I know there are peeps on my flist who watched this series, so... According to this article - link - SyFy canceled Sanctuary. It's not unexpected since they hesitated this long to pick it up, but it's not really a fair treatment, IMHO, to let everybody wait and wait and wait and then give them the bad news. But that's SyFy for you, classy as always :-/

SyFy just renewed Sanctuary for a 13 ep long 4th season: link. Congratulations, fans!

* I'm thinking of hoarding the rest of Numb3rs - only four more episodes to go! - and then marathoning it in one go. It's easier to go through the teeth-gritting or mind-numbing parts when you have more Colby and David in one heap!

* Leverage is still delegated to DVD. I love the show and I love the "kids" - Eliot, Hardison and Parker - but my plate is just too full! Besides, the audio commentaries on the DVDs are hilarious. And also insightful!

* White Collar and Supernatural return next week! My favorite two shows back on TV. I hope that a) Neal and Peter stay buddies and b) Sam and Dean's... brotherness... will be back. I can't do without the one or the other.

* I decided to download the season finale of Sanctuary - the promo looked good and besides, I really want to LIKE this show. I stopped watching around 105 but I was told that just after that it became really good. Hm. Ok, I will give it a another go.

* Still need to catch up on: Castle, Bones, The Mentalist and House.

* And the pilot of Human Target is out on torrents? It might be a good one so I'll try it out - even though the opening credits left kinda blah :( But I'm not getting too excited about it. I loved the old version with Rick Springfield - I really, REALLY loved it - so a re-do... Springfield's character, Christopher Chance, was so broken and his team was so protective of him that the show pushed all my buttons!

As TVShowsOnDVD posted, Amanda Tapping's Sanctuary S1 is coming out on DVD Sept. 15th! And it'll have so many extras!

Bonus Material (noted as not yet finalized, so this list could change) is planned to include Audio Commentaries from Tapping and Kindler on all 13 episodes, a 2-part Sanctuary Webisode Mini-Series, some Behind-the-Scenes Footage, a Photo Gallery, and a Sneak Peek at Season 2.

I love how Amanda is always willing to do audio commentaries! And for all episodes! It's kind of awesome! It's not on the top of my list but I do intend to buy it eventually.

Michael Shanks to guest star on Sanctuary in an episode written by Alan McCullough!

Sweet! I love Michael Shanks and Alan McCullough wrote the best SGA episodes - like Outcast or The Queen - with great character interaction and intriguing storylines. Even Joe Mallozzi had to admit that fans loved McCullough for his team-oriented episodes - I wonder why the other writers didn't take a hint, then.

I watched all the eps that I had downloaded - 101-106 - and the show does get better. Slowly, true, but some improvement really is there. On the other hand, it's still missing... something. I can't put my finger on it but there's just something a little off.

It feels, at least to me, like the cast has no chemistry. It's like the actors go through the motions, repeating their lines but the... spark, I would call it, is not there. It feels a bit like SGA season 1 - Sheppard and McKay were what was holding the show together for me but the team didn't really click until Ronon joined them - and with Sanctuary's team it's similar. Nice, likable people but they just don't stick together as a unit for me.

Also, the horrible CG background in most of the scenes is quite annoying. It feels like looking at those pictures that you need to stare long and hard at to see what's in them - the shape then leaps forward while everything else blurs. That's what most of the scenes feel like to me.

Should the show appear on DVDs, I would probably go for it if it's cheap enough and if there are extras but I don't see myself downloading and watching the series regularly.

You know, I wasn't all that thrilled about the show, Amanda Tapping's Sanctuary I mean, I actually stopped downloading the eps pretty early on. On the other hand, I would like to finish watching the season. And so I thought that I would buy it on DVD - but there no news about it on Amazon.com.

