Shadowhunters had a panel at WonderCon yesterday and they showed a clip from the upcoming episode called Malec. And this is the "Malec Song" - every couple on the show seems to have "their song" that plays during their first kiss. They're all by Ruelle and this one's called "War of Hearts". Gosh, the lyrics...

Come to me
In the night hours
I will wait for you
And I can’t sleep
Cause thoughts devour
Thoughts of you consume

I can't help but love you
Even though I try not to
I can't help but want you
I know that I'd die without you

Stay with me a little longer
I will wait for you
Shadows creep
And want grows stronger
Deeper than the truth

It's so... Malec! \o/ Cannot wait for the episode!

This is such a wonderful song, my favorite Xmas song ever, hands down. I love that it actually tells a real story, it's not just words strung together to rhyme.

This is one of the most beautiful piano pieces that I've ever heard, Chord Left by Agnes Obel. It's... wow, just... wow. I've been listening to it on repeat and I can't seem to get enough. Breathtaking.

This had me bawling so hard my head started aching...

It's been a long day without you my friend
And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
We've come a long way from where we began
Oh I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
When I see you again

The rest of it cut... )

I'm spending very little time on LJ/DW these days because I'm still on my Cobra 11 trip and I know that nobody here's interested in it, so posting about it here would be an exercise in futility. I'm over on Twitter most of the time because I found friends all over the world over there who love Cobra 11 just as much as I do. (And I'm mostly avoiding Tumblr because I have it UP HERE with the whining, bitching babies over there!).

But, I found songs from Tom Beck's new album, So wie es ist, over on YT. Tom Beck played Ben Jäger in Cobra 11, still my favorite of Semir's partners. Then he left to start a career as a musician, both the character and the actor, and he became quite popular in Germany. This is his first album in German - the previous two were in English - and it's the best yet! Listen:

The song's only 3:20 long, no idea why there's so much empty space at the end. Great song, my favorite on the album!

I haven't seen Mockingjay yet - hopefully, next weekend! *crosses fingers* - but I had to listen to this song. Wow. It gives me goosebumps and I literally tear up listening to it, the way it builds and builds and builds, Jennifer Lawrence's voice... I can't wait to see it!

As far as modern music and less known artists go, the best shows to introduce them are, IMHO, Teen Wolf and The Originals. Thanks to them, I've come across so many new artists and bands and songs that have become my favorites...

Like Ruu Campbell and his song The Call, introduced on TW:

Or Snow Ghosts and Hunted, on TW, too:

Or Hozier and his Arsonist's Lullabye, both on TW and TO:

TW used this song in its S4 finale, once the bad guys were defeated and everybody was exhausted and hurt, standing around the destroyed church. But I think TO used it much more effectively, in the scene where Klaus thanked Marcel for helping him and everybody was safe and sound - and then Hayley came in and told Klaus that they had another problem... cut to Elijah, bloodied and bound and held captive. Now THAT was an awesome cut, especially with this music!

And then there was the song I linked yesterday, London Grammar's The Devil Inside. SHEESH! \o/

Yeah, as far as music goes, these two shows make me very, VERY happy!

Wow!

So, there's this piece, The Death Waltz, composed by John Stump. It was written as a joke but people still tried and keep trying to play it on the piano.

If you look at the linked music sheet, you will see why it's an impossible piece to play. But people still wanted to know how it would sound. So, they let it run through a computer program called Synthesia, and this is the result:

Wow, just... wow!

If you're interested, you can listen to John Paesano's The Maze Runner soundtrack for free here: link. Epic music!

You know what they are looking for, right? )

Oh my, Scott and Stiles... I really hope that fanfic authors pick it up and run with it. Because, I shipped them hard before, but now? Sheesh on a pogo stick! But even as gen, there's so much stuff to explore!!!

Next week's promo:

Tyler Posey's favorite scene! The swords in the rain!!! \o/

And a sneak peek:

And the song that played in 318, when they found out the truth, Ruu Campbell's The Call:

Remembering the scene, I have tears in my eyes just hearing it...

Revelation by Dino Meneghin. It was used several times during Teen Wolf's S3A. In 306, in the suicide scene. In 311, when Scott, Stiles and Allison sacrificed themselves for their parents. And in 312, when they discovered the Nemeton. It's so beautiful. Like Hans Zimmer's OSTs beautiful. Just wow...

Favorite song featured in an episode: I actually have two...

Gabriel Bruce's Sleep Paralysis from episode 306, Motel California. This one I love because a) it's a great song in general and b) Gabriel Bruce has a fantastic voice.

Snow Ghost's Hunted from episode 316, Illuminated. That one I adore for its lyrics that eerily fit Stiles' crumbling state of mind, perfectly chosen!

The Song!

