Day 29: Least favorite enemy

The IOA - "International Oversight Advisory". Yes, I always considered them an enemy and a really annoying one. Seriously, bureaucrats residing a galaxy away should have the power to tell me what to do when I live in a war zone and they sit at home on their collective ass, safe and sound? Meh. Really hated that organization since they came up with it in SG-1 :(

Synopsis... )

Review: Very similar to Simon R. Green's "Nightside". This quirky adventure is based on funny dialogs rather than on real action or suspense. Thanks to a little green elf who hires him to find a stolen unicorn, PI John Justin Mallory finds himself in an alternate New York where there are yellow elephants instead of taxis, horses talk and stuffed animals don't actually realize they are already dead, where hawkers sell suntan lotion in the middle of a blizzard and there's a Department of a Redundancy Department, among other things. Hilarity ensues, of course.

But what I love most is, that amidst all the crazy stuff, Mallory is still a rather ruthless man, punishing and getting rid of anybody who betrays him or hurts his friends and without remorse too. Thanks to Mallory's personality, the book feels grounded, not just... out there.

I just discovered Lizz Wright. Man, beautiful and so talented. My favorite song: My Heart

Johari Window: Martin Cummins, in such a small role, puh :( And that was young Shawn from Psych! I loved the beginning, when Walter refused to go inside the mall because there could have been flying monkeys in there, LOL!

What Lies Below: I loved how worried everybody was about Peter, the way Olivia wanted to help so, so much and yet, she couldn't touch Peter because she would've caught it too! And Walter, when he found out that Peter was infected... Astrid was rocking awesome! Man, I love the girl. The way she stuck with Walter even knowing they were about to kill them! Loved the episode!

The Bishop Revival: Poor Walter. I mean, I understood Peter's knee-jerk reaction, his need to hurt Walter after everything he and his mom went through because of him, but still... When Walter said "Apology not accepted," I cringed. And when Walter then told Olivia that he would do anything to protect his family, wow! Also, I LOVED the way Walter drove, ha!

I'm really loving all the female characters in this series. Wow, two series in a row where I can say that, Warehouse 13 and Fringe.
