♦ Ben McKenzie was cast as Lt. Jim Gordon in the new Fox show Gotham: link. Good, I have liked him since The OC, he's a sweet guy and a great actor.

♦ Paul Bettany was cast as The Vision in The Avengers: Age of Ultron: link. Sweet.

Lewis will have another season after all - thank you, [livejournal.com profile] denorios - six 60 min. episodes: link. Interesting! I thought the actors wanted to quit. I'm glad that it will be back. I like them a LOT!

♦ The sequel to Now You See Me will start filming this September: link. I hope Mark Ruffalo is back. I loved him in the first movie!!!

♦ Jesse Eisenberg was cast as Lex Luthor in the new Superman movie? Link. Well, that's... different. Old and creeky Batman and young and upstart Lex Luthor? I... am not so sure about it.

How did I not know this? This is apparently old news, from June/July last year. And I just found out. The upcoming 7th season of Lewis will be the show's last.

Laurence Fox has revealed that the seventh series of ITV1 detective drama Lewis will be the show's last.

(...)

"Kev and I have decided we want to do other things, otherwise it all gets a bit samey," he told The Daily Telegraph.

And not just that - I wouldn't actually mind the cancellation that much since it was the actors' decision. But instead of three 90 min. long movies, there will be six 45 min. long episodes. And Laurence Fox's Hathaway will be in only 2-3 of them, Lewis' is namely getting a new side-kick. Really? REALLY?!

Pardon my French, but for fuck's sake, they couldn't have kept the duo together for 6 measly episodes and give us a nice ending? Why introduce a new main character for just a handful of eps? I at least hope that Hathaway's departure will lead to Lewis quitting his job or something. This show's best feature has always been the friendship between Lewis and Hathaway. If they poop on that, I will kick someone in the kisser! :-/

I was glad to see that Hathaway actually learned something and came clean to Lewis about calling the victim's father, even though it went pretty much pear-shaped, the thing with the father and the murder. And that Lewis told him it wasn't his fault. On the other hand, Lewis was keeping secrets from Hathaway this time around - well, he knew exactly what Hathaway's reaction would be. Like in the final scene, when Hathaway told him to let it go - but then he stuck around and helped out. Oh, how I love their friendship.

The best quotable this time?

Lewis: I've noticed, Hathaway, you always call me 'sir' when you say something mean.

LOL! And then Hathaway blamed it on 'public school'!

Oh, oh, and the squash game at the beginning! So funny! Hathaway pretend to not count their score but Lewis knew it was BS. LOL! 8-1 for Hathaway! Ha!

Aaaaaaaaand I'm done with S2!

Wonderful episode, though very, very sad. I can't even imagine living with such a guilt as Hathaway carried. I mean, he was studying to be a priest, he was just saying what they taught him to say, but what it lead to in the end...

I loved how completely nonplussed Lewis was by homosexuality - when he said that if his own son was gay, it wouldn't change anything, I cheered! What a wonderful man.

The scene where Lewis and Hathaway had their first real fight, with shouting and hand-waving and blaming - that actually hurt. It hurt to see how betrayed Lewis was by Hathaway's secrecy, by his lies. Lewis didn't mind all the stuff around, but he couldn't handle that Hathaway lied. Lewis would've covered for him, he would've helped him! But instead of coming clean, Hathaway lied... Ouch.

And the fire, Lewis rushing to Hathaway's rescue... Loved it!

As sad as it was, there were some funny quotables there:

Lewis: Apparently, we're using too many paperclips. I've been reprimanded by Stores.
Hathaway: I'll take it very seriously, sir. From now on I'm a staples man.

Lewis: I bet that means something in Latin.
Hathaway: What makes you say that?
Lewis: This is Oxford. Everything always means something in Latin.

The most interesting thing for me was the scene in the car, when Lewis asked outright if Hathaway was gay and Hathaway answered spoilers! ) I would love to see that explored further.

My favorite guest character? Nova Rose. That girl kicked major ass, figuratively!

Look who guest starred in this episode of Lewis:

Bradley James!

It was one of his first roles and he looked gorgeous in it. He played a young boxer, an Oxford student, who became one of the suspects in Lewis' investigation. Spoilers! ) And he ran around shirtless, a LOT *_*

Lewis: One of these days, Hathaway, some ten foot Barbarella's gonna come along and make a right fool out of you. And when she does, I will be right there, ringside, laughing.

Which was Lewis' response to Hathaway's joke about Lewis' taste in women. LOL! I adore these two :)

Finally, my Lewis itch was scratched. Man, I love this show!

It's so great to see Lewis and Hathaway grow closer, become real partners, joke around together...

The best scene?

Hathaway being forced to literally watch the paint dry XD

But there were so many other, wonderful scenes and quotables, like:

Lewis: Play poker?
Hathaway: No, I play chess.
Lewis: Why doesn't that surprise me?

