Sad :'(

Just read that Jonathan Crombie died: link. Sad, sad news. I adored him as Gilbert Blythe on Anne of Green Gables. He and Megan Folly WERE Gilbert and Anne for me. Nobody has or ever will measure up to them. I remember how I laughed at Anne and Gilbert's antics, how I feared for Gilbert when he became sick and Anne cried at his bed... ;_; And now the actor's dead. And so young, too. Very, very sad...

I think I might re-read the book in his honor, it's been too long since I read it as it is.

I guess the gods of TV must have heard me talking about dropping old shows and getting new ones because TNT just canceled Perception, the Eric McCormack crime series: link. Oh well...

And I seem to have fallen under the spell of Daniel Gillies. He's doing... things to me! I'm loving him as Elijah on The Originals. And now I'll have to get my hands on Saving Hope, the Canadian supernatural doctor show - which I wanted to see anyway, because, you know, Erica Durance and Michael Shanks are in it. But now? With Daniel Gillies playing the third lead? \o/ But sheesh on a pogo stick. Daniel is three days a week on the set of TO, then another three on the set of SH, bouncing back and forth between the US and Canada. Man, I'm exhausted just thinking about it O.o

Also, The Originals are getting their own tie-in novels! Starting in January, so far, three books are planned, set in New Orleans in the 18th century, chronicling how the Mikaelsons helped build the town and ruled it for many years! \o/

And speaking of tie-ins, did you know that Grimm and The Beauty and the Beast have their own tie-in series, too? \o/

Give me a hand, my dear friends. Mystery movie series - and by "movie" I mean at least 60min. long episodes, not regular 40-50min. I need your tips. Gimme!

I know of:

American: Columbo, Donald Strachey*, Jane Doe, McBride, Mystery Woman, Nero Wolfe, Perry Mason...

British: Cadfael, Foyle's War, George Gently, Hercules Poirot, Lewis, Luther, Lynley, Marple, Midsomer Murders, Morse, Sherlock, Vera, Wallander...

Australian: Miss Fisher...

Canadian: Detective Murdoch*...

German: Der Bulle von Tölz, Mit Herz und Handschellen*/**, Tatort...

* These feature a gay character in a prominent role (AFAIK).
** These were attached to a regular series.

I really don't like Lauren. And not because I'm all, eww, she's getting in the way of my OTP, or something similarly stupid. I just think that Dyson was right: Bo shouldn't trust her. I mean, I'm aware that Dyson is also lying to her but at least he's trying to protect her and he is trying to keep his distance, not lure Bo in. I mean, Bo's shocked face when she realized Lauren slept with her only because Ash told her so... Ugh.

I wonder when or even if Bo will realize that she's actually hurting Dyson when she sleeps with him. Like, not emotionally, but physically hurting him and he's just keeping mum about it because he knows she needs the energy to heal. Even Kenzi noticed, for cryin' out loud!

I just love Bo's insatiable appetite for sex! It's such a novelty! Men, women, threesomes... anything goes for her. And nobody's judging her, least of all Kenzi. And it's awesome!

And I adore the friendship between Dyson and Kenzi. When Kenzi got sick, the way he cared for her. And she's so tiny next to him, it was so sweet when she curled up into him. She looked like a kitten. But I also love the friendship between Kenzi and Trick, and between Kenzi and Hale. Kenzi herself can be a little obnoxious from time to time, but she's wonderfully open about her likes and dislikes.

I was contemplating what to watch... I didn't feel like watching any of the currently running US shows - I like a lot of them but none of them tickled my fancy today. And so I chose Lost Girl. I have planned to watch it for months if not years. I remember seeing the first episode and not being all that impressed, especially with the main male hero. But then... then I watched The Listener where Kris Holden-Ried has the recurring part of Sgt. McCluskey's ex-husband - and I SAW LIGHT!

Man! How could I have ever been NOT attracted to this man? Yeah, he's not Ken-doll pretty but man... he's so tall and lean, and his voice is pure velvet... And his smile!!! *_* And I just adore the relationship between his character, Dyson, and the main heroine, the succubus Bo. When he looks at her, it's... it's like when Thor looks at Jane, with his heart in his eyes. And he turns into a wolf, a gorgeous, silver wolf!

And Bo! Rarely has there been a heroine that I liked so much! And I just love that her bisexuality not only isn't a problem, it's actually explored! Also, she kicks so much ass and as she insists, she doesn't need saving. And it's wonderful because she's so determined and relentless...

And then there are Kenzi and Lauren... And so many other characters I can't wait to explore! *happy* But mostly: BO & DYSON! That's what I call chemistry, folks!

How did I miss that? CTV picked up The Listener for season 5: link. I love the show so much and it's just too bad that only S1 is out on DVD. It's a really lovely show. Though I think S5 will be the last because Craig Olejnik who plays Toby allegedly said he would be willing to do 5 seasons tops.

Laura Vandervoort was cast as the lead, Elena, in the new Canadian supernatural show Bitten based on Kelley Armstrong's "Women of the Otherworld" novels. 13 episodes were ordered and the shooting starts next month in Toronto. Summary:

A foster child, Elena thought she finally found her “happily ever after” with her new love Clayton, but with one small bite, her life was changed forever and she was forced to survive life with the Pack as a werewolf. Years later, Elena has found refuge in Toronto, working as a photographer and dating a new man. But when bodies turn up in the backwoods of Stonehaven, the rural mansion that has served as a werewolf sanctuary for generations, the perfect life Elena has constructed begins to crumble. With the Pack threatened by an unknown predator, they turn to Elena for help. Caught between two worlds and two loves, Elena returns to Stonehaven out of duty, but once back in the fold she realizes that when push comes to shove, like any true alpha female, she’ll stop at nothing to defend her family.

Might be cool, I'm just not sure if Laura Vandervoort has the gravitas for a lead. I do like her a lot, she does sweet extremely well. I'm also a bit tired of love-triangles. But I'll definitely give it a try.

I know that there were people on my flist who watched the show. Sorry, folks, Space Channel just canceled the show. There won't be S2. Explanation: bad ratings. Source.
