Riptide's Baxter and Boz
Aug. 17th, 2008 09:13 pmYou know, there were some cute scenes in Riptide's 2x13 episode Baxter and Boz but two really stuck in my mind:
--> The very first scene where Murray helped Baxter even though Bax looked like a crazy homeless man. Boz has such a good heart.
--> The first scene with the Screaming Mimi where Cody and Nick were doing repairs and Murray was just sitting there, in the Mimi, dangling his legs and telling them about his encounter with Baxter. It felt so... homey, I guess :)
I would like to write a short ficlet, a sort of coda to this episode, where Baxter would offer them a job: Murray should work in the development branch, Cody take care of the company's security and Nick should be the test pilot. The whole ficlet would basically be about Nick and Cody talking and Cody having misgivings about Nick being a test pilot. Hm, maybe I should really write it...

Riptide 2x10 - 2x12
Jul. 24th, 2008 11:38 pmI was suddenly in the mood for some more Riptide and I succumbed to my dark needs...
2x10, Catch a Fallen Star: A very cute episode with the trio helping the old lady! The way she kept calling Nick "Nicky". Nick behaved like a real gentleman!
2x11, Gams People Play: Nick was so tired, the poor poor thing. I loved how he kept falling asleep everywhere. And Cody and Murray really didn't take the job to ogle young girls in bikini *snickers*
2x12, Prisoner of War: I like it that they keep bringing back the issues of the war in Vietnam. I actually got all teary eyed when Nick brought the old man to Peggy at the very end, it was so moving.
I would really like to see an ep about them suffering from PTSD because of everything that they saw and did in Vietnam. It would be really nice :)
I'm thinking of maybe making a Riptide LJ mood theme now that I'm finished with the Monochrome Factor one (the one that I'm currently using)...

According to TVShowsOnDVD, Riptide - The Complete Serie won't be released on DVD until Sept. 9 :( Yeah, they are lowering the price (ten bucks) but moving the box set back almost two months *sigh*
Well, at least I can save money for it. On the other hand, in September, Supernatural and Chuck are coming out on DVD too! It'll be a busy month!

Of the Middleman and Riptide
Jul. 18th, 2008 11:06 pmIt's unbelievable but I'm not all caught up on The Middleman! ( My spoilery thoughts on 1x05 )
And I also managed to watch Riptide, eps 2x08 and 2x09! ( My thoughts... )
Unrelated, I realized one thing - Paul Gross is incredibly handsome, that's for sure, but I also love, love his voice!

The Middleman 1x04: Ha, Men in Black, the Middleman version. Kinda cute XP
Riptide 2x07: Poor poor Nick, all upset and crying - Joe Penny did an awesome job! Cody and Murray comforting him (do I smell a threesome there? ;P). Murray breaking locks! Ha! Nice!
Reading:
"Twilight" by Ally Blue. Man, I so missed gay romances!
On the fanfic front, it's still Martha Wilson ;)
Anime:
Black Lagoon will get a 3rd season! Huzzah!
Question:
Is it Saturday yet? New Stargate Atlantis! New Psych! New Flashpoint! What is this thing called "summer hiatus" again?

Riptide and Supernatural
Jul. 15th, 2008 09:06 amSupernatural:
This sounds interesting: "In the Hunt: Unauthorized Essays on Supernatural" - "A relative newcomer to the paranormal-teen drama scene, the hit TV show Supernatural has already developed a rabid and deeply committed fan base since its debut in the fall of 2005. When their dad mysteriously disappears, brothers Dean and Sam Winchester join forces to bring him home and are pulled headlong into the world he knew best—one full of demons, spirits, monsters, and ghouls. Featuring essays from three lucky fans as well as leading writers and pop culture experts, this insightful anthology sheds light on a variety of issues, including why such a male-centric show has such a large female fan base, “Wincest” and homoeroticism, how Supernatural can be interpreted as a modern-day Brothers Grimm, and the questionable nature of John Winchester’s parenting habits. An exclusive, behind-the-scenes interview with executive story editor Sera Gamble is also included." Really interesting! Thank you for the link
lemmealone!
And a fic rec!
WINCEST --> "Better Elsewhere" by
veronamay. An alternate version of 2x20, where Sam is caught in the djinn's spell... It made me happy and it made me terribly sad but all in all, it's another amazing fic by this author! Words: 20.000+.

