So, the ratings for the first two eps of SGU's S2 are in...

201: 1.18 mil., 0.5 demo
202: 1.07 mil., 0.5 demo

And I feel like spitting nails, peeps. Remember SGA? Doing 1.6 mil. on average in their fifth season? When it got canceled? When we were told that if the ratings were good, the show would be still on air? And it was replaced with... with... that?!

*deep breath* I'm so angry right now, I'm seeing red!

Seriously?

Day 24 - Best quote:

"It's a city, not a yo-yo."
~ Rodney McKay, SGA

Rodney McKay was a walking, breathing well of hilarious quotes - as my icon proves - but this one floored me! XD

Day 12 - An episode you’ve watched more than 5 times:

Seriously, I re-watch episodes all the time, so I can't really say that there's only one or two, so completely at random:

Supernatural - Dead in the Water - the first episode where we see that Dean's not just a womanizer and a goof.
Stargate: Atlantis - Echoes - John and Rodney's bickering is top-notch perfect in this one, just like the scene where they are both deaf, ha!
White Collar - Out of the Box - what a fast-paced finale and the interaction between Peter and Neal's priceless! And Neal's sculpting - shirtless! \o/

Day 10 - A show you thought you wouldn’t like but ended up loving:

Stargate: Atlantis. You see, I used to be a huge fan of SG-1 - I still am a big fan but, well, I've moved on to SGA - and even though I loved SGA's pilot, the team didn't really click for me. Why? Because of Ford. Sorry, but I just didn't like him at all, he disrupted the... team chemistry, IMHO. But then they dropped him and replaced him with Ronon Dex and OH, MAMA! \o/ The show CLICKED and I fell for it so hard! *pets DVDs*

Right now, with the shows that are still on air, I'm contemplating giving another chance to Burn Notice, Fringe and True Blood...

... go screw yourself, Big Finish. I have loyally bought their audio dramas, SGA and SG-1. But this year, it's basically, "oh, it'll be all SG-1, no SGA stories, pft - but you'll get SG-1!"

Seriously, I love Daniel, I really do, but I'm first and foremost an SGA fan! I'm getting sick of everybody dropping SGA in favor of SG-1 and SGU. On TV, it's only SGU now, no movies at all for SGA. Franchise? Let's see - comic books: SG-1 only, audiobooks: SG-1 only, books: in the last year? SG-1 and SGU only. So yeah, no SGA whatsoever anywhere.

I do like SG-1 but I'm starting to hate in on principle.

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] country_bee:

Day 01 - A show that should have never been canceled:

Stargate: Atlantis, hands down! Man, I haven't been that upset about a show's cancellation since... The Sentinel and The Magnificent Seven! I mean, I know that the writers pretty much fucked up the 2nd half of S5 and I would fire every one of them for the godawful McKay/Keller pairing, but even S5.1 had some terrific episodes, like The Prodigal or Vegas that reminded me of just how much I still loved the show!

Which reminds me - I hope that Fandemonium moves their collective butt and actually publishes the "SGA: Legacy" series, SGA's S6. From what I've been reading in [livejournal.com profile] jo_graham's LJ, it'll be rocking awesome!

WTF!

I haven't posted anything SGA related in a while now - what with the show canceled and Fandemonium's inability to cough out even one book per year - but this... This raised my hackles.

I was reading #stargate related tweets on Twitter and I came across someone saying, how unfortunate it was that SGU decided to take the military vs. civilians route - but then, that was what Stargate had always been about.

WTF! No, really - WTF?!

That's definitely not what Stargate's been about. SG-1 to some extent, yes. But SGA? Not since early S1. Then never again. Especially not with the Atlantis crew - some outsiders tried to impose their rules, but the "Atlanteans" always went their own way. Sheppard and McKay always worked together and they always made sure that both sides respected each other. When McKay pointed out something, Sheppard never dismissed him for being a civilian! For being a hypochondriac worrywart sure, but never for being a civilian!

So, seriously - WTF! Wow, I haven't been this pissed off in ages now!

Wow!

