I know that I haven't finished the "100 Favorite Book Quotes" meme yet but I haven't come across any witty book quotes in some time, so... I decided to do another 100-meme, this time "100 Favorite Scenes". I mean, no matter how much you love a movie or a show, there's always a scene or two to which you return, that you play more than once when you watch the thing. And so, I decided to post my 100 favorite scenes from... where ever. I will be posting it whenever fancy strikes, not slavishly every day. That takes the fun out of it!

#1 Snow White and the Huntsman

Gosh, I love that scene so much! It's the final scene of the movie, when Snow is crowned the queen of her land. But it's not until she sees Eric walk into the hall that her happiness becomes complete. The way she brightens up and finally accepts her due from her subjects. Man, I love it so much. Every time I watch the movie, I play this scene over and over, I can't get enough of it *_*

You know, I'm seriously sick and tired of defending my affection for these movies. I'm no stan but neither am I a hater. I like the movies exactly for what they are. And if you don't, then jolly good for you, but don't piss into my cheerios because of that! Yes, I like Twilight. Yes, I like Transformers. And yes, damn it, I consider The Hobbit the best movie of 2012. You don't? Fine. Just stop trying to undermine my enjoyment of these things! GOD FRICKIN' DAMMIT! *deep breath*

I'm glad that they fired Catherine Hardwicke and replaced her with Chris Weitz as the director. Her directing was terrible. Weitz did a much, much better job. Especially with the fight between Edward and the Volturi, that was so well done! And the music... wow, the music was amazing. It's obvious that they put much more money into this one.

Bella has never been the most stable egg in the basket but to have first one guy you count on and the other dismiss you and try to direct your life? No wonder she went totally off the rails. Sheesh. And the way neither Edward, nor Jacob seem to respect her wishes? I mean, when Bella starts to sound like the only reasonable person in the room, you obviously have a problem!

I just love the world Meyer created so much. The Volturi, a family like the Cullens, Native Americans and their legends, werewolves...

Twilight

Twilight is quite an enjoyable movie. I don't get the mass obsession it caused - on the other hand, I don't get the deep hatred either. And if you hated it, flist, quell your need to tell me, okay? I liked the movie and I like the books quite a lot too. And I prefer to see the good in things.

My favorite part of the movie, just like in the books, were the Cullens. I love them as a family, I love their intimacy, their closeness, the way they are all "one for all and all for one." And of the Cullens, I liked Carlisle and Alice best. There's just something about Carlisle... he's so incredibly gentle and compassionate, I find is quite fascinating, especially in a man who could easily be an unstoppable monster. And Alice, Alice is an adorable pixie girl.

What bothered me a lot and pulled me out of what was happening, were the weird camera angles and the way some of the scenes were set and filmed. The cheesy dialog didn't help either but with a better setting and a better guidance from the director, it could've been much more enjoyable and much less cringe-worthy.

I really need to find some good Carlisle centric fanfiction. So far, the best fic I've found is "Unsaid" by tju_tju_tju_tju. If you have any tips, let me know, please!

Kristen Stewart has confirmed she's reprising her role as Snow White in a sequel to last summer's blockbuster "Snow White and the Huntsman."

(...)

When asked if she could provide a hint of where the second installment will go, Stewart revealed, "I’m not allowed. The other day I said that there was a strong possibility that we’re going to make a sequel, and that’s very true, but everyone was like, 'Whoa, stop talking about it.' So no, I’m totally not allowed to talk about it."

Stewart did clarify, however, that the storyline justifies the sequel.

I'm glad! And now I'm just crossing my fingers and toes that they don't marry Snow off to William, that would piss me off.

According to ScreenRant - link - Kristen Stewart signed in for the SWATH sequel after all! In the meantime, director Rupert Sanders is out. The movie will presumably be based on David Koepp's script and start filming in late 2013. I guess they will have to accommodate Chris Hemsworth's schedule because after Thor: The Dark World, he will be in Steven Spielberg's Robopocalypse (with Anne Hathaway!), then in Candy Store and then in The Avengers 2.

I'm so glad that she will be back - and Sanders is out; what SWATH needed was a better director with an eye for tight storytelling. But Snow and Erik's story made the movie for me! I mean, TPTB still could screw it up, they could marry off Snow to William which would totally invalidate the fact that spoilers ) but at least there's the POSSIBILITY that we COULD get a great film about Snow and Erik. At this point, I'll take that.

