Day 11: Character you like with several others

Vin Tanner, The Magnificent Seven

My #1 pairing in Mag7 is Chris/Vin but I'll take pretty much anyone/Vin, even Ezra - though I never understood the fandom's obsession with him *shrugs* My secret - or not so secret! - kink is Josiah/Vin. With Chris and Vin, it's the partnership of equals, even the gen fics in this fandom are slashy when it comes to these two, I mean, even the gen authors acknowledge the depth of their bond. With Josiah and Vin... it's the size-difference kink for me.

If I should rec one Vin centric fic, it would be the Josiah/Vin story "Torques" by Farad. It's an AU set in the Escort 'verse and it's rather dark, dub-connish even. But awesome!

Obsession: I'm glad that, before the show was canceled, the writers were smart enough to answer the main question: Who killed Chris' wife and son. I so didn't expect it to be someone like that.

But what was most memorable about the whole thing? That it lead to the first severe conflict between Chris and Vin. It started with Chris' decision to stay with Ella - man, Vin was so angry! His expression, his head shake... And I can't believe that Chris didn't trust Vin. His "I'll forget you said that" was... ouch! Vin's face. I so cringed when he told Chris that in that case, he would be leaving in the morning. Ouch, ouch, ouch! But he did come back and he got so angry when Chris was shot. But their last talk... I still had the feeling that Vin was mighty pissed at Chris. If Chris hadn't been so blind, they wouldn't have gotten almost killed, all of them!

I now understand why there are so many Chris&Vin codas to this ep, Chris ruffled Vin's feathers pretty good. Of the six, I think Vin was the most furious. Never, NEVER before had Chris doubted his word. And then he chose Ella over him, even if just for a moment. I think it broke something between them. After all, Vin was the only one who wanted to leave...

And Buck's romance with Hilda was so sweet... What he told her before she died, I actually had tears in my eyes...

One thing, though - why was Mary so pissed? It felt like Chris' decision somehow personally affronted her. Why? He has never shown her more than a passing interest, even congratulated her on her engagement. Why was she pissed at him? I just can't imagine these two as a couple.

I'm done watching Mag7 - and I feel all kinds of crushed. It's such an amazing little show, I could start watching it from the beginning again.

For those, who have never seen the show, here are at least the opening credits: link.

My favorite scenes were with Chris&Vin and Buck&JD, the actors and the characters clicked perfectly. I was glad that the show wasn't all doom and gloom, in every episode there was humor that balanced out the grimness...

I'm actually glad that the show didn't have a proper ending. Because there was only one way it could've ended - with the seven going their separate ways. And I'm glad we didn't get to see that. As it is, we can imagine them staying together for as long as we want to: weeks, months, years... Their separation was inevitable from the beginning, but we can decide ourselves where they will end.

My perfect ending? Chris and Vin leave together to hunt down Ella Gaines and try to somehow clear Vin's name - I mean, they are the only ones out of the seven with something hanging over their heads. JD marries Casey and becomes a real lawman in Four Corners, together with Buck who wouldn't leave his young friend. Ezra opens a successful establishment in San Francisco and marries Li Pong. Josiah becomes a preacher again, for real, hangs up his colt and all. Nathan marries Raine and becomes the doctor in her village.

My favorite fic genre? Gen, in this case. Mag7 slash is mostly locked in the Blackraptor adult archive, so it's hard to rec. But slashy pairings? Chris/Vin and Josiah/Vin. Yeah, as you may have noticed, I have a weakness for Vin.

And that was my Mag7 marathon... Man, I so want start watching it from the beginning again! *hands*
katikat: (mag7-brown)
Lady Killers: Poor JD. That boy had so much bad luck! First Casey caught him with that crazy lady, then he got shot - by said crazy lady. Oh man, Buck was pissed. So pissed! I loved the scene where he asked the Judge if a rope knew the difference between a woman's neck and a man's - and if he would judge the same. Poor Buck. He blamed himself so much.

It was great that in this episode, Vin and Ezra were the comic relief. I can actually understand why Vin and Ezra are the second most popular pairing in this fandom. They do share some very funny scenes together throughout the series. Poor Vin, got his ribs busted, then he got himself in a very delicate situation with Casey - but at least he had the last laugh when Ezra had to talk himself out of a tight spot with Casey too. Ha!

