Captain America

Saw Captain America today and I can honestly say that Chris Evans was the best thing about the movie. He was so sweet and earnest and charming. I liked the movie but it lacked the necessary... umpf to top Thor, IMHO. To be perfectly honest, for me as a non-American, it was pretty silly, almost laughable in its over the top patriotism. Thor felt much more... approachable for me as a European.
ETA: I get where the patriotism is coming from - the era, the comic book, etc. and so on - it doesn't change the fact that it felt... ridiculous in places.
I liked the way they filmed skinny!Steve, that was really well done. And OMG, Chris Evans is gorgeous, his face, his body... Wow! *_*
Peggy was awesome. I loved it when she punched that macho soldier. Too bad that Steve and Peggy's romance had no happy ending :(
The whole Red Skull plot was rather... silly. The whole theater LOL'd when they saluted "Hail Hydra" which I think was not the reaction they wanted.
I liked Col. Phillips, Dr. Erskine and Howard Stark. I liked Steve's team, the Japanese guy from Jersey was awesome!
And Michael Brandon as Senator Brandt! Michael Brandon!!! Dempsey from Dempsey and Makepeace! Eee!
I was sorry to see Bucky die. On the other hand, I think his death served as the necessary push for Steve to go after Red Skull directly.
I haven't seen any slash in this movie, no matter what anybody says, it was all Steve/Peggy for me *shrugs*
Oh, funny story. I knew that there was a scene after the end titles so we stayed, me and the twins - and we were the only one in the whole theater! The cleaning crew was shuffling impatiently by the door the whole time, cursing our butts, I guess. But we wanted to see it and we didn't budge! Ha! The trailer for The Avengers looked awesome!
So, this year's movies?
1. X-Men: First Class
2. Thor
3. Fast Five
4. Captain America
Am I forgetting something? Also, we saw the trailers for Super 8 (still not interested), The Adventures of Tintin (not interested either), Green Lantern (still meh looking) and Immortals (not bad but I need to see a different trailer, I think).