According to JustJared, they're considering Jared Padalecki for the role of the new Conan? Wow. I mean, he's tall enough and pretty butch these days but Conan? I'm not sure I can see him in that part. On the other hand, I had my doubts about Daniel Craig as Bond and now I love him as 007. Still, I would prefer to see Jason Momoa as Conan. Boy, he would be awesome and on SGA, he has already proven that he can swing a sword like nobody's business!

Ah, the good old days of S1, when there was no shipping on-screen and everybody was having fun, exploring the new galaxy and kicking Wraith-butt! I watched it with my mom this time because I needed to show her the glory of McKay and Sheppard (then I put on Echoes :P).

This episode, this was true scifi! The perfect pilot with a lot of action and fun, with a story that made me want to see more. This is what I miss in the scifi shows these days when every writer/exec feels the need to be gritty and dark and do "art" *snorts* Please, give me explosions and space fights any day, that's why it's called SCIFI, after all. I don't need soap opera in space!

My favorite parts? Everything before they went to Teyla's planet - the whole beginning is one awesome, hilarious pile of happy goo! - and then Sheppard flooring McKay with his math knowledge! Yes, Rodney, there ARE military guys who aren't stupid, go figure!

That was what always bothered me about Jack O'Neill, the writers just made him too stupid/ignorant, whereas Sheppard's intelligence is Mensa-level high and he's not afraid to use it and play geeky with the other geeks. I think that that's one of the reasons why he's the perfect commander for a more or less civilian outpost like Atlantis - he does not bully the scientists, he geeks out together with them!

My favorite quotes? )

I love the show like crazy! \o/

Oh, Echoes, how I love thee! \o/ This is one of the eps where I feel the team love strongest. And of course, it was written by Carl Binder, the master of cheerful team!eps! John and Rodney and the whales, Ronon and Teyla and their meditation... Sweet! I want to squeeze the ep silly! I mean, not only did we get a real sci-fi plot, we got to explore Lantea a bit and there was adventure and humor and h/c and exploring and... Yes, I'm very, very, VERY much in love with this episode!

My favorite quotes, let me show them to you... )

Yes, many, many quotes. Rodney's all riled up, John's all sarcastic - I loved it when he called Rodney first Meredith, then later on a pigeon! - Teyla is so cute and zen and Ronon all gruff and caring! I just have such insane love for this episode! \o/

I want to marathon my favorite episodes of Stargate Atlantis once I finish Jeeves and Wooster. I decided to limit it to five and those would be (in no particular order):

1. Inferno
2. Echoes
3. The Ark
4. Outcast
5. The Prodigal

All team episodes with the exception of Outcast, which John/Ronon pure (well, with a side dish of McShep at the very beginning).

And what are your Top 5 eps? Would you be willing to marathon them with me so that we could squee together once more?

You know, I've been thinking of why I feel no desire to watch SGU. I mean, the inept TPTB turned SGA into a carbon copy of SG-1 later on, replicators and Asgards included, and I still loved the show to pieces, even more than SG-1. So it can't be just the fact that SGU is BSG with a gate slapped on it. But I think, I think it's... brand fatigue for me.

For fourteen years they've been churning out gate stories now, the same producers, the same writers - and I loved SG-1 and I loved SGA (even though I still can't forgive the writers for the 2nd half of S5!). But SGU is just... too much. If they continued SGA I would have gobbled it with a spoon but SGU? It's like getting a third variation of flavor of your favorite cookie - and it just doesn't taste right anymore, especially when everybody's telling you that there must be something wrong with you if you prefer the old flavor...

SGU doesn't feel like a new series, more like a remake of an old one that wasn't hip anymore. You see, I loved the old BSG that was about adventure and friendship and family. The new BSG, though critically acclaimed felt... wrong with its darkness and despair. And SGU gives me the same feeling.

Of course, the fact that I don't like any of the characters or the actors is a big part of it, too.