Serpents: What was wrong with the actress playing Mary in this one? If she had wriggled her butt a bit more, it would've fallen off. Wow, that was some bad acting.

So much temptation - money for Ezra and Josiah and the sharpshooter rifle for Vin. I loved that Josiah gave Ezra the money to prove to him that he couldn't be trusted with it and not because the others didn't trust him where it counted - with their lives - but as you wouldn't give a bottle to an alcoholic, you wouldn't give large amounts of money to Ezra, it was simply a bad idea and everybody knew it. And in the end, Ezra understood it too, that the temptation was simply too much for him, so it was better to remove it from his grasp. But I was glad that he overcame his instincts and came back when he saw the assassin.

And Vin and the gun. Wow! Give Vin a long range rifle and he will hit anything. As he told Nathan - to have a rifle like that, to hold such a power in your hands, it's a mighty temptation for any man. This episode pretty much cemented Vin as the sharpshooter of the seven.

Oh, and Buck and his lady, Luisa. I thought it fit perfectly that Buck's perfect woman was an emancipated, strong-willed lady. He always respected women and put them on a pedestal...

Only one episode to go :( I left it for tomorrow because I just don't want the series to end. This team, these seven men are... It's such a wonderful show, showcasing all the characters, not sidelining any one of them. It's awesome!
katikat: (mag7-m7)
Achilles: A JD episode. I felt so, so sorry for him - and for the girl, of course. But as Buck kept repeating, that could've happened to anybody. I just loved how supportive Buck was. When JD decided to leave, Buck was crushed. His "You're my friend, what am I gonna do without you?" broke my heart. But the last part was awesome, how JD killed Achilles!

And Vin was tracking again, ha! I loved the part where he admitted to Mary that he really did not know how to read and asked her to teach him. That was beautiful.

And Ezra was a jerk again. I wanted to punch him when he started laughing in Vin's face. He was lucky that Vin didn't know how to hold a grudge. But Vin did have a laugh at Ezra's expense though, when Ezra lost all his clothing in a poker game. That was funny. And my, my, does Ez have an awesome body or what? Still, I'm not a fan of the conman, seriously. He has some redeeming qualities but overall, he's a jerk.

Penance: A Josiah episode. And partially Nathan's too - he and Raine are... weird. I'm not sure I like Raine all that much. Oh, don't get me wrong, I did like that she came to clear up things with Nathan. But! She told him that her village wanted her to marry a guy they had chosen for her - on the other hand, she kept telling Nathan that it was not the reason why she came. I don't know, it felt really... like she didn't know what she wanted :( But honestly? I think that if the show had lasted longer, Nathan would have left in the last episode and went to Raine.

But back to Josiah. I was surprised that Chris didn't stick with him. He kept saying that they didn't know much about Josiah etc. and I was so happy that Vin was adamant about Josiah's innocence. He was convinced that Josiah did not do it, no matter the evidence. Stubborn like a mule, he made Chris stand up for Josiah too. That was awesome, how determined Vin was to clear Josiah's name.

And Josiah's backstory. 'Ouch' doesn't even begin to cover it. And I'm glad that he told Vin. Their last scene was awesome, so intimate. I would've liked to see more scenes with these two characters.

In this ep, there were really unusual "pairings", as in Chris was partnered with Nathan and JD, Ezra with Buck and Vin with Josiah. Usually, it's Chris with Vin, Buck with JD, Josiah with Nathan and Ezra is usually... out there, doing his thing. I'm glad that they are mixing things up a bit as the show goes. Oh, don't get me wrong, Chris and Vin's scenes are my favorite, but I really do like all the characters and their interactions reveal new things about them.

