I'm so happy to see that Yoroshiku continues subbing Tactical Roar. I usually don't like anime with lotsa big-breasted girls and a healthy dose of panty-shots but this one is actually interesting. It's set in the future and it's about a military ship manned with female stuff. There is some girl-on-girl action there and a kind of incestuous relationship between the captain and her brother. But there is action too, terrorists and battle scenes. I'm not even sure why I fell in love with this one. It just appeals to me, just like Simoun which is about females only too :)

I'm thinking about switching from Amazon to Barnes&Noble.

Pros:
--> their shipping dates are much shorter than Amazon's
--> their delivery dates are shorter too
--> they allow me to buy used books
--> they have a much better "search" function than Amazon
--> Amazon is really pissing me off!

Contras:
--> I have to pay $ 25 a year to receive the 10 % discount
--> Amazon's books are sometimes cheaper
--> there is no 4-for-3 offer there

*ponders* Does anybody have any experience with Barnes&Noble? Are they really as good as they seem to be?

At the moment, I'm "patiently" waiting for Amazon to graciously deliver these books to me:

"W Juliet 1" by Emura
"Petshop of Horrors 1" by Matsuri Akino
"Fruits Basket 1" by Natsuki Takaya
"Sengoku Nights 1" by Kei Kusunoki
"Ouran High School Host Club 2 and 3" by Bisco Hatori
"Fantasy Lover" by Sherrilyn Kenyon
"X-kai 1" by Asami Tohjoh
"Full Moon Rising" by Keri Arthur
"Let Dai 3" by Sooyeon Won
"Night Pleasures" by Sherrilyn Kenyon
"Grave Sight" by Charlaine Harris
"Hands Off! 7" by Katsumoto Kasane

I think that you now understand, why I'm so pissed at Amazon!

I still haven't downloaded the first episode of Death Note. Everybody seems to be so gung-ho about it but I'm not. I've never felt compelled to even read the scanlations. Don't know why *shrugs* The plot just doesn't grab me.

The new proofreader at work totally screwed up my translation of Fiona McIntosh's "Myrren's Gift". So now, I have to re-read the whole thing again and correct the mess she created! And you must know that I really really don't like this book. Like really really not. And when I'm finished with that, I will have to translate the other two books in her "The Quickening" trilogy. Both of them have 600 pages... Two months of pure torture, I tell ya X(

Sting's "Moon Over Bourbon Street" is the perfect song for a Were-lover like me :P

If Borders/Waldenbooks sells worldwide, you might want to try them. They do have buy 4 get the 5th free manga sales from time to time instore, so they may have the same offer online. They also do not charge you to join their discount program.

I checked out the Borders/Waldenbooks site and I don't know, it looks kind of plain and it's not as easy to find title there as it is on bn.com. Hm, I will have to ponder about that a bit more :D

I don't go online for B&N or Borders/Waldenbooks (as I have them right near my house), so I don't know if it'll be the same thing. Borders/Waldenbooks don't charge to be in their member club and every week on Wednesday (usually), they have extra discount coupons. But my Borders aren't up to date with mangas as B&N is, which is why I tend to go there. While you do have to pay 25$ to be in B&N's club, at the rate you buy, I think you're able to save that much in no time. I know I have. Plus they occasionally send you a discount coupon for another 15% off.

Thinking about it, the 4-for-3 or 5-for-4 offer is essentially saving 20%-25% on the whole purchase. *scratches her head* Okay I don't know where I'm going with that. XD;; Good luck with whatever you choose though!

Lucky lucky you to have these bookstores so close to you. I pay almost more for the shipping than for the books themselves :( I will maybe try the bn.com site. It looks good.

*clings to you* You always remind me why I don't take things for granted. I hope B&N would work out for you though. ^o^

Though I do sometimes order from Amazon, I prefer barnesandnoble.com. I'm not a member but I think their service is faster and more reliable.

I will see how soon Amazon will ship the books to me. But if they really piss me off, I will switch to bn.com and pay for the membership.

Since I always use amazon.de or bol.de to get all my books and manga (that I don't buy from various bookstores and comic shops in town) I can't really help you with your amazon troubles. *sighs* I've never had any problems so far but I would be pissed, too if I were in your position. But maybe I can help with one of your future orders, we'll see.

Maybe there's one reason for you to watch Death Note: check out Miyano Mamoru (also known as Tamaki Suoh's seiyuu) in his new role as Light. He's creepy when he laughs evilly... *shudders* I haven't had the time to read the manga but I will follow the anime since I kinda like the concept.

I see you ordered the first volume of Fruits Basket, are you new to the series? I'm just curious because I spend a whole day last week to read the scanlations (from volume 15 up to capter 132) and it was pure bliss. Even though the series will end soon, I guess.

I'm not really that gung-ho about Death Note. I don't even feel like watching it. Maybe because it was so discussed and highly anticipated. I didn't even like reading the manga/scanlations in the past. And now that I know how volume 7 (I think) ends, my aversion grew even more pronounced :(

I know Fruits Basket the anime but this will be the first manga in the series I bought. You know, lately, I almost stopped reading scanlations and buy the manga I want to read. It's strange because in the past, I did just the opposite thing. I just like to have it on paper in my hands. Paint me weird :P

Mh, I know what you mean. Sometimes all the hype around one series can be a turn-off. I have no idea how Death Note is going to progress, so I'll just follow the mass on this one. And there's still a lot of other series out there.

*grins* If you have only seen the anime then you can look forward to a lot of story ahead. My favourite character is Shigure and I'm very pleased how the last chapters with him have turned out. Although there is a difference betwenn his character in the anime and the manga.

Yep, the amount of scanlations I read is not as high as it was. I also pefer the actual books. I mainly download scans from longer series that won't be published in the near future.

I'm quite looking forward to this manga. My favorite character is Yuki. And probably Momiji. I'm all for the tortured characters :D Oh, and as a "couple" I like the ShigureXAyameXHatori threesome. They so fit together :D

Oh, with Furuba you get a whole set of tortured characters for free! Since everyone suffers from the curse... My gosh, after reading so much I realized that I really like all the Furuba characters.

And the Mabudachi treesome is awesome. Poor Hatori though, he is the only sane person in this pairing. Not that much fic around for that one, sadly enough.
