FRIENDSHIP FIRST | Doherty assured the audience that the new male/female partnership was “not designed” to turn into a Will They/Won’t They romance. Instead, the series will “honor the relationship” between Sherlock and Watson, he promised, by focusing on what made the pairing special: their deep friendship. But first, they have to build them up to being friends. Link
Please, let it be true. Please, let it be true. Please, let this NOT be a lie to placate fans, hook them up and then screw them over. Don't let them be lying to us the way Jeff Eastin did when he introduced Sara Ellis and promised us she wasn't a love interest for Neal only to have them boinking like rabbits three eps later. I will GLADLY admit that I was wrong if Holmes and Watson do NOT become a couple, if this does NOT turn into a Gregson/Watson/Holmes triangle where Watson will have to decide between two men. Please, let them get at least THIS right since they already screwed up the Sherlock Holmes myth by making Watson a disgraced surgeon instead of a wounded war hero with PTSD.
One reason why I don't trust these authors/execs at all is because they produced Medium which must be the most hated show in our household. It's enough for a promo to pop up on TV and we scramble for the remote. Allison's insane, hysterical screeching, her incessant weeping, the way she kept yelling at her husband for not being understanding enough all the frickin' time... Ugh. Seriously, if they write Joan Watson in any way like that...!
So yeah, I'm posting it here because I do plan to watch the show - I mean, it IS Sherlock Holmes, after all - and I think it's important to know both sides of the argument. So, fingers crossed that they do not screw it up any more than they did already.
