* It's funny that a Bottom!Dean lover usually finds more Bottom!Sam stories and the other way around. Weird...

* You haven't seen a real Mary-Sue character until you read about the God-sent Mina in "Dragons of a Fallen Sun" by Hickman and Weis. Fanfic readers would rip her to shreds...

* Thanks to the talented ladies who put together a soundtrack for the J2 "Sick 'Verse", I found some great singers like Jack Johnson or Jason Mraz to name just two...

* Why is it that the hottest pairing I can think of for Stargate: Atlantis is Ronon/Dean...?

* I need to write some longer fics and not just drabbles because my GreatestJournal (that I've started using as a fic archive) looks ridiculous...

* Oh man, I so should be in bed *face/keyboard*
katikat: (Default)
So, I tried to write something today. Anything. I have so many ideas. At least one for Chuck and there is this Heroes one in which Matt and Mohinder are in bed together, having hot monkey sex... (come one, these two are so slashy in that domestic kind of way!). But my muse just won't cooperate, the beast! *pouts*

And I have a question or two...

To fanfic readers: When you leave a fic review, what do you write? A simple "Great fic!" or do you list the reasons why you liked the fic?

To fanfic authors: Whe you respond to a review, what do you write? A simple "Thank you!" or do you try to make the response more personal?

I'm still very much in love with the music of Jason Mraz. His songs are so incredibly catchy! *hums*

Still reading "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman. So far, I'm not head over heels with it but it's not bad.

So, Moonlight, the new vampire TV show, a clone of Forever Knight... Lets just say that Jason Dohring's the only saving grace here. I will keep watching but only because of him.

Fic rec:
due South: SLASH --> "True North" by Crysothemis. Fraser/RayK, post-CotW, 75 000 words and angsty Fraser - 'nough said :P During their great adventure, Ray finds out that Fraser is in love with him and reacts badly.

Oh my, The Professionals... Still so much luv for this show! If there was one protective partner, it was Bodie. Huzzah! So many plot bunnies :)

I so want to write something but this weekend, my cousin from Prague's coming over and on the 10th, I'm off to Frankfurt to the Book Fair there with my boss. And until then I need to finish translating "Dragons of a Fallen Sun" *groans*

I'm contemplating choosing one of the tables in the [livejournal.com profile] fanfic100 comm and writing a series of fics with Were!chesters with Sam as the Alpha of a were!pack living in a small town in the mountains... I already have plot bunnies for at least three stories *ponders*

I have a terrible cold and my eyes burn. Ouchie!

I ordered two new jigsaw puzzles, one of them with wolves. Heh! *obsessed*

ETA: Yay, Eureka was renewed for a 3rd season. Hurray!
katikat: (Default)
So, [livejournal.com profile] dinofly is on her way home now and I'm all alone here again *sniff* But we had a great time together and we really need to repeat it soon!

We went to see the movie Stardust. It was okay. Some good scenes. Some great characters. But overall, not really memorable. And definitely not worth buying on DVD :( But what I did buy on DVD was 300! Hurray :D

And we also watched the premiere of the new season of various TV shows... so many thing to write about here...

I will try to catch up on all my friends' LJs too *eyes the skip=whoknowshowmany* And there are so many great new fics to read!

And it's so beautiful outside... *sigh*

Yes, I'm obviously all over the place with my thoughts XD
katikat: (Default)
I should be actually in bed already, so just a quickie!

--> Me and [livejournal.com profile] dinofly are having a great time doing fangirly things *giddy*

--> Today, I received S2 of Supernatural and The Fast and the Furious + 2 Fast 2 Furious on DVD. Huzzah! *even giddier*

--> Reaper premiered at 3.22 mil. viewers, Gossip Girl at 3.65 mil. Lets hope that Supernatural will do better than Reaper but I'm not holding my breath because now, even The Office is lined up in its time slot *sigh*

Tomorrow morning, I'm off to Brno where I'll interpret for the novel author Richard A. Knaak. I haven't read even one of his books. I don't translate his books either... His usual Czech translator wanted too much money, so I "inherited" this job. Oh joy XD But at least I will meet my darling [livejournal.com profile] dinofly again! *hugs*

Ha, only 5 more drabbles and my Theme Table will be finished! *twirls*

And I realized that I didn't have any "female" icons. I really had to rectify that :D
katikat: (Default)
I should be asleep but I'm not. And so I decided to ask my friends a question...