Riptide: ( My thoughts about eps 2x05 and 2x06 )
Riptide and Hey, I didn't know that!
Jul. 13th, 2008 11:18 amLast night, there was an awful, terrible storm and I lost my net connection. I didn't get it back until like an hour ago. But! I used that time to watch some more Riptide...
2x03, Catch of the Day: Heh, a mermaid! I loved the relationship between the guys and Arnie, that they genuinely liked him and didn't consider him an idiot. The scene where Nick put the journalist in her place was awesome. Joe Penny does that sort of emotional stuff so well, I wonder if that's the reason why they give all these scenes to him.
2x04, Mirage: The best part of this episode? Kabir Bedi! I love him. And Wendy Kilbourne was so beautiful! I loved her on Midnight Caller. It was good to see a more Murray-centric episode. The whole scene in the bathroom at the beginning of the ep was so funny! And the guys did taxes! Ha :D
I watched the special features on the last DVD in the SGA S3 box set. The look back at S3 with Martin Gero was quite interesting. It featured Paul McGillion and it was obvious how sad he was that he had to leave the show :( I'm happy that they made it up for him in S4!
Oh, and I didn't know that they fired Rainbow Sun Francks not just because his character was boring but also because Rainbow was perpetually late and unprepared and that upset the whole crew and filming. From what I heard, Rainbow even wrote a song about it. I never liked his character, Lt. Ford, and it's interesting to hear an explanation for his departure from the show...

Of Riptide and awkward situations
Jul. 12th, 2008 03:40 pmI loved, adored Riptide's ep 2x02, The Orange Grove! This is, IMHO, the best episode as of yet. The guys were at their best, kicking butts and being all kinds of awesome and capable! I especially loved pilot!Nick. We usually see him only in the Mimi but in a real military chopper... *swoons* And the guys in uniforms, oh my! Oh, and Murray had been a Colonel! Who would have thought that! That ep made me all kinds of happy!
I usually don't write about RL in this LJ but... ( awkward. )

Of Riptide and TV shows...
Jul. 11th, 2008 07:56 pmYay, I watched Riptide, ep 2x01. The girls were terribly, awfully annoying. Grr! I couldn't believe that they used this ep as a season opener. And let me tell you, I like Ken Olandt but his part here annoys me terribly. But it was great to see young Claudia Christian and George Clooney :D
Interesting things:
- Cody's family is obviously rich and Nick didn't know about it. I wonder why...
- Nick was dumped by a rich girl, even though her parents learned to really like him.
- Nick is an awesome awesome guy and Cody really needs to grow up *sigh*
- Murray sneaking into the comp room! Ha!
I liked the scenes with the guys, they were rather revealing, but I think that they could have toned the girls down a bit.
Oh my, new SGA tonight! New Psych next week! New Eureka in two weeks! I love summer, some of my most favorite shows premiere! I'm so looking forward to all of them :)
But it looks like SPN won't return until Oct. 2nd, the day SV premieres? I mean, the CW wanted to air both shows together, right? So, no new SPN until October? That hurts... :(
But, according to PiFeedback, SPN drew in 1.90 mil. viewers this week and thus it was the most watched series on the CW! (I don't count Friday Night Smackdown because that's dropping from the CW's schedule anyway.) It did better than SV in numbers and almost as well in the demo: SV 0.7/3, SPN 0.7/2. At least something. GoGi, Reaper, OTH - none of the shows broke the 1.20 mil. treshold.

Riptide: Raiders of the Lost Sub
Jul. 5th, 2008 09:45 pmI think that this episode was the slashiest as of yet. I mean it. And once again, we see pissy!Cody - he really does behave in a bit of an immature way rather often, doesn't he? When I look at those two, Cody and Nick I mean, I sometimes feel like Nick is the older, wiser one and Cody just goes with his head against the wall time and time again. It's strange.
It's like their relationship with Melba - they decide to treat her like a sister and who goes and breaks their little pact intentionally? Cody. Where he was totally enamored with Melba, Nick just felt plain uncomfortable... It's like Double Your Pleasure all over again. Nick doesn't want to have anything in common with the girl, Cody is smashed and of course, he accuses Nick of being jealous. Nick can repeat over and over again that Melba is crazy and that she is after anything in pants, but Cody twists and turns his words anyway. Poor Nick.
But it was great to see Geena Davis! And Lance Henricksen, too! I mean, back then, those two weren't even considered "special guest stars", just plain "guest stars" and look at them today. Crazy :)

