On the slashiness of The Magnificent Seven

Yes, Mag7, the short-lived TV show, was quite slashy and spawned many awesome fics, both gen and slash - and also one of the most amazing and wide spread AU in any fandom, the ATF!

I've never been a part of the fandom per se, but I read a lot of fics. My favorite character? Vin, of course. My favorite slash pairing? Chris/Vin. Not only were the characters incredibly slashable, Michael Biehn and Eric Close had amazing chemistry. And fanfic authors in this fandom loved to hurt Vin, so there's a huge amount of hurt!Vin/comforting!Chris fics out there, exactly the stuff I love.

What I never understood was the appeal of Ezra. Sure, I did like him a lot and I read the occasional Ezra/Vin story too, but the Ezra character itself? Meh. Never got the why people were so bonkers about him.

But Chris/Vin... Wow, I'm still smitten *swoons*

This is exactly the way I feel about him. I like him just fine but just never got peoples fascination with him.

A friend of mine who's a late comer to M7 but has been entirely eaten by the fandom for about a year, is a big Chris/Buck fan. That's fine, too, but I actually get more of a 'brothers' vibe between them myself. Which is a strange caveat considering my own fascination with Sam/Dean, but go figure. *G*

And yes, Vin is the character you love to hurt and then let Chris gently care for him. Of course, seeing the tables turned on Chris is pretty fine, too. He suffers so beautifully!

I'm about due to re-watch by Mag7 dvds. I'm veering into westerns again. I began re-watching Deadwood last night.

I could understand Chris/Buck - I mean, they went through so much together. But Chris/Ezra? I mean, they barely exchanged a word on the show.

But Chris/Vin... Oh my. They just... click for me in all the ways possible! I need to get back in the fandom and read fics again!

I should re-watch Mag7, too. Bought the DVDs as soon as they came out!

Exactly! I like Ezra okay, but I don't see how he is supposedly a million times better than any other character of the show. To be honest, I always thought he was a bit boring. Although I always felt sorry for him whenever he had to deal with his mother. *g*

Chris/Vin is sort of obvious, what with the eye fucking across the street before they even say hello. :D

Me too! He was an interesting character but I never felt the need to obsess about him.

But Chris and Vin. Like, wow! In the first ep, when Vin said that he had to leave, Chris was all okay, so we are leaving tomorrow :P