Oh, and I find it a bit funny that Chris was so unforgiving when JD shot the girl and he had no trust in Josiah's innocence, but when Vin was arrested for murder, Chris didn't doubt him one bit. Or when Vin fought for Chanu - Chris yelled at Buck for doubting Vin. Or when Vin ran away with that married woman - Chris had his back the whole time. Hehe, he really does have a soft spot for Vin ;)
katikat: (mag7-m7)
The Trial: Carl Lumbly! I thought he was the perfect choice for Nathan's father. And I was glad that Nathan got a backstory too. I felt so sorry for both him and his father - on the other hand, I understood the judge's arguments too. What Obediah did was a murderer, no matter his reasons. But how else could he have punished the man who had done something so awful to his family? Even if he went to court with it, it would've been the word of a former slave against the word of a former overseer...

And Ezra and his mother as a comic relief again :P

Chinatown: I was surprised by the way Ezra treated the girl he had bought. But I realized he was right, when he explained his reasons to her - sure, he was a conman, but he had never and would never abuse a woman. He was a greedy jerk but he had some boundaries, some lines he would never cross. I guess that's why he fits with the other six so well.

I loved the way JD and Inez played Buck. Buck wanted to make Inez fall for him with a love potion and she and JD simply turned the tables back on him. But I think that even if the potion had worked and Inez fell in love, Buck wouldn't have done anything. He would've been excited at first but I think he would've quickly realized that what he did was wrong. After all, his mama taught him to respect women.

You know, I'm glad that this show touches upon terrible subjects like slavery, "justifiable" homicide or racism without getting preachy. The writers were, IMHO, able to point out just how wrong these injustices were without taking them out of their period content. They made the characters feel the wrongness without giving them a too modern attitude.
katikat: (mag7-m7)
The Wagon Train 1&2: Ah, the (in)famous Charlotte... Vin fell pretty hard for her, didn't he? Do you think she was THE one for him? I don't know. I think he loved the idea of her more than the real her. I mean, it was pretty much established that Vin had a soft spot for women in peril. Charlotte obviously didn't know what she wanted. And I was glad that Vin realized it in the end and that it was he who ended their affair. I mean, she kept saying how she wanted to run away with him but she was more concerned about her husband than about Vin. I mean, I kinda understood her too, as she said, her husband changed a lot after their daughter had died, still... I don't know. I do think that if her husband hadn't treated her like dirt, Vin wouldn't have noticed her in the first place.

I loved that Chris was trying to watch Vin's back throughout the episode, that he tried to talk some sense into him. And when Charlotte's husband swore to kill Vin, I LOL'd at Chris "Oh, boy..." Vin really knows how to pick them, doesn't he? Another thing I loved was the part where Chris asked if Vin was staying for good, if Chris could count on him again. And then, at the end, when he asked if Vin was really okay. Aww, I love their friendship so much!

I LOL'd at Josiah and that clingy widow. And at Buck and JD's antics.

Oh, and Chris and Mary... I wonder if it was the actor's decision or the writer's/director's, but Chris acted really cool and unfazed when Mary told him that she was getting married. Chris was honestly happy for her. I think this pretty much killed any notion of Chris/Mary for me. IMHO, they are good friends but there's no true love, at least not on his part. I think he'll forever love his wife.

My favorite part? When Vin was caught in that explosion and Chris picked him up and made sure that he was really okay. Vin's "I feel better than I look." Aww...
katikat: (mag7-m7)
Love and Honor: I loved the UST between Buck and Inez. His courting and her rebuffs were really playful and funny. What a great - possible - pairing!

Loved seeing A Martinez on this show. I've loved the actor since his years on Santa Barbara as Cruz Castillo.

Every scene that Vin and Chris have together fills me with glee. Loved the one where Vin brought Chris supplies and then lurked in the trees to help him with the Mexicans.

JD and Casey? Always funny. "Buy that girl a frog gigger." LOL!

Vendetta: Wow. That was really intense. And I loved the twist at the end. Tyne Daly played the obsessive mother scarily well. I loved the shoot-out at the end, playing out to the sounds of the gregorian chant and her prayers. Yikes! I mean, I did understand her reasoning - a trial, if it even came to that, wouldn't be enough, I guess - but still: yikes!

Ezra was awesome in this ep. First he went to "parley", then he sent the guys in the opposite direction and then he destroyed the armored coach.

Hurt!JD. That boy gets hurt an awful lot, let me tell you.