NCIS: Los Angeles and The Good Wife get full season pick-ups - how awesome is that? Lotsa, I know. Sam and G.! *vbg*

Stargate assailant gets 5 years in jail:

A Los Angeles judge Wednesday sentenced Dominic Bando to five years in prison for assaulting Stargate Atlantis actor Jason Momoa, officials said.

Momoa needed 140 stitches after Bando hit him in the face with a pint beer glass that shattered during an altercation at the Bird Cafe in Los Angeles last year.

Wow, assault with a deadly weapon. No wonder since Jason needed 140 stitches! Sheesh!

Fandemonium pushed back SGA's "Brimstone" yet again *sigh* It's now more than 6 months removed from its original due date. So, the new schedule is:

Nov. 2009 - SGA 12 - Chris Wraight's "Dead End"
Feb. 2010 - SGA 13 - David Niall Wilson and Patricia Macomber's "Brimstone"
Apr. 2010 - SGA 14 - Aaron Rosenberg's "Hunt and Run"
May 2010 - SG-1 15 - Steven Savile's "The Power Behind the Throne"
June 2010 - SG-1 16 - Diana Botsford's "Four Dragons"
July 2010 - SGA 15 - Jo Graham's "Death Game"

And I'm sure that they won't keep this schedule either. I mean, I work in the publishing industry and its fantasy/urban fantasy/scifi branch so I understand delays - but from a fan's POV? They are immensely frustrating!

~ Sam/Dean aka Wincest (Supernatural) - yes, I do love them so, despite and maybe because of them being brothers. I'm fascinated by their relationship in Wincest fics. What makes siblings do it, cross the taboo and become lovers? The Winchesters are the only brothers that I ship, though. I wouldn't ship any brothers just for the sake of it, there has to be some way/reason/chemistry/something - and the Winchesters' totally fucked up relationship is IT (and I hope that we will get to see it soon in the show again!)

~ Jared/Jensen aka the J2 (RPS) - the only real people slash that I read. And Jared and Jensen love to play it up for the fangirls, don't they? ;)

~ Rodney/John aka McShep (Stargate: Atlantis) - come on, those two bickered, fought side by side, they understood each other perfectly and they were totally immune to each other's quirks... Heck, they raced toy cars together in Atlantis' abandoned hallways! Sheesh. If there ever was someone with whom Rodney McKay totally clicked, it was John Sheppard :)

~ Dominic Torreto/Brian O'Conner (Fast and Furious) - those two in one room? Scorching hot! It's rare to see actors with such chemistry. When they look at each other, they really ~look~, nothing else exists. The way Brian follows Dom with his eyes, the way Dom smiles fondly at Brian...

~ Casey McCall/Dan Rydell (Sports Night) - those two are... I mean, they simply... Casey is a jerk, but he chose Dan over his wife. Danny is one huge mess balancing on the verge of mental breakdown most of the time - but he's also funny and cute and just there for Casey. And it's too bad that there aren't more fics in this fandom *pouts*

What's your favorite slash pairings?

"It's a city, not a yo-yo!" ~ Rodney McKay, Stargate: Atlantis, Siege III

If I could choose only one quote out of the whole series, this would be it. It embodies everything I love about SGA. This quote ~is~ Stargate: Atlantis - at least for me ;)

CBR spoke to Brandon Jerwa and Doug Murray about the Stargate comics:

The SGA part under cut... )

I'm glad that Doug Murray wants to keep Sheppard and McKay as the central characters. They, their relationship was what drew me to this series. I mean, Sheppard was McKay's first real friend, probably the first military guy McKay met that wasn't dumb and I loved it when Sheppard's insight threw Rodney totally out of the loop! The MENSA scene still gives me the giggles! I loved when they were finishing each other's sentences, when they shared a look and knew what the other one was thinking!

The funniest part of the article? "I get into the relationship between Rodney and Keller, and the one between Sheppard and Ronon." Does Murray realize how that sounds? Talking in one breath about McKeller and Sheppard and Ronon... He makes it sound like John and Ronon are a couple too! *sigh* I wish...

I really hope that Amazon will offer the comic books! *crosses fingers* I need them! And they'll be out in October already!