Riptide, baby!
Jun. 30th, 2008 07:48 pmThe episode Double Your Pleasure was awesome! So much character stuff, just the way I like it!
I hurt for Nick. I mean, he tried to really talk to Cody, to make Cody see what he was doing, how blind he was to who Marcy was. And Cody didn't just diss Nick's words, he basically accused Nick of being jealous that he, Cody, won the girl for once. I mean, this ep was full of hurt!Cody - the accident - but my heart went mostly to Nick.
And the Nick and Murray stuff was so good! I loved how gently Nick smiled every time Murray tried to make him feel better. And there was so much touching between those two that I could really believe the slash there.
Oh, and the funny stuff! I adored Murray talking about skin products and what to use to not get burned. I loved the "the geeks don't tan, they burn" scene XD And when Nick and Cody just picked Murray up and carried him under the deck... That was simply hilarious!
But back to Nick and Cody. The hospital scene killed me dead, like really. Nick forgave Cody everything and even promised to save the girl. Aww... And the scene between Murray and Nick in the restaurant, when Nick told Murray that he just wanted Cody to be happy, in this kind, gentle voice... That's what I love about Joe Penny, he does these scenes in such an amazing way...
So, all in all, this episode was awesome. And it gave me so many slashy plot bunnies. Yes, emotionally hurt Nick makes my little me happy, go figure ;P

Riptide is LOVE!
Jun. 28th, 2008 09:58 pmI just finished watching Riptide's episode Long Distance Daddy. That must be one of the best ep this show has to offer. I'm not talking about the plot, but about the character interaction - yup, it's all about character interaction for me, always.
I loved it when Nick and Murray were cleaning the boat together; when Murray asked that surely, they were not running, or were they; when Cody learned that Nick was a "long distance daddy" and didn't tell Cody and when Nick said to Cody that he didn't tell him everything that was going on in his life to which Cody replied that he did; when Nick was so worried about the kids, talking all earnestly and quietly; when the guys just went to the airport, brandishing guns without knowing what was going on... I could continue on and on XP
BTW, did the bad guys really imply that the Riptide belongs to Nick? They said that Nick was the owner of the red car and that he lived on his boat in the harbor...
Conclusion? Nick and Cody are so married. Murray is still awesome and naive in a very cute way. Quinlan is still a jerk... I love the show :D

tinx_r decided to do some Riptide squeeing today! Hurray! It's always better to slash en masse XD
* You know what's my happy LJ place these days?
sgagenrefinders! Why can't the fic finding comms in the SPN fandom be this relaxed and open?
* I've been reading "Dead Witch Walking" by Kim Harrison these days. The beginning was a bit slow but now it looks like it's picking up :)
* Off to have lunch with friends! Hm, Chinese or KFC? *drools*

Two questions!
Jun. 2nd, 2008 11:33 amMy dear friends, I have two questions, one work-related, one Riptide-related...
1. Work-related: Does the word "pwent" mean anything? Does it describe anything? Does it depict a sound? Anything at all?
2. Riptide-related: How many months did Nick Ryder spend in prison because of Lt. Quinlan? It was said early on, in the first couple of eps of the show, and it happened pre-series. I think that it was three months but I'm not sure now...

Interesting...
May. 22nd, 2008 02:53 pm--> Today, I translated only 10 pages because, uh, let's just say that when you write that someone stabbed his victim with a "cat" instead of a "knife", it's better to take a break XD
--> ( The SPN spoiler for S4 everyone is talking about... )
--> I finished a gen Riptide ficlet! A coda to the episode Somebody's Killing The Great Geeks Of America.
--> USA picks up a pair: "White Collar is a drama that follows a con man who is forced to work with the FBI in order to catch criminals. In the medical comedy-drama hybrid Royal Pains, a young doctor relocates to the Hamptons and becomes an on-call doctor for the area's wealthy residents." Could be cool! :)

Just being lazy...
Mar. 29th, 2008 09:53 pmOn Friday, I received my parcel from Amazon! "Daemon Eyes" by Camille Bacon-Smith and the first volume of "Tactics" by Kazuko Higashiyama. And since I finished reading Sherrilyn Kenyon's "Night Embrace" today, I think I will now start "Tactics".
Until yesterday, I had only the vols 2-7 of this manga at home and since I considered it kinda weird to start a series with the 2nd book, the pile kept hanging around my room and keeping me company for months. But now, I can finally read it. I'm quite curious about this manga. I loved the anime and even wrote a yaoi fic for it back then - "The Treasure in His Hands". So I hope, that the manga will be as yaoi-sh as the anime was!
And I just finished a drabblety Riptide PWP O.O *iz dead*