I also liked the scene with Vin and Buck, where Buck explained to Vin Chris' problem with his father-in-law.

You know, I really love that every episode is really... personal. So far, not one has been simply... out there, without any character development. The characters, the whole show is always moving forward, the seven becoming a real, tightly knit unit.
katikat: (mag7-m7)
The New Law: I really liked Mary in this one. Why didn't they write her this strong from the get-go? I loved the part where she interviewed the marshal and he told her that women shouldn't work or have the right to vote or drink, and she told him she would show him what she thought of his principles and gulped down a whole bottle of beer! Ha! That was awesome.

And the funniest part was, when Josiah asked God to give him a sign - and the village dog started barking! And Josiah turned his eyes up and asked, "You find it funny, don't you?" Or something along the lines. That was hilarious!!!

Sins of the Past: Poor Vin. I loved the episode, but poor Vin. Now he won't be able to prove his innocence anymore, he'll be a wanted man forever. Ouch. But I did love that he didn't blame Chris for killing Eli, that he accepted that Chris did it to save his life. I mean, Chris and the others were feeling bad enough as it was, their expressions... They all knew that Vin's last chance to prove his innocence was gone.

My favorite scene was the one in the jail, when Vin was raving about how he should have never stayed, how he should have moved on and found Eli, when he told Chris that he wasn't afraid of dying but he didn't want to hang for something he didn't do - and Chris promised him that he wouldn't, that he, Chris, would make sure of that. And when Vin told him no, that Chris should stay away from the whole thing, that if Chris got tangled up with the marshals, he would hang too - and Chris just looked at him and walked away. That was AWESOME!

Or the scene where the marshals were taking Vin away and the others could only watch, knowing that Vin's fate was now in Chris' hands...

I know that the part with Buck and the pregnant girl and with Ezra and his mother should've been comic relief but honestly? I felt sorry for both of them. Especially for Ezra. His mother ruined him just because she could, to teach him a lesson.

Also, it really felt like they were trying to pair everybody up, what with the appearance of Mary, Casey, Inez...
katikat: (mag7-m7)
Seriously, peeps, I can't even begin to explain to you just how much I love this show. Imagine me bouncing around the room with stars in my eyes - that's how much I love it. I simply want to roll in the pretty!

The Collector: Nettie Wells and her niece Casey rocked my socks, seriously. When you compare these two amazing female characters with the always anxious looking Mary Travis... Ha! I want to be like Nettie when I grow up *_*

JD/Casey must be my favorite pairing on this show. She's so smitten with him and he's so oblivious. And Buck as their "love coach", LOL!

But my favorite part was Vin's relationship with Nettie, that she reminded him of his ma. I loved the way he treated her, like a real lady.

And the funniest part? Ezra and Buck trying to light the dynamite. LOL! Or Chris having no idea who the guy was who was after him. He was like "Who IS this guy?! *hands*" Ha!

Manhunt: Awesome episode! It always gets me that it was the preacher, even after so many times I've seen this episode.

It was so great that we got find out more about Vin's background, that he used to live with an Indian tribe where he learned how to track. And that his past experience allowed him to understand Chanu better. I loved the ending, when Chanu gave Vin his pouch...

Another great thing was that Chris took it personally that Buck and Ezra didn't trust Vin and his instincts.

And the funniest part was Josiah and Ko-Je. Ron Perlman is simply amazing!

Inmate 78: This was a Chris heavy episode but I admit I mostly ffwded through the prison stuff - I can't watch series that take place in prison. I've never seen Oz or Prison Break because prisons in general make me highly uncomfortable. I just can't watch it.

I loved how pissed Buck was, first at the sheriff, then at the store owner when they found Chris' gun. But I loved how they all deferred to Vin and let him make the decisions. One touch by him was enough to calm Buck down. Man, I can't actually remember ever seeing Vin angry on this show...

My favorite scene was the one in the bar, when the sheriff strode in with the warrant for Vin's arrest, when he started saying that he was there just to arrest Vin, that obviously, the others didn't know that Vin was wanted for murder in Texas etc. and so on - and they all just grinned at him and told him that yeah, they did know. Ha!
katikat: (mag7-m7)
Nemesis: I'm glad that Buck stuck with Chris. The scene where he reminded Chris just how much he had liked Sarah and especially Adam was so cool. Yeah, sometimes, Chris really needs a kick in the head.