The song that played during the last scene on Teen Wolf last night is called "The Hunted" by Snow Ghosts. And wow, just... wow, the lyrics fit so incredibly well, it's pretty much what Stiles is going through, isn't it?

You wandered through the willows, in the forest you were found
Trying to hide your footprints in the ground
It’s not so wise, if you try to run
It’s not so wise, you know I’ve won, you know I’ve won
And you’ll smile, on your knees
The Hunter becomes... the hunter becomes the hunted
The Hunter becomes the hunted...

I live in Central Europe and there's a storm front raging outside, the Germans gave it the name Xaver. I hate storms. I hate strong winds. I hate pouring rain. I'll have to use earplugs tonight again or I won't sleep at all. Luckily my doctor gave me pills to keep my heart-rate down, perfect for an occasion like this.

And I used another thing to calm down: Ed Sheeran's wonderful song "I See Fire", The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug's theme song. It's beautiful and haunting, and I have had it on repeat for hours now. Truly wonderful. Listen to it with headphones on!

The lyrics are also amazing... )

Beautiful, IMHO, very... mellow. I like it better every time I listen to it. The same thing happened to me with The Song of the Lonely Mountain.
katikat: (F_Hobbit)

A strange thing happened. When I first listened to The Hobbit OST, I liked it but except for the Misty Mountains song, I didn't find it all that memorable. But the more I listened to it, the more I loved the OST in general and The Song of the Lonely Mountain in particular. Especially once I really started listening, following the lyrics. I especially love this part:

Some folk we never forget
Some kind we never forgive
Haven’t seen the back of us yet
We’ll fight as long as we live
All eyes on the hidden door
To the Lonely Mountain borne
We’ll ride in the gathering storm
Until we get our long-forgotten gold

And this, this very sentiment is why I like The Hobbit much more than The Lord of the Rings trilogy. In LotR, the halflings and the dwarves just didn't speak to me. Frodo and Sam were sweet but Merry and Pippin? Gimli? Mostly comic relief. Or painfully idiotic. With some great development, true, but it didn't change my first impression of them. But in The Hobbit...

For the first time, I saw the halflings and dwarves as, well, people with ambitions, daily struggles, with friends and enemies, people who felt betrayal as deeply as anyone else. The movie made the dwarves three-dimensional, fighting for their right, heroic people but also vain and short-tempered.

And Bilbo... I guess I didn't like the halflings in LotR much because the actors didn't do much for me. Good actors, don't get me wrong, but I didn't know them before - only Sean Astin did I see in something else - nor did I feel like following their career after. But Martin Freeman... He's one of my favorite actors and his Bilbo is... never too earnest, never too much of a comic relief, never too much of a chicken. He's a normal person and he plays the part beautifully.

So yeah, in LotR, there were places that felt... empty to me - Faramir and his daddy issues, come to my mind - but The Hobbit I adored as a whole, the story and all the characters, whether we followed Bilbo, Thorin and his gang or Gandalf, everyone's arc was fascinating and captivating.

And basically this song, The Song of the Lonely Mountain, with its melody and lyrics, embodies my love for the movie!

Music Vid

Even though I didn't like FF6 as much as FF5, the soundtrack is still rockin' awesome. Especially the title song, We Own It by 2 Chainz and Wiz Khalifa. And the fact that the production team made an official music vid to go with it... Awesome! I hope they will use it in FF7 too, this kind of montage!
katikat: (Hannibal_WillAsleep)
Did you know that Hannibal has an official tumblr where they post links to music they use in their episodes? It's here: link.

And that reminds me - remember this scene?

Just, the way they were looking at each other... And the music that was playing? Patria oppressa from Verdi's Macbeth. Incredible! I can't stop re-watching it... *_*

On Jan. 15 2013, Last.fm is ending its global subscription service. From that point on, it will be available to the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil and Germany only. Even before, it was available only as a paid service worldwide - but they are ditching that now too. Well, that's just great. What a wonderful Xmas gift, Last.fm! Just... go and screw a donkey.

So, any alternatives for a streaming radio, peeps? I like Sky.fm but their selection is rather small, when you listen to it the whole day long, you notice that the same songs come up pretty often. A good alternative but not a great one.

I like Musicovery because it allows you to not only stream your favorite musician's "radio" - meaning similar artists - it also lets you play music according to your mood, you just set it up and it chooses the songs for you. But... the stream cuts off from time to time. I guess it's because I have Ad-Block Plus installed and it cuts out the ads, thus it drops the whole stream. Once my Last.fm subscription runs out on Dec. 31, I will get a Musicovery paid account, I guess, just for a month or so to see how it works.

Any other alternatives? I need music only, no babbling mods because I stream it while working and I need to concentrate.
