This picture... I can't stop staring at it. They obviously had so much fun together.

Found in [livejournal.com profile] takmarierah's LJ.

Seeing this, it kinda bums me even more that they won't be together in Trance :(

And then this: link. "You've never looked more beautiful, darling." Oh gosh, GOSH! I bet they had a blast filming that scene XD

Extras on...

Regular DVDs )

On Blu-Ray )

5 deleted scenes and THAT'S IT?! No Making Of, no audio commentary, no gag reel, nothing? Just 5 measly deleted scenes? I don't own a BR player and my comp couldn't handle it anyway, let alone our ancient TV set. Well that sucks!

And the R2 version won't be out till Oct. 31, too! November in Czech Republic even. That's adding insult to injury, seriously, because it will be out in early September in the US already.

BTS!

BTS vids and pics from The Avengers can be found here. OMGOMGOMG! Thor and Captain America kicking ass & Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth giggling and having fun andandand... Chris Hemsworth is TALL!!! \o/

ETA: Another Captain America vid. Man, I can see so much h/c springing from these vids.

Oh my, I can't wait for this movie! I haven't been this excited about an upcoming film in... forever! This is even topping my Fast&Furious glee! And just knowing that there will be Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 and hopefully, hopefully also Captain America 2 makes me so, so happy!

I would be even bouncier if they announced an XMFC sequel but alas, still nothing. Maybe they are waiting to see how Wolverine will do next year? Or how well the DVDs will sell this September? But I think that the longer they wait with the announcement, the less likely a sequel is, unfortunately :(

Some BTS pics from The Avengers are popping up - like this one...

... More pics from yesterday's shooting here. I'm so looking forward to the movie!

Also...

A sweet pic of Chris Hemsworth and his younger brother Liam who also auditioned for the part of Thor, didn't get it - obviously ;P - but got a part in The Hunger Games instead.

Also, XMFC broke $350 mil. worldwide! Woohoo! *throws confetti*

I love what Mark Gatiss said about Sherlock: "Mark Gatiss has suggested that the forthcoming series of Sherlock will delve deeper into Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson's friendship." Link.

According to Comic Book Movie, XMFC is the best reviewed comic book movie of this year! YAY \o/! Link!

Comic Book Movie site posted an interesting article where they talk about the possibility of a XMFC sequel and what various people said about it. My favorite parts?

Much to everyone's surprise, the movie was quite good and performed very well at the box office. Naturally, Fox Studios is thinking franchise and the actors have been discussing the planned trilogy all summer long. (...) Furthermore, with a budget of $150M and a box office revenue of $348,728,454, I'd say a sequel is all but guaranteed.

Well, the budget was actually $160 mil. and with a little luck, it'll gain $350 mil. worldwide before it's pulled. But I love the "all but guaranteed"!

What James McAvoy said:

“Ideally you have a story arc that lasts three movies and at the end of the third it leaves you ready for the story in X-Men 1. It would be nice to explore things in two more films. I’ve lots of ideas. I know Michael and I are very much on the same page all the time and we’ll be weighing in to protect that relationship between the two characters. The next movie, if there is one, shouldn’t just start off with them being pals again, but I think it also shouldn’t be like the first movies only set in the 1960s. If we get another, let’s not just make Magneto the bad guy; of course he’s a bad-ass and of course he has a whole different ethos, but making a movie that is black-and-white is going to lose the thing that we have in this one.”

It makes me happy that James and Michael can add their own and that they want to protect the relationship between Charles and Erik. It just makes me all gooey on the inside!

What Matthew Vaughn said:

“I’ve got some ideas for the opening for the next film. I thought it would be fun to open with the Kennedy Assassination, and we reveal that the magic bullet was controlled by Magneto. That would explain the physics of it, and we see that he’s pissed off because Kennedy took all the credit for saving the world and mutants weren’t even mentioned. And we could go from there, and I’ve got some fun ideas about what other mutants to bring in. (...) If the film’s a hit, of course I’d be interested. I really enjoyed making it. We will only have one more new character. (...) Because, I think, as Professor X is in a wheelchair, Magneto needs to have a nemesis he can fight with. Someone that will be his equal. I know who it is.”

That has me so intrigued! Man, it looks like he thought about it a lot already! Please, Fox, please, make it happen! Give us bad-ass!Magneto and more Erik&Charles. Please? With a cherry on top? Because, at first, I was a bit nervous that they would ruin the main relationship, that they would sacrifice it for more... I don't know what. But if both Michael and James can weigh in on it - and we all know just how they view their characters' relationship... YAY \o/

Also, I didn't know that Stan Lee, the author of X-Men, wanted to make Charles and Erik brothers! Wow. That would've been awesome in itself! Because I don't have to have slash, a deep, profound bond between two men, a real bromance, is more than enough for me...
katikat: (thor)
Saw Captain America today and I can honestly say that Chris Evans was the best thing about the movie. He was so sweet and earnest and charming. I liked the movie but it lacked the necessary... umpf to top Thor, IMHO. To be perfectly honest, for me as a non-American, it was pretty silly, almost laughable in its over the top patriotism. Thor felt much more... approachable for me as a European.

