katikat... but I really need to get this off my chest. So, the Turkish military tried to stage a coup last night to get rid of president Erdogan. The military in Turkey is viewed as the protector of secularism and of the ideals of Kemmal Ataturk who was the first one to bring real democracy into Turkey.
And they lost. The whole opposition was arrested and Erdogan is back, more powerful than ever. You can't imagine just how bad this is. He's trying to turn Turkey, which is the door to Europe, into an Islamist country with sharia law and he's treating the Kurds the way Hitler treated Jews. The Czech Republic is refusing to extradite any Turkish or Kurdish criminals caught in our country to Turkey, that's how bad the regime is over there!
And the kicker? You know who supported the coup? Trump. You know who supported Erdogan? Fucking Obama. I'm starting to think I would prefer Trump's honest idiocy over Obama's two-faced falsehood. And since that fool Merkel is attempting to blow the door wide open for Turkey to join the EU, I'm also starting to think that the UK did a wise thing when they decided to leave the EU. Because if an Islamist dictatorship like Turkey is allowed into the EU, then I'll sign any petition that will get my country OUT of that pact with the devil.
