Obligatory ratings, of course, fast nationals only...

Pussycat Dolls (new) last week: 1.62 mil., this week: 1.57 mil.
Reaper (repeat) last week: 1.67 mil., this week: 1.72 mil.
NCIS (repeat) last week: 9.40 mil., this week: 10.21 mil.

You know that I don't like Reaper but I really don't get why it's not been renewed yet. When you compare the ratings of its repeats to the repeats of the early renewed Gossip Girl...

GoGi: 1.10 mil., 0.5/1 vs. Reaper 1.72 mil., 0.6/2

I mean, I have nothing against GoGi, but come on! Compared to that, Reaper is a smashing hit!

Questions I would ask various SPN con attendees...

Jared: "Sam slouches a lot... Was it the director's idea, to make Sam appear even younger, or did you come up with this characteristic yourself?" Sam looks awesome and twice as tall when he straightens! And the shoulders! *swoons*

Jensen: "Why the beard when you're off work?" Come on, that man is gorgeous when clean shaven!

Kripke: "I like demons but will we see the return of some urban legends any time soon? Or maybe a big foot or a unicorn?" I can so see Dean's expression: O.o

Frederic: "The YED's manic expression and way of talking - was it your idea?"

Chad: "Do you think that Jo and Ash would ever make a good couple or would those two drive each other batty first?"

Steve: "I love your song Pinata Novia. Do you plan to write more calming, soothing songs? Because they are awesome!"

If you could make a spin-off of Supernatural, what would it be about?

I would choose the Roadhouse. The rebuild Roadhouse, that is. Not the flattened, exploded one. The main characters? Ellen, Jo and Ash. Jo would be hunting with a female friend and not a guy that would automatically take over the role of the protector while she would do the research. No, I would like to see two girls work together, kick ass but also learn where their limits are. And I would give them bikes!

What about you?

And [livejournal.com profile] storydivagirl is hosting a Supernatural friending meme. Go and join!

ETA: Jared canceled his Asylum attendance because of filming obligations.

"Why the beard when you're off work?"

I asked a male friend this exact question and his whole response can be summed up to 'because we're lazy'. Which if you think about it, I completely understand. I wouldn't shave my legs if I could get away with it because it's a pain in the butt.

Hmm. Spinoff... Ooo, I know. Mary before John and what she was doing that Azazel knew her/she knew him.

I don't like to shave my legs either but on the other hand, it forces me to rub cream into my whole body and not just my arms. That way, I keep my skin from drying out.

Mary before John and what she was doing that Azazel knew her/she knew him.

Did you see Kripke's panel? I don't want to spoil you...

I probably wouldn't mind it so much if the hair didn't grow back so dang fast. But true, I do like having soft, moisturized skin. Ah the things we do.

I did not see it but I love spoilers! So spoil away! :3 *YAYMARYBACKSTORYOMG*

In S4, he would like to make an episode that would show Mary and John in their teenage years and also explain how and why Mary knew the YED :D

*g* That would be deffinitely interesting, wouldn't it? And they wouldn't even need JDM to come back for that.

From: [identity profile] bendtothesun.livejournal.com
Not that I wouldn't mind JDM coming back for it. But yeah it would be cool except I'm a little leary with how they'd deal with the issue of Vietnam. Possibly before he gets shipped out then?

I think so. I don't think that Kripke would want to open that can of worms...

And I like JDM very much. I adored him in TV series The Burning Zone!

Your questions are much more fun than some of the questions that were asked. Seriously, what's your favorite WORD??? o__O

As for a spinoff, I'd like to see something set in the What In And What Should Never Be universe. However, it would have to have Jared and Jensen in it, so I'm not sure that's a good spinoff idea. XD But omg, I would love it. I want to see Sam and Jessica at Stanford together, and Dean and Carmen's life, and Dean trying to repair his relationship with Sam, and you know... added Wincest! It would all be very soapy and dramatic, hahaha. Lots of boykissing.

Date: 2008-04-02 08:05 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] katikat.livejournal.com
I would love to see Sam and Dean all normal. And I liked Carmen a lot. I would like to see them with their significant other's but the show would have to concentrate on them trying to repair their brotherly relationship :D In that, I wouldn't even have to have the Wincest ;P

I can so imagine it. Dean stabbed and in a hospital, them all worried. Dean totally traumatized by what happened to him - I mean, he had his body hijacked by a Dean from a different reality. And that Dean woke up his forgotten brotherly love for Sam. He wouldn't want Sam to just leave and Sam, pissed but worried, would decide to go away with Dean for some time, to take a vacation somewhere, just the two of them, to try and clear the mess with the supernatural stuff that Sam blamed on fumes or whatever when the EMTs asked... I could so see the two of them in some cabin at a lake, Dean still hurt, Sam worried...

"I like demons but will we see the return of some urban legends any time soon? Or maybe a big foot or a unicorn?"
Yes. I really miss the urban legend focus of season one, when everything was so warm and fuzzy and innocent. And it always feels weird saying that, since season one seemed plenty angsty enough at the time, but man, those really were simpler days!

I think that S1 was much scarier than what we see now. Now, the eps are gory and not scary. I mean, in S1, Kripke was scaring us by hinting at the dangers, not letting blood run in buckets and they were so proud of it too. That was a real horror. This sometimes feels like a cheap B movie :(

Date: 2008-04-02 08:32 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] llywela13.livejournal.com
There was definitely a different tone and atmosphere in season one than we have now. Creepier, less gory, but also simpler. There was less mytharc to accommodate. More urban legends. Man, I miss them!

