Ed Brubaker, who wrote the "Winter Soldier" comic book on which Captain America: Winter Soldier is based, had only good things to say about the movie's script:

“... I got to go out to Marvel Studios a couple months ago and read one of the later drafts of the script. I went out to dinner with [directors Joe and Anthony Russo] and talked about the project and gave them feedback on what I liked or didn’t like or what parts didn’t work. I mean, the script I read was fucking fantastic. It was the best Marvel movie.”

He followed up that rather bold claim by discussing his reaction to the script in greater detail. “It was really strange because [the script] feels like my comic while not really telling the same story as my comic. It’s got moments here and there where I was like, ‘hey, I wrote that.’ But mostly, it’s not what people think it’s going to be. But the tone of it was so close to what [artist] Steve [Epting] and I were doing on that comic in the first few years, where it feels like an espionage story almost more than a superhero story [and] there’s tons of action in it. I can’t wait to see what they do with it.”

Yay, Dylan O'Brien was just cast in a sci-fi movie The Maze Runner. He will play Thomas, "one of a group of teens who wake up in a maze with no memory of how they got there. He then searches for answers and a way out." The movie is based on James Dashner's novel trilogy. It was reported by Deadline; for obvious reasons I can't link to the article.

That's so, so great! I'm so happy for him. Seriously, it's slightly pathetic how fond I am of this kid - yes, kid, he's 10 years younger than me. I hope he has an awesome career ahead of him!

Ella Enchanted is a stupid movie. I mean it. I hate modern reimaginings of classic fairy tales. When they turn them into epic adventures like Snow White and the Huntsman, fine. Great even. But modern reimaginings? Stories where there are malls and Disney like singing and dancing and everything is all cutesy? Eh. Just... EH!

You know why I bought this movie? For Hugh Dancy only. He's the best part too. Yes, Anne Hathaway played her part really well, from her obedience to her desperation when she was ordered to kill Char, but... Hugh Dancy was so incredibly, incredibly sweet. I have no idea what it is about him that, even when he kicks ass, you feel... protective of him. I mean, this, Blood & Chocolate, Hannibal... someone's always protecting his character. And I gobble it with a spoon, he does vulnerable so well :P

Oh, and Cary Elwes! He was in this! I wouldn't have recognized him! Wow!

Mumbles, Rocknrolla

Mumbles is simply precious, so laid back and cool. One of my favorite scenes is the one where One Two gets all pissy and tries to tell Mumbles that there's something Mumbles doesn't know about Handsome Bob. And Mumbles replies, cool as a cucumber, "He's a puff." And One Two becomes all flustered and yelly and Mumbles tells him that it does not matter that Bob is gay, only that he's a good person, the best. That everybody should strive to be as good a man as Handsome Bob is. Amazingly powerful and made even better thanks to the awesome Idris Elba!
