Jin, Samurai Champloo

Jin really rocked the sword and those mad skillz. And the glasses! His endless bickering with Mugen was hilarious. Man, their fights were awesome. I have never seen anything like it in an anime. I just loved how he and Mugen went from enemies over reluctant allies to friends - not that they would ever admit it, of course. But it was lovely.

Hakkai, Saiyuki

Gentle, kind and good-natured - and buckets o' crazy and dangerous too. Hakkai is the one who's always trying to keep a good mood in the group. Yet in reality, he's quite sad and heartbroken and his power is... so, so cool! Also, whenever he turned demon-ish, it gave me this thrill because he was so scary! And I loved his pet, Jeep the Dragon! And it didn't hurt that he and Gojyo lived together in a house with one - ONE - bed! There're hints and then there's rubbing it in ;)

Michiru, Sailor Moon

Beautiful, sweet, gentle, caring, brave, strong, smart, talented, amazing. Michiru has always been my favorite SM heroine. The fact that she's a lesbian and her relationship with Haruka makes me swoon just thinking of it also helps. Gosh, gosh, gosh... I really need to get my hands on the manga that has been reprinted lately and maybe even check out the new SM anime that should come out soon. Oh, Michiru... Love her so much :)
katikat: (An_Occult)
There will be a new Sailor Moon anime next year: link! I'm really, really looking forward to it. From what I hear, it should follow the manga more closely and it should be more mature, not so silly. I'm all for it! SM was the first anime I fell hard for!

And that reminds me...

Michiru & Haruka, Sailor Moon

Haruka and Michiru are the only lesbian couple I've ever shipped HARD! [ETA: I completely forgot about Xena and Gabrielle!] I couldn't believe that the Americans turned them into cousins! Seriously? They were lesbian and lovers, the show made it VERY clear. And the Americans, in their usual need to "clean" stuff, basically added incest because everybody who knew anything about SM also knew about Haruka and Michiru's romantic relationship.

One of my favorite episodes was the one where Michiru died trying to save Haruka and Haruka then killed herself. It was even more beautiful because their deaths weren't permanent. But it was such an incredible - and very Japanese :P - proof of love!

These two always felt very... self-sufficient, like they lived in a world of their own. They usually didn't join the main five in their dumb adventures, they just lived for themselves... They were rarely seen apart, always standing next to each other, always protecting each other... Gosh, I want to see it again! \o/

The two-part anime OVA Sex Pistols is based on the famous manga series "Love Pistols". Why famous? Because it handles a theme I've never seen handled anywhere in manga and/or anime before - mpreg. And it does it with style and humor, introducing a special race, the "madara", people/shapeshifters with animal souls.

So, the OVA. It's a love story, what else ;)

This is Yonekuni, a dragon, who hates men yet he's in love with...

... Fujiwara, a wolf, without knowing it.

I felt so sorry for Fujiwara, because of the way Yonekuni treated him. But the ending was all that sweeter, when Yonekuni finally realized what was going on and went to Fujiwara. Aww...

I also really loved the relationship between the brothers, Yonekuni and Kumimasa, the way Kumimasa always made sure his brother was warm, what with Yonekuni's animal being a cold-blooded reptile. The relationship between Kumimasa and his soul-mate Norio, though?

Pure comic relief!

I just loved how Norio could work himself into a frenzy. And the way he tended to turn into a cat in bed which meant no sex for poor Kumimasa, LOL!

There were also other relationships, like between the bears, and the breeding, how children were made and born in this race, was touched upon. It was creepy, yet so hilariously done!

Man, it's too bad this manga is all sold out. I remember loving the scanlations!

Thank the gods above! Someone else picked up the Shounen Onmyouji anime. It's another new group (they seem to multiply like white mice lately) - Impetuosity Productions. But I think that anything is better than DBZLouisD. Their translation was not bad but there were so many mistakes that sometimes, it didn't make any sense whatsoever! X(

So, here is the torrent for the first ep. I will download it too even though I usually don't download one ep twice no matter how bad the translation is. But this anime is excellent and deserves a good translation!

