The Glades was canceled after 4 seasons: link. I wasn't following it religiously anymore but I was set to get it on DVD once it was over. Not anymore. The season - now series - finale ends on such a terrible cliffhanger - spoilers! ) - that I just can't be bothered. And honestly, pardon my French, but FUCK YOU, A&E! Way to appreciate your viewers. One can say a lot about networks like the CW but they've never canned a long-running show without giving it the time to wrap things up.

♠ Kurt Russell was offered a role in Fast & Furious 7: link. Rumors have it that it's the same part that Denzel Washington turned down. Interesting!

♠ Bradley Cooper will be voicing Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy: link. Apparently, he was the director's, James Gun's, dream casting for the part. Nice!

♠ James Spader was cast as Ultron in The Avengers: Age of Ultron: link. Nice! I have no idea who or what Ultron is so I'm totally unbiased. And looking forward to it even more now!

♠ An interesting report from the Sherlock set, saying that they staged a few "false shots" to throw people off their scent: link. Interesting. But also sad that so called fans make it so hard for the makers of their beloved show to actually film it. Shame on you, gawkers :(

A&E renewed The Glades for S4! I still haven't seen S3 and Callie's still pissing me off but... Yay for Jim Longworth!

-- Tiff Vogt's write-up of Haven's NY Comic Con panel: link. Oh my, the cast was a hoot! Especially Lucas Bryant! And there's a sneak peek at the Xmas episode too!

-- The Glades was renewed for S3: link!

-- Some details from James McAvoy's movie Welcome to the Punch: link. I'm so, SO looking forward to it! \o/

-- I hope to go and see The Three Musketeers this weekend. I don't have big expectations, I just want to see a movie with lotsa sword fights and other fights and action. Just something... different from all the other adaptations (my favorite being the old French one with Gerard Barray!).

Aaaaaaaaand I'm done with S2. It's a good series but nothing that I need to watch ASAP, nothing that really wows me. I could've done without the lovey-dovey drama-llama and I also think that this show suffers from the lack of a good arc. I mean, relationships are all nice and good but there should be some mystery, suspense... Honestly? If it doesn't get picked up for S3? I won't cry in my Cheerios - it had a good season ending that could serve well enough as a series ending, too.

There were some really cool guest stars this season. My favorite? Richard Burgi. Man, that guy's aging well. Not as muscle-bound as he used to be, but still really attractive. The leaner look and silvered hair suit him.

You know, I really liked Sam as a character, but I did not like what she was in the show - one point of a love triangle - so I can't exactly say I was sorry to see her go. And even though Jim was disappointed, he understood why - I loved Callie's look when he told her that he understood why Sam took the job, that women had it hard on the police force, so Sam had to jump at this chance. Yeah, Jim's a prick but from time to time, he's surprisingly understanding.

Daniel has to be the most overworked lab tech in the history of cop shows. I mean, I know that his character is there to cut corners, to make the show more dynamic so that it doesn't drown in painfully slow investigation of every detail - but every time Jim picks up his phone and calls Daniel, I have to laugh. The poor boy!

And yay for meeting Carlos' wife! If I'm not mistaken, it's the same actress who played Paloma Reynosa on NCIS. She's beautiful! And I love Carlos and her together, they have a beautiful marriage...

What I love about this show? That in 9 cases out of 10 you can't guess the culprit. There's always a twist that you didn't expect. But when Jim connects the dots, it's so clear that you can't believe you missed that. And yet, he follows the clues, he doesn't pull the solution out of thin air. No wonder Colleen has his back regardless of his... stunts. He really is that good.

Hey, that was better than I thought! I'm not sure if I would have thought the same watching it on a week-to-week basis, but marathoning it? Awesome!

I was afraid of the two love triangles, Jim-Callie-Ray and Sam-Jim-Callie, but it wasn't that bad. Actually it was much better than the love triangles in Suits.

I think my favorite part in the first four eps was when spoilers! )

I really, really love Colleen, Jim's boss. I mean, she busts his ass regularly, but she would go toe to toe with anybody who would want to hurt him. Oh, and Carlos and his dry wit!

Man, I love marathoning shows!

* Summer premiere dates of all shows, scripted and reality!

* Hm, should I give The Glades S2 a try? The show started great, it was really lovely. But then... By the end of S1, it was more about shipping than crime solving. I was so disappointed...

* WhiCo, a music vid promo. And an early review of 301, slight spoilers, of course!

So, this was the season finale...

Breaking 80 )

So, to wrap up this season. I liked the first half better, when Jim and Callie were just flirting. The second half was... I don't know, I just didn't like the whole "will she/won't she divorce her husband" spiel. I don't like shipping in my shows. And it feels like the show... lost some of its quirkiness with it.
katikat: (glades)
Now that it's mostly about the relationship between Callie and Jim, I don't like the show as much I used to. The cases are still interesting but I just don't like shipping in my shows. I hope that Callie decides whom she actually wants soon. I think that Jim deserves better than someone who can't let go of her past. I mean, I understand her, I really do - but either she wants to stay with her husband or with Jim, she can't have both.

You know what I love best about The Glades? Jim's "teehee" attitude, his utter glee, the way he just loves to annoy people and annoy them and annoy until he gets to the bottom of the murder.

According to TVbythenumbers.com, A&E renewed The Glades for a second season of 13 episodes! Awesome!

This week's ep called Second Chance was good, not overwhelmingly so, but good. I don't usually like eps that focus on sports of any kind but this one was very well done and also very informative, the horses weren't just background material, I actually ~learned~ stuff watching the ep!

Marriage Is Murder )

My favorite quote?

Carlos: Don't even think about it because the answer is no.
Jim: No what?
Carlos: You don't have a wife, so I'm saying it for her: No, you can't have a motorcycle.

And the ep was directed by Jonathan Frakes!

Marriage is Murder )

My favorite quote?

Jim *over the dead body of a psychic*: Either he has really slow reflexes or I see a fatal flaw in his psychic ability.

This show makes me seriously happy. It's like a piece of chocolate - SO GOOD!

And it's not the episodic plots, it's the characters. Like, in this week's ep - Doppelganger - I felt so sorry for the head-trauma!guy. They make you like even the guest stars! And for once, I'm all for the het pairing, shipping Jim and Callie so hard!

But the best part? When Jim and Carlos bicker!

Jim: She knows when she's being played.
Carlos: Not quite when she's still hanging out with you.
Jim: *pauses* You know, I was gonna ask you to join me to do some super sleuthing...
Carlos: Uh-huh?
Jim: You've hurt my feelings! *walks away, affronted*
Carlos: Pft *laughs - then pauses* Where're you going?! Yo, Mr. Sensitive!

The Girlfriend Experience )

BTW, this episode was co-written by William Rabkin, the author of all the Psych tie-ins! Neat, huh?

I just love it when Jim and Carlos bicker!

Man, I'm loving this show more and more with each ep. The whole cast gelled so fast and in such a perfect, funny way! Love how hilariously obnoxious Jim is and the way he bickers with both Carlos and Callie. I love Colleen and the way she rides Jim hard - but at the same time, she worries about him because she knows he's a good cop. I love the way Carlos and Daniel bicker. I love the family unit that Jim, Callie and Jeff make up. And I love the way Jim brings Callie in on each and every case!

Bird in the Hand )

A Perfect Storm )

Both thumbs up, peeps, both thumbs up! That's how you mesh humor and the procedural stuff! 8)

I think this is another keeper!

Pilot )

*thumbs up* That's three definite keepers - Covert Affairs, Haven, The Glades - out of four shows I tried - still not sure about Rizzoli and Isles - not a bad score!