Jock Steele. LOL! I loved Buck's "Good God Almighty!" when Jock caught up with them outside Purgatory. And that Vin called him "little feller" XD

But, honestly, for me this show stands and falls with Vin. Don't get me wrong, I love all the seven, they are all unique in their very own way and that's why they work together perfectly. But Vin...

Not only is Eric Close gorgeous, I love his character: quiet and unassuming, reliable and always there when you need him. Oh, and a perfect shot - not for nothing do the guys use him as a sharpshooter and he's usually portrayed as a sharpshooter in AU fics.

And in this ep... First he shot one of the fleeing guys, then he tracked them to Purgatory and then he recognized Cletus Fowler in the photograph.

BTW, another bad guy called Fowler. LOL!
katikat: (mag7-m7)
Safecracker: I loved the scene in the saloon, when the little girl pointed out that the guy playing poker with Ezra was cheating and Ezra said, "I know." And when the guy pulled a gun on him, Ezra pulled a gun too and the rest of the seven jumped to his defense. That was so cool! I just loved how they worked as a unit, as a team.

But my favorite part was when Chris and Vin rode into Purgatorio. Vin started pointing out the men he had brought to justice during his time as a bounty hunter and Chris told him that if he stayed, he would be deader than a beaver hat soon. And when Vin told him that he was willing to risk it, Chris said, "Well, I'm not" and sent Vin home. Such a cool scene!

Witness: Billy, Mary's son, never grew on me. I think it was because of the boy who was playing the part. A cute looking kid but as an actor? A wooden doll would've done better. Also, this was pretty much an ep that should've showed us just how much Mary and Chris had in common - in reality, I find it a bit annoying, the way she keeps running after him, looking all teary-eyed.

The best part of the episode was Ezra's mom. It was so funny, her arrival, I mean. But Ezra's confrontation with her... Ouch. But it was nice to see that he actually outgrew her, that he matured and became a good man.
katikat: (mag7-m7)
One Day Out West: I thought it was a nice touch to have Robert Vaughn, Lee from the old Mag7 movie, play Judge Orrin Travis here - he's the only one of the original Mag7 still alive, right? Of the actors, I mean.

I loved the scene with Chris a Vin in the saloon. Vin was determined to leave for Tascosa in the morning and when Chris couldn't persuade him to stay longer, he just decided to go with him. Sweet! And this is the scene, I guess, that inspired many fanfics - the tidbit that Vin's the only one who can call Chris 'cowboy' without Chris going ballistic.

And I laughed when Buck tried to convince JD not to be a sheriff. That scene was so funny! Dale Midkiff has a great comedy talent! Another funny scene was the one with Nathan and Josiah on the roof of the church.

But I don't like Mary Travis. I'm sorry but she's just annoying. She judges people, she sticks her nose where it doesn't belong... She's very irritating. I don't know if it's the character or the way Laurie Holden's playing it - she seems on the verge of tears all the time, anxious, nervous...

Working Girls: Is it just me or is it always Vin who does the risky stuff? I mean, seriously, the wagon ride was... Wow! Oh, and I just love how completely unaffected Vin was by the prostitutes. Everybody else was all wink wink, nudge nudge, even Chris had this little smirk on his face, and Vin was all politely disinterested. It was actually pretty funny.

Ezra in drag! The way he pushed up his 'breasts' and plumped up his 'bottom'... LOL!

And Mary and her small-mindedness again. And Mary in peril *head/desk*

But I loved the background info on Buck, that his mother had been a prostitute. I loved his respect for the 'working girls', how courteous he was and that he considered his mother a saint. Loved that. But his attempts to get JD in a sack with one of them were hilarious XD
katikat: (mag7-m7)
So, the whole bromance thing made me want to watch Mag7 again. What a great show. It's too bad it has only 22 eps - that's definitely a show that got canceled before its time. Well, at least it's out on DVD, right?

