A very average episode made good only by a generous amount of sexy Sheppard and Christina Cox guest starring. Otherwise, meh :(
Sheppard's reaction to the all female team was so OOC that it wasn't even funny. And of course, the women had to show him how to behave in a mature way *sigh*
I liked Major Teldy aka Christina Cox and if the show wasn't canceled, I would love to see her again. Though Dusty was a rather obnoxious character. And Porter had to get all lovey dovey with Carson, of course. What really surprised me though was the death of Vega. I mean, she was the only character that we knew from before so it was kinda shocking that they killed her.
And Carson... Okay, I have never been a huge Carson fan. This episode would have maybe worked better if the whole team was there but since they were filming another ep at that time, the actors were not available. So, they were basically left with Sheppard and they needed someone with him. Cue in Carson.
Besides, the episode just didn't make any sense. Three people go out, two stay behind, one of them gets kidnapped. Latter, rinse, repeat. It was like a stuck record. They didn't have any goal, they just kept looking for people they kept losing. Meh :(
But Sheppard was hot, that's a true fact!
One good soul posted the actors' reaction to the cancellation of SGA on YouTube and I have to say, I cried my eyes out. Amanda Tapping's comment confirms that obviously no one understands TPTB's decision - the show is good, the ratings are good and they canceled the series anyway. But what made me literally cry was Joe Flanigan. He always bails out on these things but this time, he stayed and said his piece. Usually, he's really bouncy and exuberant but in this vid, he was rather subdued and really sad. When he talked about how he loved to play Sheppard, when he thanked SGA's fans for their loyalty... I just wanted to give him a hug.
This whole episode felt like a plot device to push the romance between Shawn and Juliet forward. I don't mind, since I love that couple but it did feel kind of sudden.
But it's nice to see how Shawn changed in the past three years. At the beginning, he was so gung-ho, he acted before thinking. Now he's actually afraid when his friends get themselves in a harm's way. And lately, he started being more and more selfless - maybe the discovery of what really went down between his father and his mother influenced him more than a little. When he took the blame for the bust that Jules pushed even though he warned her not to do it...
I loved the last two scenes. The roller-blade ride with Shawn and Jules touching was quite nice :) And Shawn taking the test for Gus was simply hilarious. It showed that he's more intelligent than he pretends to be, that he could do anything he wanted... :)
