My favorite parts are definitely the scenes with Peter and Walter. Mostly, Peter's all exasperated and frustrated, but sometimes, there's this look of soft affection on his face, like he finally found the father he has been missing for 20 years and he's so happy about it.

When I first watched the series, I think the most shocking S1 twist for me was the last scene with Water, the one in the graveyard, when we see what's written on the headstone of the grave he's visiting. That completely boggled my mind back then. Just... wow! What an unexpected twist!

One thing I don't like much is Olivia's attitude towards Broyles. I think that sometimes she forgets that he IS her superior and she owes him respect. The way she always barges into his office, making demands? That wouldn't fly with me, let me tell you. If Broyles were an unreasonable egotist, fine. But he's usually very accommodating and open to suggestions and I think that Olivia's abusing that a bit, his leniency.

Also, I think that Nina Sharp is pretty cool!

I got this sudden craving to watch Fringe again. Olivia and Peter and Walter. I love the relationship between Olivia and Peter, and between Peter and Walter. Both push my buttons like whoa.

You see, I love it when the woman is the "muscle", the one with the gun, kicking ass, and the guy is the "brain", strong in his own right but not the "action" part of the couple. I love this dynamic in a ship. It gives me the feeling that it's the woman who holds the power in her hand. It feels like their relationship is more equal that way. Because when the guy is the brain, he's still not helpless when it comes to a brawl - when the woman is the brain, she's usually frail or even fragile, a flower that needs protecting. And I kinda hate that. But Peter, even though he has an IQ of 190, still knows how to hold a gun, even though he's usually not the one waving it around. That's Olivia's job and he doesn't try to take it away from her or play her part. And I love that.

And Peter and Walter... when you know what's coming, what Walter did and what he caused... Wow, just... wow. His love for his son rivals Sam and Dean's co-dependency. Yeah, Peter doesn't always appreciate it - actually, most of the time - but those scenes where Peter and Walter make each other smile, they are simply precious. That bit where Walter drugged Peter and Peter called him "daddy" under influence, the way it stopped Walter cold - heartbreaking, considering Peter always calls Walter "Walter" and not "dad".

So yeah, the perfect show to scratch my "I WANT SCI-FI!" itch. Wonderful!

Spoilers! Or like father, like son! )

You know what I don't get? People who bitch about the pseudo-science in this show. I mean, seriously, the whole show is based on pseudo-science! Parallel worlds! Time-travel! Psychic powers! What do people expect when they read the premise? A documentary? :-/

Oh my, this S5 trailer called "Resist" is simply amazing! I really like how they changed the tone of the show this season!

Lincoln & Fauxlivia, Fringe

They are my second favorite pairing in this show. I just love how different their dynamic is from Olivia and Peter's. In their relationship, it's definitely Fauxlivia who wears the pants and Lincoln is quite happy with that.

I love how different Fauxlivia is from Olivia. She's more open and fun and she lives her life to the fullest, whether it's while kicking the bad guys' asses or bantering with friends. She's much more self-confident than Olivia and when she likes something, she gets it. That's why I think she and Lincoln, our Lincoln will fit together perfectly!

Olivia & Peter, Fringe

I'm not usually into canon ships but these two GIVE ME FEELINGS! For me, they are the heart of the show. I have yet to encounter an official canon couple that would be more equal. They both kick ass, they're both smart and they both have special abilities. I don't know why other writers seem so unable to create such a beautiful partnership as these two have.

I like that they both softened each other. Olivia used to be hard but also brittle, always on the verge of breaking and falling apart yet fighting tooth and nail to keep it together and kick the bad guys' asses all the way to Sunday. Peter, on the other hand, was hardened and cynical, trusting nobody at all. Yet when these two met, it was like two puzzle pieces clicking. Peter gave Olivia a reason to keep it together, to wake up in the morning. And Olivia taught Peter to trust again. And the way they work together, she smacking people around, he doing science-y stuff... Awesome!

Also, once more, it's all about the chemistry between the actors. The way Olivia and Peter smile at each other, it makes me all fuzzy on the inside. The actors convey love so beautifully, it's in their smiles, in their eyes... I love that Peter and Olivia's relationship is... quiet, soft, sweet - not loud and in your face. I love the way the actors portray it, you feel that Peter and Olivia's love is such an integral part of them. It's gorgeous...

You peeps were right, 412 really was the turning point. Why, oh, why did they drag out the set-up so much?

412-414 )

You know what I have always loved about Fringe? That it's good, old-fashioned sci-fi. Sure, it's Earth based, not a space opera, but it's about exploration, it's not an after-school special dressed up as sci-fi and it doesn't try to solve humanity's problems, it doesn't deal with stuff that "deep" sci-fi feel the need to pick apart till it bores you to death. It's no BSG or SGU - fortunately! It's Star Trek and SGA/SG-1, it's about adventure and meeting the alien-of-the-week in their weekly case stories. It's exactly the kind of sci-fi I adore!
katikat: (S_Fringe)
I really, really dislike what the writers did with the show in S4 and I have a really, really hard time convincing myself to continue watching it. They basically destroyed everything that made the show special to me - the relationship between Walter and Peter and between Olivia and Peter - and right now, I honestly almost hate it...