You know, I think this is the shortest TV series that has ever created such a huge fandom. I mean, Firefly is big on DVD and all that jazz, but Mag7? No one can beat Mag7 when it comes to fandom - in proportion to the length of a series, that is. When you consider how short the series was, the amount of stories written in this fandom is... staggering. People really responded to it. And the funniest thing is that it's not the canon fics that are most popular - it's the ATF universe, created by a fan for fans and featuring the Mag7 as the members of Team 7 of the Denver ATF bureau. That's... amazing! And there are still stories being written - 13 years after the show's cancellation! Wow, it's just... wow!

My favorite thing in this series is the incredible friendship between Chris and Vin. It's... stunning, a piece of beauty, really. The way these two men just click from the moment their eyes meet for the first time across the dusty road in Four Corners.

Which brings me to the pilot...

Ghost of the Confederacy: My favorite scene of the two-hour-pilot would be the one where Vin and Chris were sitting alone together, up there on the hill, the sun was setting and Vin was using his spyglass to watch out for the bad guys while telling Chris about what happened to him in Tascosa. I loved that he asked Chris to collect the reward should he get killed. The scene was so beautiful and it demonstrated everything that I love about their bromance!

And then there are Buck and JD, another two guys that click. But whereas Vin and Chris' friendship is deep and quiet, Buck and JD's reminds me of a whirlwind affair, all fun and bickering and loud noises.

Then there's Nathan and his Raine. Josiah and his penance. And Ezra...

I never figured out why so many people adored Ezra. I mean, he is the character that gets developed most, the one with the shadiest past and uncertain motives. But I've never been a big fan. Sure, he's interesting but I just don't get the obsession his character created.

This is such a wonderful show. It's high time I re-watched it!
katikat: (Default)
Yes, Mag7, the short-lived TV show, was quite slashy and spawned many awesome fics, both gen and slash - and also one of the most amazing and wide spread AU in any fandom, the ATF!

I've never been a part of the fandom per se, but I read a lot of fics. My favorite character? Vin, of course. My favorite slash pairing? Chris/Vin. Not only were the characters incredibly slashable, Michael Biehn and Eric Close had amazing chemistry. And fanfic authors in this fandom loved to hurt Vin, so there's a huge amount of hurt!Vin/comforting!Chris fics out there, exactly the stuff I love.

What I never understood was the appeal of Ezra. Sure, I did like him a lot and I read the occasional Ezra/Vin story too, but the Ezra character itself? Meh. Never got the why people were so bonkers about him.

But Chris/Vin... Wow, I'm still smitten *swoons*
katikat: (Default)
You know, I have yet to come across a fandom with as bad fanfiction as the NCIS one offers, really. Throw a stone and you'll hit a bad fic. The amount is ridiculous. Not only are the characters completely OOC - which I can understand when something bad happens to them or they are thrust into a situation that they are not familiar with - but the fics feel like they were written by a love-struck teenager. It's a shame that such a great series doesn't have more good fics. Puh :(

And since I'm already talking about OOC - Ezra Standish from The Magnificent Seven. That character displays almost as abrasive attitude as Rodney McKay on-screen with his "Mr. Larabee this" and "Mr. Tanner that" so I just don't get why fanfic authors keep portraying him as kind and soft-spoken! Sure, he does have a good heart but he doesn't wear it on his sleeve *shakes head*
katikat: (Default)
* Another bubble show canceled: New Amsterdam this time...

* How come that "Jim C. Hines" isn't an LJ interest? Did nobody here on LJ read his awesome "Goblin" series? *wibbles*

* [livejournal.com profile] ladyjanelly finished her awesome CWRPS AU "In From the Cold"! Jared works at a free clinic, Jensen is a homeless guy...

* OMG! Did you see the DVD sale Amazon's having? Stargate: Atlantis for 25 bucks a season (already ordered S1 and S2)! Stargate: SG-1 for 19.99! The Sentinel, S1 for 20 bucks! Charmed for 20 bucks too! The Pretender for 20! 21 Jump Street for 15 bucks! I want! I want! I want!

