... but I really need to get this off my chest. So, the Turkish military tried to stage a coup last night to get rid of president Erdogan. The military in Turkey is viewed as the protector of secularism and of the ideals of Kemmal Ataturk who was the first one to bring real democracy into Turkey.

And they lost. The whole opposition was arrested and Erdogan is back, more powerful than ever. You can't imagine just how bad this is. He's trying to turn Turkey, which is the door to Europe, into an Islamist country with sharia law and he's treating the Kurds the way Hitler treated Jews. The Czech Republic is refusing to extradite any Turkish or Kurdish criminals caught in our country to Turkey, that's how bad the regime is over there!

And the kicker? You know who supported the coup? Trump. You know who supported Erdogan? Fucking Obama. I'm starting to think I would prefer Trump's honest idiocy over Obama's two-faced falsehood. And since that fool Merkel is attempting to blow the door wide open for Turkey to join the EU, I'm also starting to think that the UK did a wise thing when they decided to leave the EU. Because if an Islamist dictatorship like Turkey is allowed into the EU, then I'll sign any petition that will get my country OUT of that pact with the devil.

For those interested in what's going on in my country, here's a New York Times article that breaks down the main events: link (thank you for the link, [livejournal.com profile] beccaabbott!). And our Prime Minister, that frickin' moron, sees "no reason to resign" X( Are you kidding me?!

OMG!

What's happening in my country?! The Organized Crime Division raided half the government here! Like hundreds of cops storming and locking up various offices, politicians, lawyers and lobbyists arrested, the head of our military intelligence service arrested, banks searched! It's like... it's like watching a thriller enfold in real time O.O Wow...

I don't really follow politics. All that the morons up there do is piss you off and ruin your day and no matter for whom you vote, they all turn out the same in the end, protecting only their own butts and loaded pockets. But even in the light of our country's nuttiness, the nonsense that some US politicians spout makes us pause incredulously. Yes, I'm talking about Mitt Romney and his band of idiots.

Madeleine Albright pretty much summed up my opinion:

"I'm not sure I'm going to state this exactly right. But I think there are some who believe they are actually protecting women, you know, and that it is better for women to be taken care of. I think women want to take care of themselves, and I think having a voice in how that is done is very important. And frankly, I don’t understand -- I mean, I'm obviously a card-carrying Democrat -- but I can't understand why any woman would want to vote for Mitt Romney, except maybe Mrs. Romney."

What a lady! And I couldn't agree more. What woman would vote for a party that wants to see her barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen, taking care of her husband's needs, forbidden to think and decide for herself? It's madness!

Today at 12:56 CET, the European Parliament decided whether ACTA would be ultimately rejected or whether it would drag on into uncertainty. In a 478 to 39 vote, the Parliament decided to reject ACTA once and for all. This means that the deceptive treaty is now dead globally. Source.

Gosh, Europe, you did something right for once! *throws confetti*