Fox renewed Fringe for a 5th and last season, 13 episodes were ordered: link. I'm glad that the show will be given a chance to wrap up everything properly! The ratings were abysmal and I don't even want to know just how low WB had to go with the licensing fees to get Fox to order the fifth season *cringes*

Oh, well. I'm just happy to get more Peter and Olivia and Walter! Usually, I'm not after ships but I just adore Peter/Olivia and I hope they do make them a real, lasting couple and give them some epic finale!

Of the three shows that aired yesterday, I enjoyed Grimm the most and Fringe the least. Supernatural is closest to my heart, so I can't really be objective there ;P But Grimm! Man, that was fantastic!

Supernatural )

Fringe )

This was a h/c fest! Girl-saves-boy! Worried partners/friends! It felt like Xmas again!

Grimm )

Overall, I'm very content with last night's programming :)

As you know, I'm a slasher at heart but there are het couples that I'm really attached to and I want to see them get together. Soon. Now!

Tony&Ziva from NCIS: she kicks ass, he talks. And I'm a bit miffed that after all the build up in the previous seasons, any chance of a relationship between these two seems to have been disregarded completely.

Beckett&Castle from Castle: again, she kicks ass, he talks. And they have so much fun together. Just watching them fills me with glee!

Annie&Auggie from Covert Affairs: she tries to kick ass, he kicks ass despite his blindness. Together, they are the best part of the series.

Peter&Olivia from Fringe: she kicks ass, he's smart as hell. Their relationship is a thing to behold. That's why I'm rather angry with the writers and with the way they keep fumbling this season.

Nathan&Audrey from Haven: she helps the Troubled, he's a Troubled one. The fact that he can't feel pain makes him the perfect woobie because she always has to watch over him so that he doesn't get hurt without realizing it...

Grimm received a full season pick up from NBC: link!

Woohoo! Awesome. I wouldn't have thought I would actually enjoy this show as much as I do but it really deserved the pick-up. I love what the writers are doing with the mythology of the Grimm family and the Reapers.

Prime Suspect canceled: link.

Pan Am de facto canceled: link. No official report yet, but the show is only "technically being considered for a second season." Its ratings were really, really bad...

I didn't watch either show but I know that some peeps on my flist did...

TVLine about Fringe's grim future: link. Let's just say, only a miracle can save the show now. It's better to brace yourself and watch S4 as if it was the last one.

I really, really, really don't like the new spoilers for NCIS:LA: link. This is seriously jumping the shark. I already put the show on a hiatus and this... I now don't even feel like watching it again. WTF, Shane Brennan?! WTF!

A good episode of Fringe, I liked the sci-fi part of the episode, the episodic plot. The overall arc... Not so much. The show feels so tired and slow, the whole Peter storyline is dragging out so much and I'm actively starting to dislike Walter. Basically, the episode made me feel sad and depressed which is not why I watch the series.

Finally got back to watching Leverage. I think it was ep 209 - yeah, I'm that far behind. I'm just dreading the whole Tara arc. I really hate the character, her smirking, her attitude. She's bad blood. I would've preferred if they didn't introduce any replacement. I would've liked to see them struggle without a grifter. Knowing in how many episodes Tara will be is putting me off *sigh*

Also, finally watched Once Upon A Time, eps 101 and 102. I do like Emma and Henry, but... that's pretty much it. The rest of the characters just don't interest me at all. They just aren't gripping enough, engaging enough. I honestly don't feel like watching more. I like Grimm much better.
katikat: (W_BlackWhite)
I expected more from this episode of Fringe, Novation. It turned out to be just another MOTW ep with very little focus on the main characters and advancing their story. This should've been the big reveal, the game changer, I expected to be blown away. In the end, I ffwded through some parts. I guess I'll be back to marathoning this show. I'm not sure I like how they handle this season...

Grimm on the other hand, I found really intriguing. It's very much like Supernatural, just with one guy with a regular job instead of brothers working off the grid. Horror slash urban fantasy slash cop show, IMHO. Kinda hard to pin the genre. But I like it. I like the partnership between Nick and Hank. Marie was kick-ass, literally! Sgt. Wu is funny. And Eddie's a HOOT! I just love the banter between Nick and Eddie - Eddie so exasperated with his "You know that we should be enemies, right?" attitude and Nick so earnest in his "But I trust you!" woobie way. LOL! This one's a keeper.

Ah, my show is back. This is what I was missing in the first two episodes of S4!

Eps 403&404 )

And I'm all caught up. Right now, I'm not sure if I'll keep on watching or just wait and marathon the eps again. The next episode will be fantastic, the promo pretty much blew my mind!
katikat: (S_Fringe)
So, Fringe is on a mini-hiatus - no new episode this week - so I decided to catch up on it.

Spoilers for 401 & 402 )

2 eps to go and I'm caught up!