* It always surprises me how many people like Ezra on The Magnificent Seven! I am a Vin girl all the way. Although lately, I don't care if he's paired up with Chris or Ezra in slash fics. Though the gen stories about Chris and Vin bonding, about their awesome friendship always floor me *rolls in the pretty*
katikat: (Default)
According to this article the writers and the networks may start negotiating again on Nov. 26th. I don't think that this will lead to a fast resolution of this whole mess - I'm kinda afraid that this season is doomed - but at least they are talking again *shakes head*

Last night, I had a great time re-reading my old favorites...

The Magnificent Seven AU gen fic "Hospital" by Mel. In this modern AU fic, Chris' mother married Vin's father when Chris was seventeen and Vin five. Since then, they have been the best brothers ever. Now, Vin's kidnapped and after he's found he has to spend many weeks in a hospital, recovering. During that time, the readers get to know them better through a series of flashbacks. I love the fic, truly and honestly!

Supernatural AU Wincest fic "Old Ghosts" by Gillian Middleton. In this fic, Sam and Dean meet and fall in love without knowing that they are actually brothers because they were separated after their father had abandoned them in a motel room. It's an excellent and long read and like all Gillian's fics, it's made of awesome!
katikat: (Default)
Ha, Amazon shipped off my pre-ordered DVDs! The Magnificent Seven: Season 2! Wow, Mag7, Mag7, Mag7 *dances* I mean, it's Chris and Vin and Buck and... all the guys *grins* This was such an amazing TV show. I've seen it in three different languages - Polish, German and Czech. What a great, great show... And the fanfics! Simply amazing :)

But this is also the show where I mostly associate the actors with their roles and don't go out of my way to find their other works... Sure, Michael Biehn I loved in Terminator and Aliens, Dale Midkiff in TimeTrax and Ron Pearlman in Hellboy but that's about it.

What really surprises me is that although I adore Vin to pieces and he is my favorite character, I kind of... dislike... Eric Close. I started to feel like this after I found out how religiously obsessed he is. Even when signing autographs he quotes the Bible. So, yeah X(

And I finally remembered that I have an actual home page. One that I should finally update, for pete's sake. Before GeoCities dumps my poor behind. I completely, totally forgot about it o.O
katikat: (Default)
Three nights ago: I dreamed about the TV show Psych. Gus found Shawn on the floor in their office. Someone shot the Psych in the head. He wasn't dead but very close. Then someone called Henry and told him that they shot his son in revenge for something he did as a cop... And that's when I woke up. It was like reading a fic, and in English too! I still remember the first line: "Gus never thought that Shawn could get hurt, not really." X)

Two nights ago: Supernatural this time. Sam and Dean were passing through a town and the local catholic priest let them stay at his house that was attached to the church. But in the night, they found out that he was actually a satanist. They found human flesh in the house and symbols painted with blood under the carpets. And then he locked them in their room and... I woke up!

Last night: I went to the police station to report a robbery? A kidnapping? A murder? Well, something bad. And I was in the wrong place in the wrong time and there was a madman with a pistol who took me and another guy hostage. I remember exactly how scared I was, but I didn't cry or freak out. On the outside I was completely calm, on the inside I was totally freaked out. I asked him to let me go and he said "No way", cocking the gun... And then my cell phone rang and woke me up. I was so glad, let me tell you. My heart was hammering like crazy. That was a really really bad dream. I can't remember the last time I was that scared!

Something normal now: Since today, I'm the proud owner of The Magnificent Seven: The Complete First Series. Yes! The DVD finally arrived!
katikat: (Default)
As my dear friends know, I'm a huge fan of the TV series Magnificent Seven and especially of the relationship (gen or slash) between Chris and Vin. So it was a big surprise for me that I actually loved a Chris/Ezra story! O.o It's called "Madness Lies" and it's written by Zeke Black. It's a really long fanfic (over 67 000 words!!!) and it depicts the story of the seven Larabee brothers. Yup, it's an AU set in 1979. The three eldest brothers - Josiah, Chris and Buck - are trying to find their younger bros who were taken away from them by Social Services nineteen years ago after their parents had died. And since this story is slash, I think you know what the possible squick of this story might be. But I didn't mind. The fic is truly excellent and very much worth the hours you'll spend reading it! Go, read and review :)