Soul Link

You know, I don't think I've ever seen an anime with female characters as stupid as the ones in Soul Link. Dumber girls I've seen only in comedy series, really. Sayaka chan can only whimper "Aya...", Nao's sniveling "Shuuhei-kun..." all the time and Aya is so dumb that she doesn't even truly realize that she is a hostage. The only female characters with spunk are Yuu, Karen and Celaria.

And the plot! X( With different characters, it might have been interesting. But the boys and girls are soldiers in training but they can't follow any commands without arguing or downright ignoring them, they keep watching bugs and cooking hamburgers instead of planning what to do or at least guarding their positions. Not to mention that no one actually carries a gun even though they are under siege and under attack all the time. Anybody can fly in or out using the repair machines and nobody even tries to stop them, they don't even guard the dock that holds the machines.

Oh, and the whole thing with being under siege. At first, it's suggested that the part of the station where they are hiding is relatively small. But then, service tunnels and even a CELLAR appear there and NOBODY knows anything about it even though they have two computer experts who could simply pull out the station plans of the HDD...

The only interesting thing there? Yuu and Shin. Otherwise it's rather bleh :( But since there is only 13 eps and I have 9 downloaded already, I think I will download the rest too to have the whole series. I hate having stuff with parts missing :(

My mum has the worst luck ever. This time it ended up with stitches in her leg and a bumb the size of a small melon on her head. 'nough said! *grumbles*

I finished reading Jo Bannister's "Echoes of Lies". And now, I understand Deacon's reasoning and his dislike of Daniel much better. I must say that I would have reacted the same way if someone behaved like Daniel did in this book.

And now, I don't know what to read next. I have two books that I have started but not finished. They are very good, even excellent. I'm just not sure if I feel like reading sci-fi at the moment. And when you are not in the mood, it can ruin the enjoyment of even the best book *eyes her "Amazon bookshelves"*

At the mo, I'm playing catch-up with all the stuff I downloaded. I finally finished watching Magikano and I'm not sure what to think of this anime. I mean, on the one hand, it's a crazy harem anime, on the other... And the ending... I'm not sure if it was a happy end or a bad end or if it even was an ending at all. Strange.

And hear me squee! The first ep of the Prince of Tennis OVAs subbed! And I just realized that somehow, slowly, without me actually noticing... Oishi replaced Tezuka as my Nr. 1. Oishi is the Mother-hen!character I always seek in every anime. And he and Eiji simply fit.

I mustn't forget Soul Link! I heard that the whole "students in space" scenario is not new or original, but I like it. But I would prefer for the female characters to be less whiny (and dumb) :(

Off to watch more anime...

... on some of the anime series I've been watching...

Folks, even if you are not fans of the Karin anime, go and download the latest ep (18th). It's pure fan service and they make fun of all the boy-school-manga. Karin's bro Ren gets stuck in a school for boys and has the beautiful Makoto for a roommate... without spoiling it, lets just say that a bottle of lube, a gay tea party and blood sucking appear in this episode... Excellent, truly excellent! Go and watch it!

The second season of Meine Liebe - Meine Liebe Wieder - is teh goodness. Orphe and Ed, Naoji and Lui, Camus and Elmunt *happy sigh* And the way it's drawn... bishonen everywhere. And so much yaoi potential that one doesn't know what pairing to choose *happy happy*

And Shakugan no Shana series ended but there will be a movie! Yay! As much as I loved Yuuji and Shana at the beginning, now I'm more interested in Satou and Marjory-san. I would like to see more of this pairing because Marjory is so cool - sexy, drunk most of the time and she kicks ass - and Satou would be perfect for her.

Oh, and did you notice the screencaps from the new Saint Beast OVA that were posted at [livejournal.com profile] yaoi_daily? Oh.My.God! I almost fainted. Yuuda... So very very cool. That must be one of the best anime art I've ever seen. And I can't wait to see it subbed. I think I will go and download it raw if I find it somewhere. *nosebleed*
katikat: (Default)
Last night, I had a weird dream - but a kinda cool one too. I dreamed about Saiyuki. Yup, you heard right. The four boys were in a kinda creepy haunted house. And there was this ghost who caused Hakkai a head injury and made him turn against the other, especially Gojyo... It was really cool. But I don't know how it ended because the postman rang at our door and woke me up X( Darn it!