I prefer creepy to gory any day, as well. What you don't see, or only catch a glimpse of out of the corner of your eye, is always so much scarier than what they show you in technicolour gore. Our imaginations always come up with so much worse than TV budgets and censors will allow! Oddly enough, we had a huge long conversation about this exact subject in the VIP lounge at BuffyForums only this afternoon.

"Sam slouches a lot... Was it the director's idea, to make Sam appear even younger, or did you come up with this characteristic yourself?"
I always assumed the slouching was Sam/Jared trying to look shorter! A lot of really tall guys do it, uncomfortable with towering over everyone they meet. 'Twould be interesting to know if it's directorial or something Jared threw in for Sam off his own bat, because it does fit his personality so well.

My dad and brother both have beards. Dad as a conscious 'style' decision, but my brother out of sheer laziness. And because he hates shaving, and suffers badly from shaving rash, no matter what he uses to combat it.

What you don't see, or only catch a glimpse of out of the corner of your eye, is always so much scarier than what they show you in technicolour gore.

I think that's true for some people, but gore tends to get a more visceral reaction out of me most of the time, and that feeling of being terrified is scarier to me. That said, I tend to be more of a fan of suspense horror - I don't love things you don't see as much as the things you DO see after a great deal of tension and anxiety getting to them. What you see might be gory, or it might just be horrifying without being gore. Whatever it is, it's the journey getting there I love. :D

Some people prefer what you don't see, some prefer to see. I know many a person who's been begging for more gore since day one, and are practically skipping with happiness this season. :D (I remember people asking for this over in the wishlists at [livejournal.com profile] spn_gleeweek, too, before the start of season 3 ...)

Me? More gore, less gore, it doesn't bother me either way. <3

I would very much prefer to go back to the scary blueism of S1 :) Dude, good old times *sighs* I know that Kripke won't go back on the gore but I hope that he will get back the blue lightning of S1, at least :) As he said, the sun shine was an experiment. It just... It doesn't even feel like a horror anymore *pouts*

See, to me, there's nothing inherently scary about gore. It's gruesome, and often makes me cringe and hide my eyes - that visceral reaction you mention - but it doesn't scare me. On the other hand, knowing that there's something unknown and unseen lurking just out of eyeshot, someplace hidden just waiting to pounce, that does send chills down my spine. Fear in the eyes and voices of the characters, dark shadows seen in the corner of the eye and flitting instantly out of sight once more, the build up of suspense - that's the scary part. The gore, when it comes, just doesn't have the same kind of impact.

Horses for courses, eh!

I prefer scary to gory too. Gore can be more disgusting than scary sometimes.

I would like to know about the slouching too. I mean, when Jensen parodied Jared/Sam on SPN he made such a funny slouchy figure that it made me thinking. Was it a character trait?

Whenever I see the J2 scruffy, I want to grab my razor and shave them :D I like men clean shaven. Especially someone so handsome, be it Jensen or Jared :)

My Drew Fuller always lets his beard grow when he is between works because it is his time to be lazy. Maybe this is it for Jensen as well? Remember when most of the CW guys appeared with scruffs/beards?

Holy crap, I'm stunned by the ratings. I hope CW will pull through - their advertisers will NOT be happy with these numbers. Doesn't matter what spin they use, these numbers don't cut it.

I want to do the SPN friending meme, because I want to make more friends in the SPN fandom, but eh, I'm shy *hides*. Fine, FINE, you caught me. The real reason is cuz I'm lazy. I shall keep the meme in check, and see if I can pick up a few SPN friends along the way.

RE: Jared and Asylum.
Dude, the boy is busy as hell. I feel he's already doing so much, so I hope fans will realize that and cut him some slack. As long as he's making the show, I'm satisfied. *loves on Jared*

Yeah, in the forum where I get the ratings, they are always "bye bye, CW" and "the CW will fold"... I just don't get why they won't renew Reaper when it has better ratings than GoGi in every category except for the 18-34 demo and that's the one demo they are after. Reaper's best ep had 1.0/3 there. SPN's best ep this season 1.4/4...

Hehe, you should do the meme, it's fun! And they even offer you the coding with all the html pre-set! :D

I suspected that he would cancel his appearance as soon as he announced the Friday 13th movie. They will start filming on April 21st already O.O I wish to have this boy's stamina, really *dead*

That is so cool that even the repeat of NCIS gets that high of ratings.

I thought he probably would cancel, because that boy does not like doing cons.

NCIS is like so cool. I love the series. It just makes me feel good. Their banter, their friendship... That's why I'm really happy that it does so well in the ratings!

I felt sorry for him this time but overall, he seems to be enjoying himself at the cons - like in Dallas. But he does like to spend the hiatus working (he starts filming Friday 13th on April 21st already, that boy has lotsa stamina, let me tell you) so, even if this sounds weird, he does have more time for the cons during the filming of SPN. I think that Kripke is more ready to clear his schedule since cons bring attention.

I love John. So my spin-off would be an SPN prequel in which we have young John in his early days. The pilot would be pre-YED, so we'd have Mary and wee!Dean and baby!Sam, and subsequently we'd have Caleb and Jim and young Bobby, Ellen and her husband and of course, young Sam and Dean!

ps sorry for the multiple edits