Amazon.co.uk lists it for October 2009 but I'm rather reluctant - okay, more than "rather" - to order any shows on DVD from the UK Amazon because the DVDs either don't have any extras or they only have some, not all and even the description of extras on their web is not accurate - as I found out when I ordered S4 of NCIS and found no audio commentaries on the DVDs even though Amazon.co.uk listed them as being there.

Oh well, it's not nearly a priority for me, to be honest, it's just boggles the mind. The show is reportedly successful and still no DVDs announced? That's weird.

* Scifi renews Sanctuary for season 2. I still haven't caught up on that show *head/desk*

* This week's ratings for the CW? Ouch. I hope that Supernatural can beat them *crosses fingers* But since it'll be pre-empted in New York...
Gossip Girl 2.88 mil., 1.5/ 4
One Tree Hill 2.99 mil., 1.6/4
90210 2.72 mil., 1.4/4
Privileged 1.86 mil., 0.9/2

* NBC canceled My Own Worst Enemy. I tried to watch the show but the first ep left me totally cold :( And since its ratings dropped below 5 mil. viewers, I'm not surprised...

* HBO orders fantasy pilot Thrones. The program is based on George R.R. Martin’s bestselling series of novels "A Song of Fire & Ice". If greenlit, Thrones would represent the rarest of TV genres: a full-fledged fantasy series.

After watching the premiere of Amanda Tapping's new series Sanctuary, I have to say that it boils down to the fact that basically, it's a crossover between Poltergeist: The Legacy and Torchwood. It's not bad but it's also not riveting. It might turn out to be a good show, if you suspend your disbelief a bit. But the most stunning thing? Joel Goldsmith's music. That man is a master! Wow!

Other spoilery thoughts... )

So yeah, I will be downloading and watching next week too, although I wasn't really floored by the show. But it does have its own specific... atmosphere.

Ugh!

Somebody, please, stop me - I'm seriously thinking of buying The Nanny S1 on DVD. I added it to my Amazon wish list! >.< I always loved Fran and Mr. Sheffield but especially Niles and Miss Babcock! Those two simply rocked my socks. I watch the show every week-day on TV during lunch these days and my fingers fairly itch to have it on DVD!

Also, yay, new Numb3rs tomorrow - yes, I decided to keep watching even though the show was kinda losing me the last season or two. My brotherly love started to shift from Charlie to Don, to be honest, because Charlie's love trouble with Amita started to get on my last nerve.

And Sanctuary starts too! I really hope that this show will be good. I never saw the webisodes so I have no real idea what it's about but it has Amanda Tapping in it so I will give it a try...

OMG! Did you see it? OMG! So good!

My spoilery thoughts... )

Awesome. I mean, really, really awesome. This season is just blowing my mind! If the SGA movie is at least as good as this mid-season two-parter, then I will be a happy camper :)

And now we have to wait two weeks for the next ep? Meep :'( Next week, Sanctuary premieres.

Doesn't Amanda Tapping's new show Sanctuary look a lot like Torchwood with a smidgen of Poltergeist: The Legacy and Stargate SG-1? I will give it a try, of course, I love sci-fi - as long as it's not about who sleeps with whom á la Battlestar Galactica - but it doesn't sound very original. But then, what's original these days, right?

90210's rating? It rose from 4.54 mil. to 5.16 mil. viewers with 2.5/8 to 2.7/7 demo. The CW is tickled happy, of course, raving about how it was the CW's best performance as of yet.

And Ausiello talked about Chuck getting a full season (22 episodes) pick-up: "NBC feels the show is on the verge of breaking out in a BIG way. Creatively, the network feels Chuck has hit its stride, and a new round of testing seems to back that up. 'The entire cast scores high,' whispers a Peacock source. 'And that's not a common thing. Spirits are very high on that set right now.' Couldn't happen to a nicer group of people." I so hope that he's right, that the show will be successful. Chuck simply rocks my socks - that's why I pre-ordered S1 on DVD :)

New Bones tonight! Yay :) But no Eureka this week...
