Oh, brother
Oct. 2nd, 2009 08:44 pmBrothers, my squee, my kink! My favorite brothers?
TV:
Sam and Dean Winchesters (Supernatural): Duh! ;) Those two are my holy grail of brotherly love. Nothing can surpass them. And the amazing chemistry between Jared and Jensen makes these brothers nigh perfect!
Chris and Wyatt Halliwell (Charmed): My, oh my. Those two had like two eps together, but in those two eps - sparkles! Chris Crossed? Still rocking my socks. In the whole series, nothing moved me to tears like Chris' death. After he died, I lost interest in the show. I mean, Chris loved his brother so much, that he sacrificed everything to save him.
Never liked the Petrellis in Heroes or the brothers in Prison Break and these days, even the Eppes bros from Numb3rs disappoint me :(
Books:
Ukiah Oregon and Atticus Steele ("Dog Warrior" by Wen Spencer): Atticus appeared only in the last book of the Ukiah Oregon series but wow, I fell in love with him. The way he and Ukiah were ~aware~ of each other thanks to their connection. Wow!
Deymorin and Mikhyel ("Dance of the Rings" trilogy by Jane S. Fancher): Wow, talk about slashy subtext! Fancher almost turned it into ~text~. I mean, they both felt more than brotherly love for each other, much, much more - it was said and shown, Mikhyel even offered! - and once they got over their misunderstanding, their whole world started to turn around one another, despite their love interests. Wow!
Anime:
Diamond and Sapphire (Sailor Moon): I still get all teary eyed when the Wiseman kills Sapphire and Diamond can only watch. When Diamond then appears, picks his brother's body up and carries him away in his arms... Yup, still teary eyed!
And which brothers do you like best, my dear flist? Help me out, here! Books, movies, series, anime, comic books, manga - ANYTHING!

Date: 2009-10-02 08:10 pm (UTC)Fullmetal Alchemist is a fantastic anime about two brothers Ed and Al, who are willing to or actually do give up everything for each other. I highly recommend watching the anime (and the subsequent movie The Conqueror of Shambala). I'm not sure what's going on with the manga though.
Okay, before I mention this next one that I love, have you ever read Havemercy by Jaida Jones and Danielle Bennett?
Also, supposedly some time this year, a movie called Do Começo ao Fim (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1440741/) (From Beginning to End) is going to come out (in Brazil? maybe the US later?), and its focus is the lives and romantic relationship between two brothers. You can check out a trailer here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DVa2DKSnU0).
While not brothers, per se, I feel like I have to mention the anime and manga Koi Kaze, which is a beautiful story of the growing romantic relationship between a brother and sister. I definitely highly, highly, highly recommend it!
PS: I just realized that I actually own the Dance of the Rings trilogy and haven't gotten around to reading it yet! Oops? Well, this is definitely boosting it upwards on my To Be Read list! :p

Date: 2009-10-02 08:41 pm (UTC)FMA was an excellent anime. I cried like a little kid for the Elric brothers :(
BTW, speaking about manga: There's a gorgeous manga by Hirotaka Kisaragi called "BrotherxBrother" very incesty.
I heard about Havemercy. Is it good?
Fancher's series is awesome. It's not full of action, more political intrigue but you have awesome brothers, lotsa angst centered around Mikhyel, a person of both sexes, kick-ass female...
And there's also the anime Night Head Genesis that I plan to buy in manga form - first vol. comes out this fall - if you think that Sam and Dean are close, you should see those brothers O.o And it's drawn by You Higuri, which is always a plus.

Date: 2009-10-03 11:59 pm (UTC)FMA is so incredibly awesome. Have you seen the second season though? I only saw the first one or two episodes, but I wasn't impressed, which is sad.
I have BrotherxBrother! (I think it's around here somewhere...) It was pretty good, IIRC.
Oo, You Higuri! I'll have to check that out when it comes out. :D Is the anime itself good?
Havemercy: It's written by Jaida Jones (aka:

Harry and Thomas (The Dresden Files)
Thom and Rook (Havemercy)
Ed and Al (Fullmetal Alchemist)
Luffy and Ace (One Piece)
Hikaru and Kaoru (Ouran Highschool Host Club)
Fred and George (Harry Potter)
I didn't like the Petrellis much either. Or any of the other Heroes characters, for that matter. Or anything else about the show. Yet for some bizarre reason I still didn't give up on it until the beginning of the 3rd season.
Did like Prison Break, and did like Michael. Lincoln... not so much.

Date: 2009-10-03 10:39 am (UTC)Nick and Alan (The Demon's Lexicon) --> I bought the book and I'm quite looking forward to it!
Harry and Thomas (The Dresden Files) --> In which book does Thomas appear?
Thom and Rook (Havemercy) --> Ordered!
Ed and Al (Fullmetal Alchemist) --> Those two were adorable but so sad :(
Luffy and Ace (One Piece) --> Never watched the anime. Couldn't get over the animation.
Hikaru and Kaoru (Ouran Highschool Host Club) --> So funny! Need to continue buying the manga!
Fred and George (Harry Potter) --> Read only Book 1...
If you like Sam and Dean and their obsession with each other, you might like the anime/manga Night Head Genesis...

Date: 2009-10-03 01:51 pm (UTC)One Piece: A lot of people seem to hate the style. I always thought it was cute. In a quirkily unique sort of way. P:
Night Head Genesis: [starts downloading] It doesn't have a depressing ending, does it?
