Ichinomiya Kantarou, Tactics

Oh, Kantarou! I wanted to hug him so hard. Always so lonely, with just the supernatural beings to keep him company. So lonely that he even woke an "ogre eating tengu" and named him to have someone who would never leave him. Gosh, I just loved him so much. He was so sweet and cute and kind - yet he could be so hard and cruel too when needed. He was so, so amazing - and yet always so heartbreaking...

Simon Pegg, Eddie Marsan... and MARTIN FREEMAN! Gosh, isn't he the cutest? All slick and buttoned up while the others look like slackers? I bet he will be hilarious. I just love it that Simon Pegg and Nick Frost keep casting the same actors in their movies, Martin Freeman and Bill Nighy among others, like in Hot Fuzz and now in The World's End. BTW, the synopsis...

20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World's End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind's. Reaching The World's End is the least of their worries.

I finally, FINALLY watched Taxi, the original French movie, not the floppy American version. I've had it on DVD for years! And why didn't anybody tell me that Marion Cotillard was in it?!

The beginning was quite boring. It didn't really get going till Daniel and Émilien met. The movie was all about them, their unlikely friendship. It was a thing of beauty, the way Daniel stuck up for him and helped him catch the bad guys. And the funniest bit was how Émilien and his mother totally took over Daniel's life, turning it upside down.

The best cinematic moment? The final race against the Germans. I loved the music, it didn't overwhelm the action, it let the race speak for itself. That was fantastic!
