Aaaaaaaaand I'm done with Alphas! It's actually quite a good series. I don't get what people have against it. Sure, there were some dud episodes that I ffwded through but mostly? It was really good.

Spoilers! )

This show's getting more and more like X-Men, with Rosen finally growing a backbone and becoming Professor X and Parrish as Magneto.

My favorite characters? Still Gary and Rosen, with Gary taking the first place. Characters I don't like much are Hicks and Nina, their romance and their respetive angst is pretty boring. I prefer Rachel to Nina. But overall, I like the team, the way they look out for each other - like when Hicks took down that satellite dish that was making Gary cranky with its buzzing with just a baseball. That was sweet.

I'll definitely watch S2!

I didn't like these eps as much as the previous 4. Especially 105 was really, really lame. And I just don't get the Hicks/Nina ship and flirting, it's slowing the flow of the episodes.

Also, at first, I really liked Rosen but he really needs to grow a backbone soon and stop being the higher uppers' lackey. He only talks about standing up for his team - so far, we haven't seen anything of that sort. I hope it serves as a character development, that Rosen will at some point say enough! Otherwise, it's really lame.

So, I'm shifting my "favorite" status from Rosen over to Gary. Gary is awesome and Ryan Cartwright is really amazing, playing an autistic man. I'm smitten with his performance. And, as I said, I adore the special effects of his ability, it's wonderful!

My favorite guest star so far? Peter Wingfield, hands down! Man, he's still so handsome. And I adore his accent.

Totally unspoilery - I really like the song that goes with the opening credits, the lyrics "people don't understand people like me" quite embody the spirit of the show!

The pilot was good but nothing special. The second episode though - wow! That's when it really caught my interest! My favorite character is Dr. Lee Rosen - yeah, I've always been a fan of the Charles Xavier like types! - and David Strathairn is fantastic in that part. Ryan Cartwright as Gary Bell is amazing too. I love the special effects of his ability! And I love how the team clicks.

My favorite part of ep 2 was spoilers! )

So far, I'm rather happy with the show. Ep 102 definitely improved on the pilot!

SyFy renewed Alphas for S2: link. They ordered 13 episodes. Cool. Now I can actually start watching it - yes, after having been burned, I prefer to wait and see the ratings/renewal first before getting into a show. I think I'll wait for S1 to end, then marathon it in one go...

Bigger version here.

Pleasedon'tsuck. Pleasedon'tsuck. Oh, please don't suck, Alphas. If this show turned out to be a flop, I think it would break my heart a little because it's the one new series I'm really looking forward to this summer!

The book, while not purporting to be canon, is likely as close to canon as we’ll ever see to explain that missing time period." Rebecca worked closely with Kripke on this one.

The new SyFy show Alphas looks awesome! Well, at least the trailer does! Very action and team-driven! Exactly up my alley :) Premieres on July 11!