I finished reading the 1st volume of the Earthian manga this morning. It's really cool. And now, the OVAs make much more sense. In the anime, Chihaya seems to be rather selfish and self-centered. But when you read the manga, you find out that it's not true. There isn't a selfish bone in his body. I don't understand why Kouga chose those chapters for the OVAs. I would have much preferred the story about how Chihaya and Kagetsuya met or Archangel Seraphim's story. And let me tell you that Raphael and Michael are hot! Can't wait for the next volume to arrive *bounces*

And I watched the latest ep of Meine Liebe Wieder last night. Wow! It's getting better and better. This season is so good. I like it that there are arcs about each of the boys. The first season was all about Orphe, but now we know much more about Ed and Camus... and I heard that the next arc will be about Naoji (I hope that's not considered a spoiler). And now, my fingers are fairly twitching to write some stories for this anime. I mean, gorgeous boys, great plot, lotsa angst... Just throw them together in one bed and you have everything a yaoi fangirl could wish for!

Oh! [livejournal.com profile] castalie! The CDs are here. Thank you so so much! *smooches* I will watch it and tell you how I like it, okie? ;)
katikat: (Default)
Last night, I watched the first episode of Ergo Proxy. It was... different. Action, dark, dark stuff, robots, unpleasant future, a very strong female character... It's definitely different from other anime that appear these days and that are all light colors and simple design. Don't take me wrong, this anime is wonderfully drawn and the plot snatches you from the very first minute. It's definitely a keeper and I can't wait to watch the next episode!

Shinigami's Ballad on the other hand... It appears to be a less violent, less dark but just as sad clone of Jigoku Shoujo. There is no revenge but every episode tells the viewers a story about two characters and one of them dies at the end of course. The main character is the White Shinigami who cries for her victims because they can't cry anymore since they are dead. I'm not sure if I will follow this one. As I said, it reminds me too much of Jigoku Shoujo. It's one thing when there are two very similar mecha-anime but two anime of this sort... I don't know.

Anime Again

My dear friends, is there anybody on my flist who would have the first two Saiyuki seasons on CDs and would be willing to share some eps with me? I tried to re-burn this anime from CDs to DVDs and found out that some eps don't work. For Saiyuki Reload, I found the torrents but for the first two series - zip, nada. Would someone be willing to help me? Thank you, Sharon :)

And I think that the new anime Shinigami's Ballad could be interesting in a cute/sad/dreamy way. The Promo can be found here.

Still enjoying Kage Kara Mamoru and Magikano too. In the latter, first dark hints appear among all the comedy... Interesting.

Tonight, I re-watched the anime Saint Beast. I loved it very much, though there are some things that really miff me:

a) that the anime has only 6 eps
b) that the authors brought in these dumb girl characters in the 5th ep; come on, all the girls could do was yell and almost faint every time they got themselves into a dangerous situation
c) that it was never explained why Yuda and Kira actually rebelled against the God; I mean, it's pretty obvious that they are good-hearted angels, just mightily pissed ones.

But the scenes with Yuda and Shin were gorgeous. Especially the one where Yuda kissed Shin's finger to heal his cut... Lovely and so yaoish :D
katikat: (Default)
I finally caught up on Noein. The latest ep made me cry though. I suspected that something like that would happen, that there wouldn't be a happy end for the two friends, but this... when it looked like everything would work out... I hate when something like that happens in the moment when everything seems to be okay again. :( I just hope that the series will have a happy end *crosses fingers*

And Shakugan no Shana. Another anime that made me cry. The second ep? I mean... Wah! :( I like Sakai very much, how he doesn't mind that he will disappear one day but it makes him very unhappy that nobody will remember that he even existed. That's so sad :( But the series is great. I love the fight scenes. Hehe, and there is the weird guy who loves to play with dolls *g* A great anime!

