A petulant Ronon - Jason does petulant so well *g* - and him falling asleep while meditating with Teyla. All the scenes with Teyla and Ronon were cute, how he cared for her and held her hand, my heart just melted, really *happy* The bickering between John and Rodney was incredible in this ep, like really. The glare John gave Rodney when Rodney almost hit him with his fist in the corridor! And it was John who came up with a plan! I love me some smart!Sheppard. Oh, and... "Pigeons!" 'nough said *giggles*

My favorite quotes? )

SGA fic rec!
MCSHEP --> The "Summer House" series by rageprufrock. It's a Xover with Eureka. Rodney and an injured Sheppard come to live in Eureka for some time until the local doctors find a way to heal John. And of course, they cause chaos, much to Sheriff Carter's amusement.

This fic made me realize how much I miss Eureka! I can't wait for it to start airing again in a couple of weeks. After I finish watching SGA, I think I will do an Eureka marathon! *nods*

So, I ordered the due South box set. They dropped the price to $29.99 and I just couldn't resist any longer. And wow, I didn't know that the series was called "the show that wouldn't die"! Apparently, it was canceled and they started already tearing down the sets when it was picked up again and Paul Gross became not just the actor but also the writer and producer and singer etc. etc. And the way the character ended in the series finale? The actors could decide for themselves how they wanted their character to end. I think it's cool :)

While chatting with [livejournal.com profile] yami_tai last night, I watched SGA's eps Return 1&2, with commentaries and without. I love Martin Gero talking about the show, he's so enthusiastic!

In these eps, there were some scenes that I really adored. Sheppard playing Rodney's human guinea pig and testing the intergalactic bridge. Ronon and Teyla coming to Sheppard's room and Ronon just grabbing Sheppard and picking him up - that was awesome! Rodney's phone call to Sheppard - it really felt like it was a regular thing for them \o/! The "it might be kinda sorta our fault?" and the "hypothetically" scenes. "My turtles!" - enough said XP! Woolsey and O'Neill in Atlantis - heh! The "General O'Neill, we need a favor" scene. The team saving the day and using Woolsey to do it! XD

It was so good! And the commentary was so funny! I loved Martin talking about Richard Dean Anderson, how Rick could never remember him and Rick's "Absolutely!" when they called and asked him if he would be willing to spend a day filming under water - Rick is apparently a great diver :) Oh, and I loved Martin wondering how it was possible that they always needed more script pages for SGA than they had needed for SG-1, how he wondered if the actors just talked faster on SGA or what XD

SGA fic rec!
MCSHEP --> "Bang" by rageprufrock. They have been on Earth for almost two months now and Sheppard still can't remember that he has to open doors manually to avoid another concussion! I love love LOVE that fic! The scenes in the ER are hilarious, when the doctor thinks that Sheppard is the "battered wife" and Rodney the "abusive husband". And John's honest "I just walked into a door" explanation really doesn't help! You have to read the fic like now! Words: 5.000+.

Oh my gosh! Amazon is selling due South the whole series in one box for $31.99 only! Four seasons (or three for the Americans) for 32 bucks? *grabby hands*

* According to the news, 75% of the Czech population support gay people and their registered partnerships. 15 years ago, it was only 10%, now it's 3/4 of the population. I feel proud of being Czech :)

* I spent the evening chatting with [livejournal.com profile] saidrifter! I finally caught her online and I wouldn't let go *grabby hands* I had a blast. Wonderful *vbg*

* The Czech network Prima is airing Psych these days. Would you believe that they labeled the show "not suitable for anyone under 18" and they air it at 11.30 p-frickin'-m?! I mean, Psych? Really? *head/desk*

* Yesterday, I bought some books for my mum! Iris Johansen's "The Ugly Duckling" and Katherine Stone's "Happy Endings" and "Imagine Love". They had them for 4 bucks each. I hope that she'll like them :)

* And while I was trying to pull [livejournal.com profile] saidrifter into the Due South fandom - not that she was protesting much, mind you ;P - I discovered this vid recap of dS' series finale. Spoilers for the finale of course. Awesome vid! The author warns that it's slashy but all she did was recap the last two episodes with music. She didn't alter the scenes or anything. Yes, the ending really was that slashy :)

* A great CW Source interview with Jared from the LA con! Beware, it's spoilery!

* I was going through IMBD last night and found this funny tidbit about Paul Gross: "Admits to 'including hints of homoeroticism' in the final series of Due South. He is quoted as saying that his new co-star Callum Keith Rennie was incredibly sexy and that the new series would be very homoerotic." Gosh, you have to love him!

* Off to work!