Yup, the movie still works for me - and still for the very same reasons: Snow White and Eric the Huntsman. These two, together, they are the reason why I love it so much. Their scenes. Everything else is just me waiting for them to pop up on the screen again, preferably together. I have so much love for them, they are, hands down, one of my favorite movie couples of the year.

Which is why I would prefer NO sequel if making one would mean dropping Kristen Stewart's Snow. I love Chris Hemsworth, Thor is my favorite Avenger etc. and so on. But SWATH worked because of BOTH actors and both parts, Snow and Eric. The possibility of Snow and Eric becoming a couple made the ending so sweet. Eric going off on his own and Snow marrying William would pretty much destroy that. So, NO!

Which brings me to my favorite scene: the ending...

... Perfection. Pure perfection. Exactly what I wanted from the movie. No huge declarations and passionate kisses because Snow wanted, first and foremost, peace for her kingdom, the movie wasn't about finding The One, the perfect love. That part was pretty much accidental for both Snow and Eric and I liked how understated it was. As I said, that bit was perfection pure.

Also, everybody and their uncle praised Charlize Theron for her part but, IMHO, she overplayed it like whoa in some places. I very much preferred Kristen's acting here. She was really good!

And now Deadline reports that Universal's NOT dropping Kristen Stewart after all. Universal's official statement says: "We are extremely proud of Snow White And The Huntsman and we’re currently exploring all options to continue the franchise. Any reports that Kristen Stewart has been dropped are false." Huh.

Was it all a stunt to test the waters and see what would happen if they did drop her? And because it all went downhill and made them look like misogynist pricks, they backtracked and now they say nothing like that has ever been said or even suggested? Did the reports get it wrong or is Universal trying to save its own butt?

*hands* I really don't care either way. I just want a sequel, NOT a spin-off, with Snow and Huntsman being totally awesome together, her as the queen and him as her bodyguard/confidant. Because that would rock like whoa! Can't Hollywood just make movies and get rid of the personal, real life drama? I know that some people enjoy it but I don't. I don't care much about the personal life of actors, I just want them to make good movies!
katikat: (SWATH_Snow)

So, it's been splashed all over the media that Kristen Stewart cheated on her BF with the - married! - SWATH director Rupert Sanders. And the result is? Universal dropped Kristen Stewart from the SWATH sequel but Sanders might still direct it! Source. And not just that, Universal broke all ties with Stewart but just bought another stuff for Sanders to direct, the book "90 Church", as Deadline reports (sorry, LJ doesn't allow linking to Deadline's articles)!

Are they for real?! As actors like Sophia Bush and Clark Gregg posted on Twitter, this stinks of double standards and misogyny to the high heaven! So, a woman and a man cheat on their partners and the woman loses her job and the man not only keeps it but gets a reward? What the fuckity fuck! I hate, hate, HATE cheaters but this is taking it a dozens steps too far! Convicted felons get hired in Hollywood and Kristen Stewart is dropped because she cheated on her BF?! I didn't see anyone dropping Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp over the same thing and their latest movies earned less than Stewart's! I'm literally seeing red now.

Now they want to turn the sequel into a spin-off, focusing on the Huntsman. I did like Chris Hemsworth in that part but for me, the movie was so good because of BOTH, Snow and the Huntsman! They were amazing in their roles - which I couldn't say about the directing because one of the movie's problems was the pacing. And instead of fixing that by hiring a new director, they drop the movie's star... My excitement for the sequel-now-spin-off dropped to a minimum.

... I think the trailer for Breaking Dawn p. 2 looks great:

I really liked the books and I plan to watch all the movies once the series is done. I thought the stand-off between the Cullens and the Volturi was quite something and though Bella was a bit too vain for my liking, I did like her loyalty to her new family and her determination to do what SHE wanted, not what everybody else thought was good for her.
katikat: (SWATH_Snow)
The more people bash something, the more pro-this-thing I become - and the more hyped something this, the more it turns me off. Yes, I'm contrary like that. Right now? I'm becoming a big fan of...

Kristen Stewart!

I think she's very, very beautiful and a good actress. And the more crap I see people heap on her, the more I like her. She seems like a genuinely nice, introverted person. Her cast mates from SWATH, Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron, talk about her with genuine warmth, like when Chris mentioned she showed him a private copy of her new movie and he thought she was amazing in it.

So yeah, no bashing her in this journal. You don't like her? Good for you, keep it in your LJ. This journal is now pro-Kristen Stewart!
