I'm not sure if I'm happy with how the anime ended. And I'm not talking of Inaho and Seylum, spoilers! ) I'm speaking of Slaine. He was a lying snake who would've betrayed his grandmother to get what he wanted, the way he treated the princess, both princesses, actually, he lied to them, used them, imprisoned them... yet insisted he was doing it for them, for their sake - that's the talk of an abuser, a psychopath right there. Yet I didn't like how he ended. spoilers! )

So, to sum it up, great mecha, fantastic action, amazing music - but the ending left me a bit... eh.

Good God, I hate Slaine. So very very much. He's always wallowing, always doing the wrong thing, because he can never choose a side. He wants this, no, he wants that, no, he wants this after all. For frickin' sake! He wants to save the Princess, but he helps the Count who planned her assassination, which leads to the Princess getting shot, then he shoots the Count after all, and then he shoots Inaho... of course, after all, by that point, he pretty much fucked up everything he could so why not that, too? I really hope he gets his due in the end and someone kills that brat. Wow. I don't think I've ever disliked an anime character as much as I dislike him.

But I love Inaho. He does what needs to be done, regardless of the consequences for him or his friends. As he says, they are in war. And that means killing. And that means dying. And if he has to send his friends on a suicide mission, he will do it and he will take the point. And he likes the Princess but he will risk her life in a heartbeat because he knows that not one life is more important than saving thousands, millions of innocents. And I admire that.

So, on the one hand, there's Slaine, the most indecisive person ever to be born, and on the other, there's Inaho, who makes a decision and sticks with it. God, I hope Inaho kills that dick!

I'm in love. Seriously. This anime is breathtaking. All the mecha action just blows my mind. And I especially like Inaho, the way he's always so calm and collected, even under high pressure. Slaine... I'm not sure what to think of yet, but Inaho is amazing. He reminds me of Ender, the way he always cooks up a strategy on the spot and it's brilliant! I mean, he has already killed two of the Knights, with the support of his friends and sister, of course. But wow! I just can't get enough of this series...

So, Angel Beats! keeps swinging between super serious and LOL-tastic:

Seriously!

I started watching the anime Angel Beats! It kind of reminds me of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya: One sane character in a sea of nutjobs in a world that doesn't make any sense, running a sarcastic commentary on what's going on around him. Hilarious.

Last night, I bought a Streamload account. I want to try it out since I've heard lotsa good about it. Although I wouldn't have believed what they were asking for in the sign-in form. The phone number on the back of the card? What for? I mean, I live in the Czech Republic. Do they want to call across the ocean just to ask about one credit card? O.o Not even Amazon goes that far!

And I plundered my bank account and bought books for almost 100 $ via Amazon!

"Earthian 3" by Yun Kouga
"Yellow 3" Makoto Tateno
"The Ruins of Ambrai" by Melanie Rawn
"The Last Mortal Man" by Syne Mitchell
"Ritual of Proof" by Dara Joy
"Moon Called" by Patricia Briggs

I can't wait to get them! *bounces*

I almost caught up on the Angel Heart anime. It's really good. And getting better. I didn't like the first arc much. But now, that Ryo is back to being City Hunter, it's really cool. And this anime has the most cool music!

Also trying to catch up on GunXSword. I started downloading SHRIMP's version and it's not half bad :) Thank you for the tip, Sharon *kisses* But I completely forgot how silly some of the baddies are XD

And it was almost 30°C in the shadow here today *melts* Hothothot!

Torrents!

Ayakashi ~ Japanese Classic Horror - ep 1

This series sounds rather interesting. It reminds me of Mushishi because it's been inspired by classic Japanese legends. You can read more here

Paradise Kiss - ep 12

Yay, I've been waiting for this one. I can't wait to find out if Caroline and George will get together or not. Oh, and in someone's LJ, I read the owner wondering if Isabelle was a "dude" or not... So, is Isabelle a transvestite? Now that the LJ user mentioned it... She looks kinda too big to be a woman... What do you think?

What? This evening. I spent two hours reorganizing my web site and I finally posted all the stories I stored away like a hamster. And all the time I tried to find a way to throttle our neighbor's dog or at least bash him over his black head! X( You see, there's been a car accident on the street in front of our house tonight. The driver was lucky, he didn't hit the tree directly but kinda managed to squeeze the car through the gap between the trunk and the sturdy metal fence. Yeah, they had to call an ambulance for him and his passenger but they were alive and standing on their own. But because of all the humbuck our neighbor's dog started to bark and didn't stop until an hour ago or so. He is a cute little doggie but has the voice of a banshee - you feel like tearing your hair out after a couple of minutes!

But on the bright side, emule finally downloaded the first episode of the AD Police anime for me. The TV series, not the OVAs. And I really like it. It's like an US cop show set in the future where the AD Police department fights against wayward robots. And Keiji and Hans, the main characters and partners, are kinda like fire and water. Too bad that there are so few sources for this series. I can't wait to see the second ep!

Oh, and I read a fantastic Starsky and Hutch gen fic too! Plaguing Perspectives by Paula Wilshe. Set after the two-parter The Plague, it describes a really tender scene between Starsky and Hutch from Starsky's POV. Kinda reminds me of all the gen smarm in the The Sentinel fandom.

Aaaaaand, PRO7 bought Numb3rs! They'll air the first episode this Monday evening!

So, maybe the evening wasn't such a waste afterall? :)
