Burn Notice 101
Mar. 8th, 2010 10:48 pmTonight, I watched the full-length BN pilot. It was better than I remembered. But I'm still missing the... WOW-factor. I'm starting to warm up to Jeffrey Donovan aka Michael Westen but all the other characters felt rather flat or over-played. The pilot basically established that Michael is the sun and everybody else is planets circling around him. I'm sure that they'll get fleshed out in future episodes, of that I have no doubt - but I don't feel the chemistry yet, if you know what I mean. When I compare it to White Collar's pilot - that one I've seen 4 times in one day, I was so floored. It had the WOW-factor from the get-go. I think it'll take me some time to warm up to BN, on the other hand.
But the music, the setting - you know what that reminded me off? Fast&Furious!
And BN vs. WhiCo - Miami or New York? Miami's hot, but NY is sleek! I prefer NY, I think.

Date: 2010-03-08 09:55 pm (UTC)I think the biggest difference between the two shows is that BN is, at it's heart, about the action (F&F reference spot on), while WC is about the relationship.
But I've always found it very enjoyable, and hope you stick with it.

Date: 2010-03-08 10:50 pm (UTC)It's weird because for me, F&F has never been about the cars/action but about the relationship between Dom and Brian. Sure, the cars are hot and they get your heart pumping but then comes a scene like the one with Dom and Brian in Dom's garage in F&F4 and I'm floored.
And I'm really glad that the WhiCo writers decided not to copy BN and concentrate more on the relationship between the guys and make it the most important part of the show! It's awesome!
