Looks great. I just need to see S2 first :P
katikat: (actor-karlurban)

Karl Urban is so incredibly sexy... *_* And now we will be having him on our screens every week! *_* I hope this is a hit, I really, really, really hope so!

Also, since I plan to sample at least 5 shows this fall, I decided to delegate a few oldies to DVD. I already did it with Psych (haven't seen any eps from S7) and now it's time for Grimm, Person of Interest and Castle. I have seen 1 ep from Grimm's S2 and it didn't really grip me. With Person of Interest, I haven't even started S2 yet. Not that I'm not interested, my plate's just too full. And Castle... the last ep I saw was 509, if I'm not mistaken. I just can't be bothered to catch up. So, DVDs it will be. Amazon UK usually drops the price to around 12-13Ł within a year after the box set's release.

I mean, I'm up-to-date with exactly 2 shows: Hannibal and NCIS:LA. And I would also like to watch some of the box sets that I own, like Babylon 5, Star Trek: TOS, Star Trek: Enterprise, The X-Files, Stargate SG-1, Leverage, Starsky & Hutch, The Professionals... I own all these shows in their entirety and I still haven't watched the DVDs, for Christ's sake. Something must be done about that! Not to mention the SCORES of movies on DVD.

NBC just renewed Parenthood, Revolution, Grimm, Law & Order: SVU and Chicago Fire: source.

Don't count on Hannibal getting S2. Its ratings pretty much plummeted: 1.6 --> 1.7 --> 1.4 --> 1.0 last night. I now simply hope that NBC airs all the episodes filmed.

And I'm caught up on S1, go me! Every time I watch it, I have to laugh because everybody and their uncle thought this would be one of the first shows canceled last year. And it ended up being one of NBC's most successful series. LOL!

... I used the Amazon gift certificate that I got from [livejournal.com profile] yami_tai - love ya, girl! - and bought...

JGL's movies: The Lookout and Uncertainty
Tom Hardy's: Rocknrolla and This Means War
James McAvoy's: State of Play

I also decided to delegate Grimm to DVD and not watch it "live". I still haven't finished S1 and S2 is well on its way and I just can't raise any interest for it in me. I like the show, I really do, it was the only new series that I picked up last season, but... I don't know. I would rather watch movies or listen to podfics.

Decided to finally catch up on Grimm. Yeah, I'm WAY behind on this show, obviously.

Official promo poster!

Grimm S2 premieres on Monday Aug. 13 already and it'll then later on move back to Friday. And that reminds me - Grimm is another show I need to catch up on since I got stuck on ep 112 a while back. Waaaaaaaaaaah! *tears at hair*

NBC renewed Grimm for S2: link! How awesome is that? *bounces*

Aaaaaaaaaand I'm all caught up. Who would've thought that the show that everybody was so certain would flop would turn out so good?

Of the three shows that aired yesterday, I enjoyed Grimm the most and Fringe the least. Supernatural is closest to my heart, so I can't really be objective there ;P But Grimm! Man, that was fantastic!

Supernatural )

Fringe )

This was a h/c fest! Girl-saves-boy! Worried partners/friends! It felt like Xmas again!

Grimm )

Overall, I'm very content with last night's programming :)
katikat: (S_Mentalist)
The Mentalist: Loved the episode as a whole and was glad to add yet another "girl saves boy" item to my list. The beginning with Lisbon and Jane was epic and it pushed all my protective!girl buttons \o/

Grimm: You know what's great about this show? Besides its mythology in general and Monroe in particular? That Nick didn't grow up as a Grimm so he doesn't have these pre-set prejudices against "monsters", that he actually genuinely wants to help them, he doesn't want to kill them on sight. Having Monroe as a "source" helps, of course, because Monroe lets him see the things from the "monster's" POV and Nick's willing to listen. I also really like Hank and Juliette and Sgt. Wu! Best new show of the season, hands down.

I decided to keep this episode of Merlin and watch it together with the season finale next week, since it's ep 1 and 2, you know? That way, I'll get the whole story at once.

Grimm received a full season pick up from NBC: link!

Woohoo! Awesome. I wouldn't have thought I would actually enjoy this show as much as I do but it really deserved the pick-up. I love what the writers are doing with the mythology of the Grimm family and the Reapers.

Prime Suspect canceled: link.

Pan Am de facto canceled: link. No official report yet, but the show is only "technically being considered for a second season." Its ratings were really, really bad...

I didn't watch either show but I know that some peeps on my flist did...

TVLine about Fringe's grim future: link. Let's just say, only a miracle can save the show now. It's better to brace yourself and watch S4 as if it was the last one.

This is, hands down, the best new series on TV right now. It's creepy and funny and all the characters are really likable - especially Eddie! And it's actually doing well in the ratings too: just this week, it beat all the shows that aired at 9pm on Friday, it was equal only to CSI:NY, but skewing much younger. It's NBC's best new show and I hope it gets a full season pick-up soon. On the other hand, we are talking about NBC here, dumb decisions are their forte *eye-roll*

Very happy with this series!
katikat: (W_BlackWhite)
I expected more from this episode of Fringe, Novation. It turned out to be just another MOTW ep with very little focus on the main characters and advancing their story. This should've been the big reveal, the game changer, I expected to be blown away. In the end, I ffwded through some parts. I guess I'll be back to marathoning this show. I'm not sure I like how they handle this season...

Grimm on the other hand, I found really intriguing. It's very much like Supernatural, just with one guy with a regular job instead of brothers working off the grid. Horror slash urban fantasy slash cop show, IMHO. Kinda hard to pin the genre. But I like it. I like the partnership between Nick and Hank. Marie was kick-ass, literally! Sgt. Wu is funny. And Eddie's a HOOT! I just love the banter between Nick and Eddie - Eddie so exasperated with his "You know that we should be enemies, right?" attitude and Nick so earnest in his "But I trust you!" woobie way. LOL! This one's a keeper.

* CBS officially canceled Shit My Dad Says. ETA: Defenders and Mad Love also canned.

* Fast Five? Wow at its box office success! $440 mil. worldwide so far! Fast and Furious (#4 in the series) earned "only" $363 mil. According to Box Office Mojo, the movie has a shot to reach $200 mil. in the US theaters. Wow.

* NBC fall schedule: FUCK! Grimm's going against Supernatural and Fringe on Friday 9pm! Link. Damn, damn, damn! It means that a) either Grimm will flop or b) it'll hurt the other shows. Damn! The only show on NBC I wanted to see succeed...
