"In These Words Vol. 1" by GuiltPleasure

♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

A very graphic manga telling the story of a psychiatrist, Asano Katsuya, who is asked to evaluate a sadistic, psychopathic serial killer before his trial. But the murderer starts playing mind games with Katsuya until the good doctor can't distinguish between dream and reality.

This is not a manga for fainthearted people. It deals with rape and abuse in very raw, graphic and unapologetic terms. It doesn't try to prettify it or make it okay though it does deal with the beginnings of the Stockholm Syndrome. A very strange but gripping story.

I got to finally watch the season finale of Numb3rs.

My spoilery thoughts... )

I finished reading book 6 of Tohko Mizuno's "In a Distant Time" (Harukanaru toki no naka de...). It had a very interesting Tomomasa story (in the anime it was actually Takamichi's story). But what really got me was the bonus story set in "In a Distant Time II" that takes place 100 years later. It was the story of how the pirate Jade and the Prefect Fujiwara na Yukitaka met (in German, his title was Sicherheitschef but I doubt that he would be Security Chief in English, so I chose the title Prefect). Oh my, those two could actually make me want to write yaoi once more! *drools*

There's the promo for this week's SGA! Awesome, it really looks awesome. I can see especially one person on my flist being insanely happy with that *eyes [livejournal.com profile] kirusai*

And Pop Culture Zoo's interview with the SGA actors at this year's Comic Con is so much fun. I love how funny Joe Flanigan is and his deadpan answer "I sleep with everyone." XD The interview isn't spoilery at all, so have no fear there :)

I just finished reading the 5th volume of the "HaruToki" manga by Tohko Mizuno. The Germans are much further in this series than the Americans and I also very much prefer the title they gave it - "In a Distant Time". The English title - "Haruka: Beyond the Stream of Time" - is kinda, well, ridiculous, really. They obviously wanted to keep at least a part of the Japanese title to let people know that it's a manga to the famous anime Harukanaru Toki no Naka de... but the end result? Ugh.

But! Why am I talking about it. You know, when I was watching the anime, my favorite character was Takamichi - I mean, a cute guy with glasses? *swoons* But in the manga, I would have to go with General Tomomasa as my favorite character. He's the only one who isn't head over heals for Akane, who sees every man fall for her and who knows that it's ridiculous. Sure, even he considers Akane cute but she being half his age, he just amuses himself with watching the others fall pathetically for her. And in vol. 5, we finally get a more Tomomasa centric story that ends with a cliffhanger too!

And the chibi kindergarten story where Akane is the teacher of a kindergarten class with the Hachiyou as cute, pudgy children XD That was so funny!

I didn't sleep well last night. Actually, I didn't sleep at all from 5am to 6am because there was lightning, thunder, buckets and buckets of rain and hail all at once. It felt like the sky just opened and dumped it all down on us. Yikes! *scared*

I finished reading Yoko Matushita's "Yami no Matsuei 2", the volume that contains the "Devil's Trill" arc - awesome, awesome stuff! I wonder though. Is "Yami no Matsuei" Yoko Matushita's only manga? That would be too bad because her style is amazing.

And now I picked up "Supernatural: The Official Companion 2" by Nicholas Knight and Tohko Mizuno's "In a Distant Time 5" *happy*

Oh, and I hope to finally finish "Enchanter" by Sara Douglass today. Only 4 more chapters and it's over. I think I might cry with the happy once I'm done with this book!

If I heard right while listening to the audio commentaries to Psych, one episode of this series doesn't cost more that 300 000 $! So basically, one season isn't more than 5 mil. USD. Wow, that's cheap! The whole Blood Ties show's budget was only 3 mil. USD while Supernatural's one season budget was 40+ mil. USD. Wow, that's a difference!

I love to listen to podbooks while playing mahjong on my computer! That's one of the most relaxing things I know...

I started reading Tohko Mizuno's "In a Distant Time". It's the manga version of the anime Haru Kanaru Toki no Naka de... that I was so obsessed with some time ago. So far, it's quite cute :)

I've started buying manga only lately because I have enough books to keep me occupied for several months. And there have been a few manga that deserve to be mentioned here...

Incubus 1 )

Gorgeous Carat Galaxy )

La Esperanca 1 )

I really had to cut this one. My reviews ARE getting longer and longer XP

Do you remember me talking about ordering Gorgeous Carat Galaxy? Well, I waited and waited for it to be shipped to me but nothing was happening. So, I canceled the item and ordered it again and now it's in the "shipping soon" phase :D See? A kick in the butt is enough sometimes.

But for this manga not to feel lonely during its journey across the ocean, I had to order another one: "Incubus" by Yayoi Neko. It might not be a real Japanese manga but wow, the premise is rather cool! But as a friend of mine asked me: What would you call an incubus that's after men and not women? *scratches her head*

I'm still reading and very much enjoying "Guilty Pleasures" by Laurell K. Hamilton, the first book in her Anita Blake Series. That's a heroine I like! Anita is spunky and has guts *nods*

And I can say only WOW to Utawarerumono. I'm not even sure why I enjoy this anime so much, but I do. It has a great story, amazing characters and it's simply catching, you know? It grabs the unsuspecting and won't let go :)