What are your three favorite female characters on TV? In no particular order. Just from the top of your head. Three women that you really like for they are or what they do or how they behave...

For me it's (in no particular order)

Temperance *Bones* Brennan (Bones) )
~*~
Allison Blake (Eureka) )
~*~
Ziva David (NCIS) )

There are many, many more but these came to my mind first because I'm still watching these shows.

What about you, dear friends?
katikat: (Default)
I made a new mood icon set. But I did it the easy way: I have only like 15 mood icons and I let the rest of the moods "inherit" them. I mean, I only use like 20 of them anyway. And I needed a new mood icon set right now. So, Eureka, welcome aboard! :)

I must be mentally challenged but I can't use the "rich text" option on the update page. No way, no how. No matter what I do, it always screws the text. I think I will stay with my manual "a href=..." thingy *nods*

I ordered the two The Fast and the Furious movies from Amazon. I tried to order them from B+N but they refused my credit card telling me that my bank doesn't accept their request or whatever. Funny, just this Monday, Amazon deduced the amount for my Supernatural DVDs from my account just fine. I will see if Amazon has any problems too but nothing happened so far. And I do have enough money in my account before you ask ;D

And I think that the due South fic "Chicago's Most Wanted by Speranza and especially its audio version read by [livejournal.com profile] zabira are the best thing since sliced bread! *nods*
katikat: (Default)
After two years, I finally finished my Gorgeous Carat fic "Innocent Souls". 10 137 words before revision *izdead* You have no idea how relieved I am...

And another drabble for my table finished too. Eureka! And this one is pure crack! Lets just say Carter, Stark and a sewer! XD

I'm so happy that my muse is alive and kickin' once more!
katikat: (Default)
My little 25 fandoms project... 4 drabbles done - fandoms used: Heroes, Charmed, Psych and The Fast and the Furious - 21 drabbles to do...

Could some English speaking person please explain the difference between the words SPIRIT and PHANTOM to me?

And out of curiosity - does the Impala have a bench seat in the front or two separate seats? I've seen it used both ways in fics...

And I apologize for not replying much to my friends' entries these days. After translating for hours and then working in the garden, I'm dead in the evening when I finally have the time to read my LJ. But I do follow your LJ, folks *hugs friends* I will try to do better in the future :)

Mpreg

You know, surfing the del.ico.us bookmarks, I realized that there is a disturbingly large number of Harry Potter mpreg fics out there. I'm sure that it means something, that it says something about the fans but I'm not really sure what *scratched head, amused*

And lets not forget the Stargate: Atlantis mpreg fics... Shep/McKay pairing to that X)

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm NOT saying that mpreg is bad/wrong/disgusting/ridiculous/etc. I've written some mpreg stories myself. But the sheer amount of mpreg fics in these two fandoms is astounding!

And since we are already talking about Stargate: Atlantis... There must be some fans of SG:A on my flist, right? Can you tell me why you read fanfiction for this series? What makes it so interesting and good? I would really and honestly like to know because I'm obviously missing a lot of fun!

You see, I like SG:A. It's a good series. But I just can't see myself reading fanfiction in this fandom. There are series like that, they are good but I just can't get into the fandom part of the fun. For me, it's for example The Dresden Files, Numb3rs or Heroes. And I do try, I really do. But... *shrugs helplessly*

Oh, and in the SG:A fandom? My pairing would have to include Zelenka. Because Zelenka? He rules! :D
katikat: (Default)
I'm not sure what to think of fanfiction that was at first available for everyone and then the authors f-locked it... Hey, I am NOT saying that it's wrong, it's their God-given right to f-lock whatever they want after all. It's just... I find it rather selfish - selfish on my part, not on theirs - to friend someone only because I want to read their fics, when I'm not interested in them as a person, as a friend. Yes, I'm weird, I know...

I find it funny when the authors of the CW RPS stories always have Eric Kripke hanging around the set in their stories. I mean, he himself says that he spends most of his time in LA and not up there, in Vancouver.

Wall Street Journal Article: Rewriting the Rules of Fiction talks about fan fiction and how the companies owning the characters handle it...