Prince of Tennis! LMAO! Prince of Bowling. Fuji fainted in such a lovely way... And Tezuka having nightmares about his team :)) The poor guys. Inui and his juice - even he can't drink it. And Oishi loves bowling! He looked so cool with his glove. The little devil. I loved the chibi scene in which the cops came and tied up Eiji. That was my favorite one. He looked so confused, the poor chibi! I'm still enjoying this anime very much! :)

Is it just me or is everything in Sousei no Aquarion about sex? I mean, m/m, f/m, f/f, you name it, it's there. That's one weird anime, I tell ya *shakes her head*

Did AnimeKraze give up on KKM? Feels like it. That's why I'm downloading the raws. I understand bits and pieces and at least I see what's going on. Looks like the next ep will be a big one for Wolfram. Finally. I love to see our blondie in distress. And I'm happy that at least at the very end of the series, he turned into something more than a pretty background picture.

And it really surprised me how much I like Paradise Kiss. Not enough to buy the manga but I can't wait for the last ep to be subbed. I wonder if Caroline and George will have their happy end or not. That series is different from what we usually see in anime and that surprised me in a very pleasant way.

But in Gilmore Girls I'm starting to hate the fact that Luke still didn't tell Lorelai. It was he who insisted that they had tell each other everything. And now this! Argh! Sometimes, I really hate men! :(

Oh, and I made my first .gif icon! *points* Taken from Shakugan no Shana. When I saw the flame, I knew I had to turn in into an icon. The quality is nothing much, but I'm slowly getting the hang of it!

*bounces of to eat more pineapple and oranges*

Shuffle

Jan. 12th, 2006 06:37 pm
katikat: (Default)
Last night, I finished watching Shuffle!. You know, at first, this anime seemed like another "harem" anime as they call it - one boy and a dozen dumb girls. It was a comedy with no actual story... But then, as the plot progressed, it got deeper and deeper. The very painful past of all the characters was revealed and suddenly, no one looked so bouncy or dumb anymore. And the last episode... wow, that really surprised me. I mean, have you seen any other anime where SPOILERS ). Shocking, truly shocking.

I'm happy that I decided to keep watching this series even though it seemed rather dumb at first. Great!
katikat: (Default)
"On that ordinary day, I found out that I was dead." That's the tragic discovery Sakai Yuji makes on his way home from school. Being almost devoured by a monster looking like a giant doll doesn't help his mood either. And then there is this girl with a sword who almost cut him in half, then glued him back together. Obviously, this is not another ordinary day.

I downloaded and watched the first episode of Shakugan no Shana and I truly loved it. It reminded me a lot of Bleach and Noein at the same time. The fact that the story begins with the main hero being actually dead is kinda new and original - at least to me. There are monsters, sword fighting, evil dolls... This one is definitely a keeper!

I have been trying to put some order in the tons of CDs and DVDs that I have. I'm slowly, very slowly digging my way through the heaps and piles of CDs and it looks like there went something ka-boom in my room these days. CDs and cake boxes everywhere. And my mum is just rolling her eyes thinking me a weirdo :D Yeah, that's MY ordinary day ;)

And a question: Are you faithful to a certain subbing group when you download anime? I usually just download the first version that appears, no matter who the subber is. There is only one series where I keep downloading from one source - Lunar and their Bleach. But that's just because I'm way behind in this series so I don't mind waiting for new eps to appear. What about you? *curious*
katikat: (Default)
I finally finished watching Samurai Champloo! Wow, the ending was... wow. I loved the scene between Mugen and Jin --> Jin: "Take care of Fuu."; Mugen: "You better not get killed." *squee* That one made my heart melt. I could so see a Fuu/Mugen/Jin threesome. And how Jin admitted that he considered the two of them friends :D And Mugen's "I don't feel like killing you." attitude! Excellent! *bounces*

Caught up on GunXSword. This is a weird one but it's finally starting to make sense to me. Although I don't understand the attitude of the Original pilots. And poor poor Wendy. But most of all, I love the blond brothers! The younger one is still all baby-fat, but the older one is so cool! Kinda nutty in the head and rather maniacal but cool :D I hope that Shinsen will sub more eps soon.