ETA: I get where the patriotism is coming from - the era, the comic book, etc. and so on - it doesn't change the fact that it felt... ridiculous in places.

My spoilery thoughts... )

I haven't seen any slash in this movie, no matter what anybody says, it was all Steve/Peggy for me *shrugs*

Oh, funny story. I knew that there was a scene after the end titles so we stayed, me and the twins - and we were the only one in the whole theater! The cleaning crew was shuffling impatiently by the door the whole time, cursing our butts, I guess. But we wanted to see it and we didn't budge! Ha! The trailer for The Avengers looked awesome!

So, this year's movies?

1. X-Men: First Class
2. Thor
3. Fast Five
4. Captain America

Am I forgetting something? Also, we saw the trailers for Super 8 (still not interested), The Adventures of Tintin (not interested either), Green Lantern (still meh looking) and Immortals (not bad but I need to see a different trailer, I think).

Moira!

I talk a lot about XMFC and about the greatness that's Charles&Erik. But! My third favorite character in the movie is Moira MacTaggert. Why? Because she's rocking awesome, the girl!

Gorgeous, brave and strong and if Charles couldn't get together with Erik - and let's face it, in today's Hollywood he won't - I would love to see him with Moira. They were so sweet together! But it's tragically funny that spoilers for the movie! ) So yeah, Moira FTW! \o/

Pictures cut! )

The last one is my favorite! And it looks like that one will be on the "plain" DVDs, the rest seems to be blu-ray only. Man, I can't wait for the DVD to come out. I think I'll order it from the US, to get my hands on it ASAP. The Czech version doesn't come out until November and I'm not sure if it'll carry all the extras...
katikat: (xmen-dvd-erik)
Details here. The DVD should be out on Sept. 9! I just hope that "hours of special features" will be on plain DVDs too!

The covers:

Love it! *_* Aren't they both simply gorgeous? *happy sigh*

I posted this fic idea in [livejournal.com profile] 1stclass_kink:

I would like to read a story where Charles used to be a volunteer in Africa and he gave his job and the people he fell in love with over there everything and more, physically, psychically, that it lead to his physical and mental breakdown. Now he's living in the US, organizing charity to help somehow, because the doctors strictly forbid him any strenuous activity. Cue in Erik who used to be a mercenary in Africa but couldn't take the cruelty of the corrupt government over there and left, maybe killing a dictator of some kind over there first, so he can't go back either. But he doesn't know what Charles did in the past and when he sees him, he thinks "a pampered rich white boy who knows nothing about life," of course.

Yeah, it's partially inspired by The Last King of Scotland, I freely admit it - which I still haven't seen yet - and I think it would fit the characters of Charles and Erik perfectly.

You know, I'm more of a written word kinda gal, not really into drawings/paintings, but these two artists and their XMFC fanart do things to me: gikun and loobeeinthesky. Wow, just wow. I wish I could paint/draw like that... *_*

... For an "Erik comes back to Charles" fic, seriously:

Coming home to your shelter
Coming home where I stay

I go down in your water and I won't turn away

Coming back to your calling
I can hear your voice say

Coming home for tomorrow from my dreams of yesterday

You may not understand me but I hear you so well

Your voice comes in the cold wind, a tune I know so well

I can see you through any darkness
Your light it leads me on

I'm coming back to your orchard
Coming back to my home

People ask me where are you going, and I know I know what they think
I get tired , tired of their questions so I must find a way

To meet you down at the old grounds, where we used to pray

I'm coming home for tomorrow from my dreams of yesterday

Lizz Wright's Coming Home.

I'm not into fan mixes and stuff like that, but I was reading a fic, listening to Lizz Wright's album, and suddenly, I went, "Wait a minute!" So yeah *shrugs*
katikat: (CBM_XMen)
Despite Charles' protests, Erik does manage to subdue and mostly eradicate humans and build an almost exclusive mutant society. He's oh so proud of it and doesn't understand Charles' sadness. But Charles knows better by now, he knows that Erik's utopia won't last. And he's right. Soon, mutants with physical abilities start rallying against those with mental powers, telepaths, empaths and the like, saying they fear them, what they could do. They demand them singled out and clearly identified so that everybody can see of whom to be wary. Erik's horrified, insisting that they are all mutants, after all - but the protesters point out that he was among the first who distrusted telepaths, even his closest friend, showing it clearly by putting on his helmet and they are just following his example. Erik tries to stop this madness but it gets out of hand fast and soon, telepaths are being hunted down and experimented on to find a way to block their abilities, with Charles on the top of the list as the most famous and strongest telepath of all. With their roles reversed, Erik now tries to help telepaths hide in a society bent on destroying them, basically proving that it doesn't matter if it's a human or a mutant, their natures are the same, and that you can't build a society on usurping the rights of a certain group within it.

So yeah, pretty bleak, huh? But, IMHO, very, very real. I think that in the movie, Charles and Erik were both arrogant and naive. I see people talk about how Charles was wrong when he thought he knew better - but so was Erik, who was equally naive thinking that an all-mutant society could be just, a society of equals.