Innocent: You see, the principle behind a partnership such as yours is that the junior officer matures to the level of the senior rather than the senior officer should regress.

I also loved the way Hathaway handled the autistic boy, with such an infinite patience, just talking to him, gently leading him towards telling them the truth. And that Lewis, on the other hand, figured out that the boy's pictures were his way to communicate.

Man, this series is good!

-- I was so surprised to see Rachel Luttrell in NCIS, playing a JAG lawyer!

I almost wouldn't have recognized her with her hair pulled back tightly like that. I'm used to seeing her with her hair down...

-- Last night, I started craving more Lewis like whoa! I think I need to marathon S2, possibly starting today!

-- I need to catch up on NCIS:LA and then I'll be up-to-date with all my current shows. Oh, and Warehouse 13, I need to finish this season. So many shows, so little time. What a hardship ;P

-- New Merlin tonight. But for the first time this season, I'm actually not looking forward to an episode. I fear a train wreck of epic proportions, based on the trailer... :(

The best episode so far, hands down! So many awesome Lewis & Hathaway moments! So many quotables!

Lewis: What's the matter with you? You crying?
Hathaway: I always cry when I know I'm going to spend the day with you, sir.

Lewis: Hathaway, find me some dead people!

Lewis: Professor, unless you talk to me, I shall stay right here asking you questions while you're trying to die elegantly.

Lewis: Here I am, sir, as promised, ruining the moment. And don't pretend to be dead, it's bad manners and it won't work.

Innocent: You wouldn't be looking so bloody smug now, would you?
Hathaway: I'm not smug, ma'am, it's just the unfortunate shape of my face.

Lewis and his inability to operate a mobile phone! And they - Lewis and Hathaway - were mistaken for a gay couple! Much to Hathaway's amusement and Lewis' annoyance! LOL!

One thing that annoyed me was the black woman who yelled at Lewis and even complained about him to his superiors because he finally lost impatience with her brat who just out of spite withheld vital information from them. Oh yes, poor, poor kid! *sarcasm* If he hadn't kept his mouth shut because he was angry at Lewis for going out with his mother, they might have saved the 2nd victim! All I could think of was "Good riddance!" when she kicked him out. Bloody cow!

Aaaaaaaand I'm done with season 1! Great series and it's getting better and better!

In this episode, we found out that Hathaway was in a speed reading course and that he was in a "band" and that his old school mates didn't know if he wanted to become Mozart or Jesus, calling him "WC" - Wolfgang/Christ. LOL! Lewis' LOOK! I just love Lewis' reactions to all the small details he keeps finding out about Hathaway. I mean, Lewis is an old school copper and Hathaway simply... confuzzles the heck outta him. But he still likes him :)

My favorite scene was the last one, when Hathaway offered Lewis an ear-bud and they listened to Hathaway's music on his iPod together. That was actually pretty sweet! Yeah, Hathaway's growing on Lewis - and they're also both smiling more!

Yes, yes. The forgotten episode :P

Being privy all the background info I missed while watching episode 101, I think I understand Lewis better now. But I have to tell you, he had the patience of a saint with his superior, I would've already told her to shove it with her attitude!

Talking about Superintendent Innocent, why are so many female characters on TV so bitchy? Is it because I'm female so I'm more sensitive to badly written female characters? Because I really do dislike or even hate many, many of them. Innocent reminds me so much of Cpt. Gates from Castle it's eerie - both jumping to conclusions, both blaming others for their own shortcomings... Unlikable cows.

Hathaway keeps being a hoot! I loved the part where he told Lewis he had been studying to become a priest before he joined the police. Lewis' expression! And then Hathaway admitted they kicked him out of the seminary - for being too frivolous! LOL! Hathaway and frivolous! And he used to row! Love the character.

Yup, still thinking this one's a keeper! :)

I started watching Lewis which our Czech TV airs under the title Vraždy v Oxfordu (The Oxford Murders). And, of course, it wasn't until I finished watching ep 101 that I noticed I skipped ep 100, where Lewis is promoted to DI. Well, duh *head/desk* Never mind, that one will be watched tomorrow!

My favorite character is Hathaway, the walking, talking encyclopedia, who dared to study in Cambridge *gasp* I know, the horror! Someone who studied in Cambridge now dares to work for the Oxford police. Yeah, I can see him being the butt of many jokes. Anyway! I love how he notices the tiny, almost unimportant details whereas Lewis is the one who usually sees the bigger picture - once he forgets about his personal issues for a moment. Lewis, I mean. But, back to Hathaway. The thing is, the actor playing him is a bit hard to understand, the way he talks, for me as a foreigner, I mean. There were places where I had to go back and watch a scene again to understand what he was saying...

The case was quite interesting and creepy! I didn't expect that person to be behind it all. And actually, it was an ingenious plan, wasn't it?

My overall impression? I think this one's a keeper. I like the main characters, their partnership and the atmosphere of the place!