I downloaded and watched the first episode of Fate/stay Night. Wow, the first episode and we already had a mass murder and an explosion. And it's wonderfuly drawn, just the way I like it. This one looks rather interesting. Magic in the present times, fighting, little evil girls *eg* Cool! :)

I decided to download Suzuka. I tried one episode and it looks rather interesting in the "slice-of-life" kinda way. No fighting or action whatsoever but it caught my attention.

Karin is also getting better and better. It's still funny, but I can feel the deeper, sad undertones there too. Anju's relationship with her sister is simply touching. And their older bro is so protective of them, even though he grumbles all the time. I love it!

And I finally caught up on all the eps of Prince of Tennis I had at home. Ep 75 was the last one I had. As a devoted Tezuka fan, I could only cry, really (please, tell me that he will come back soon *hopeful eyes*). But Tezuka is a great captain and I love the relationship he has with Oishi. I think I like the two together better than Oishi and Eiji. Don't know why. I mean, when Tezuka got hurt, Oishi crying out "TEZUKA!!!"... that just got me, really. And I'm already getting withdrawal sings. This anime just gets under your skin like no other.

I'm slowly catching up on all the anime I watch. Unfortunately, I have to study for my state exam that I have in three weeks. But I just can't concentrate on it. I feel all jittery and full of nervous energy. And if that wouldn't be enough, I'm translating Fiona McIntosh's "Myrren's Gift" at the mo. Folks who read that book can tell you that it's not one that could put you in a good mood. It's a tear-jerker all the way. So, I decided to stop translating it until I finish studying what I need for the exam. It's just too distracting :(

Off to watch more anime!
katikat: (Default)
I finally caught up on Blood+, but to be honest, I'm getting fed up with Saya's "Eee, I can't fight" attitude. People around her are getting killed and she cowers in the corner, whimpering, although before she has promised to help. I hate female characters like that X(

And I decided to try and download the Shurato anime that's being subbed right now. It's an old one (1989) and has the old "drop into another world" plot but this time, the main charas are male so...

Still high on PoT *g* That sounds devious. Prince of Tennis is like an addiction. It gets under your skin and refuses to leave you alone. And after speculating about Tezuka with [livejournal.com profile] michalyn, my head is full of annoyingly bouncy bunnies :D
katikat: (Default)
Anime Watching: Let me say one thing: Jin with his hair down! *squee* Yup, still watching Samurai Champloo, although I did find out that two episodes don't work on the cds I have. But the series is really good. I especially like the two-parter about the blind assassin. How desperate Mugen was to find Jin *sigh* And I love how the authors mix homosexuality and its historical meaning in. I love it :)

Movie Watching: I finally watched Latter Days and oh my gosh, that must be one of the most beautiful and powerful gay movies ever. The sex scene is... so full of feelings and Aaron and Chris are simply great together. I loved it. LOVED IT!

TV Series: I can't wait to see this week's episode of Smallville because of the whole SPOILERS ) I just hope that I will be able to download it before I have to pack my things and run to the railway station.

Other Stuff: I decided it was time to have a Starsky and Hutch icon. This series is... simply stunning. I have loved it for years and now I'm desperately seeking someone who would have it saved on their computer and would be willing to share *hinthint* I've been trying to download some eps via emule but there are only few sources. And since I can't keep downloading through the day, it takes months to download stuff there :(

In two days, I'm off to Germany *bites fingernails*
katikat: (Default)
You know, instead of being a good girl and working on the challenges my friends issued, I watch Samurai Champloo! I'm on episode 11 and so far, it was the best one. Jin and the woman in the brothel. Nekkid Jin was so hot... *sigh* I really really like Jin. And especially his seiyuu. Yummy.

And about the challenges. Angst, that's all I can come up with these days. No matter how hard I try, all I see is angsty Wolfram, angsty Tsuzuki, angsty Iwaki... You see the pattern? A humorous quote from KKM? Angst as a response :( Gyah!

But my muse has struck in another department - pictures. I think I will make another mood theme. This time I will use the Clamp Campus Detectives anime. I have loved the Suoh/Nokoru pairing for years... *happy sigh*
