Tonight, I watched the full-length BN pilot. It was better than I remembered. But I'm still missing the... WOW-factor. I'm starting to warm up to Jeffrey Donovan aka Michael Westen but all the other characters felt rather flat or over-played. The pilot basically established that Michael is the sun and everybody else is planets circling around him. I'm sure that they'll get fleshed out in future episodes, of that I have no doubt - but I don't feel the chemistry yet, if you know what I mean. When I compare it to White Collar's pilot - that one I've seen 4 times in one day, I was so floored. It had the WOW-factor from the get-go. I think it'll take me some time to warm up to BN, on the other hand.

But the music, the setting - you know what that reminded me off? Fast&Furious!

And BN vs. WhiCo - Miami or New York? Miami's hot, but NY is sleek! I prefer NY, I think.

I agree with you that WC is definitely the better show - from the get-go. BN is really a repackaged buddy-version of The Pretender. Man with a mystery helping out strangers, sans creepy angst.

I think the biggest difference between the two shows is that BN is, at it's heart, about the action (F&F reference spot on), while WC is about the relationship.

But I've always found it very enjoyable, and hope you stick with it.

I bought the first season on DVD so I'll definitely watch at least that :)

It's weird because for me, F&F has never been about the cars/action but about the relationship between Dom and Brian. Sure, the cars are hot and they get your heart pumping but then comes a scene like the one with Dom and Brian in Dom's garage in F&F4 and I'm floored.

And I'm really glad that the WhiCo writers decided not to copy BN and concentrate more on the relationship between the guys and make it the most important part of the show! It's awesome!

I don't know. I loved Bruce Campbell in Brisco County or in Xena/Hercules - but here, he feels... sleazy/slimy with his Hawaiian shirt and gold chains and drooling after young girls...

have you seen Bubba ho-tep, you'll forgive him anything after that, he plays a straight role that was asking for crack
and the wonderful my name is bruce where he plays b movie actor bruce campbell who is mistaken for a demon slayer by a teenage boy after said child releases an ancient chinese warrior god on his town

The pilot of BN isn't great, because of Fi's AWFUL attempt at an irish accent. She drops this is the season proper, and then get a different actress to play Micheal's mum. Both of these things are big improvements so its worth sticking with it. Its not a show I'd want on DVD, but its enjoyable enough

I heard about the accent - but I think Michael's mom stays the same, Sharon Gless *scratches head*

Yup, it's the same actress - from the Cagney&Lacey and Queer as Folk US fame - just with a different hairdo.