It is a very good article but one thing bothers me - the fact that they specifically select slash and gay relationships between fictional characters in fan fiction as something to be wary of. So, explicit gay fan fiction is not good. Explicit het fan fiction is okay and acceptable... Am I the only one who sees how wrong it is? And terms like the "stigma of slash" don't help either...
katikat: (Default)
Heh, [livejournal.com profile] suzvoy reminded me of how much I used to love the TV series Scarecrow and Mrs King *points at the icon* I mean, Lee and Amanda and their sneaky tactics and covert meetings in the backyard and Amanda's whipped cream killing techniques and and and... This show was made of awesome. I was never interested in reading any fanfics or taking a part in the fandom because the show itself was like one big fanfic - it had everything from international spies to a cute romance between a top spy and a housewife. Amanda with her down to earth common sense reminded me a lot of Shawn from Psych. Maybe that's why I love that show so much :)

Still staying spoiler-free! But [livejournal.com profile] ckll assured me that the spoilers for S3 of Supernatural are GOOD. And that makes me all giddy even though I have no idea what will happen :D

You know what I find really silly? When people post an entry in a comm saying "If it is against the rules, feel free to delete..." *snorts* I mean, the moderator of a comm doesn't need the poster's permission to delete their entry if it isn't appropriate.

You know the archive Fictionised? Two years ago, I became a member of it. Back then, it was an alternative to ff.net after they purged NC-17 stories from their archive. Het and slash fics were permitted. But obviously, during these last two years, they changed their rules and now, they lump slash stories together with bestiality and pedophilia. These stories are not allowed now there:

a) Rape
b) Incest
c) Paedophilia
d) Bestiality
e) Slash or derivations of slash.

I was asked to remove my stories because they border on slash. My reaction?

"I'm asking you to delete my account immediately - I would do it myself but I don't know how. I have no desire to stay a member of a community that compares gay relationships to bestiality or pedophilia. I've been a member of your archive for more than two years and now, I'm ashamed of it!"

The admin was really surprised how I came to think that they compare slash to bestiality. I pointed her to their own rules. Obviously, they are convinced that slash means NC-17. Obviously, they think that every gay relationship is NC-17 and unsuitable for children.

I'm not sorry to leave that archive. I can understand why ff.net banned NC-17 stories. Banning slash fully is homophobic and retarded and I refuse to support it!

ETA: Okay, according to them, homosexuality has no place in a family friendly place. I feel like crying from frustration.

Okay, I have a new layout. There was nothing wrong with the old one and I still really loved it but I felt like I needed something brand new. And here it is :D

And this is the screen-cap of my computer's new wallpaper. Isn't Jensen like really awesome and hot? :D

I simply love the [livejournal.com profile] newbieguide comm. So many fandoms with comprehensible lists of links. That makes me very very happy!

And the GIANTmicrobes are so cute that I want to cuddle them. They must be so soft. Aww... Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] dinofly for the link! :)
katikat: (Default)
Me being pissed results in me writing angry emails. This is the email that I sent to MediaMax:

This is the second time I'm writing you asking this question. My previous email went unanswered.

WHEN WILL I BE ABLE TO UPLOAD ANYTHING TO MY ACCOUNT?!

I haven't been able to upload anything at all since July 3rd. None of the files that I had uploaded, appeared in my account. I know that processing can take some time, but 14 days is too much. I have a paid account. But I can't use it because it doesn't work!

When will you make it work? And I hope that you'll reimburse us for this lack of service.

Acct.: katikatnik

I usually try to restrain myself but their unreliability is getting quickly old. If this was a free service, I would let it slide but I paid big bucks for this account.

ETA: Do I drag it with me everywhere or what? I tried to sign up for goodreads and received: An unexpected error occured. We are working on a solution, please check back soon! I mean, this is ridiculous!
katikat: (Default)
First of all - you have to take a look at Demonhunt's Supernatural manipulations! Oh. My. God! The manips are amazing!

Second - take a look at this: Scandinavian Hunks! *drools*

Off to work :)
katikat: (Default)
I'm still staying away from any spoiler whatsoever. My fingers fairly itch to click on the "spoiler" links my flist keeps posting but I'm trying to stay strong and approach the new seasons, especially Supernatural, with an open mind. Though it's so hard...

What's up with all the "thank you" entries in the comments sections of various download sites? I thought that these should be used for alerting people of damaged files. With all the ridiculous thanking, it's hard to find out if there is actually anything wrong with the file.

I decided not to post any more fiction on my web site. I won't delete it but I think I will let it die a slow death. I know that some of the stories posted there haven't been posted anywhere else, but it feels much cozier (and more convenient) to post fics only here in my LJ.

My fingers itch to buy more manga. I'm so behind in the series that I buy that it's not even funny! So many good ones are coming out these days... *starry eyed*
