So, they are finally bringing Blood Ties out on DVD. But! They split the 22 episodes that are everywhere but on Lifetime considered one season into two box sets: the first one will contain 12 episodes, the second one 10. The first one will be out on June 2nd and it will include a behind the scene featurette as a bonus material - and it'll cost $26.99!!! That means that the so called S2 will cost around 20 bucks too! Are they crazy? Sorry, but not even the featurette, the only bonus material, is worth this amount of money. I'm now very glad that I bought the R2 version last year: I got the whole show for not even 9 pounds! Ha! X(

The cost of DVDs drives me to distraction. I wanted to buy the Christopher Eccleston season of Doctor Who the other day. It was 13 episodes, and they wanted over £40 (that's around $70 I think). For 13 eps! If I wanted to buy Merlin I would have to buy it in 2 box sets, each with 7 (I think) eps on, for £25 a set! And I've already technically paid for them, because I've paid my TV licence!

Grrrr!

Yes, I wanted to buy Torchwood but for that price? No frickin' way! Also, it bothers me that Amazon.co.uk often offers R2 of American shows cheap but without the bonus material that's available on the US DVDs - and they do not warn you about that!

I know! Like, I don't have the gag reel on my s1 spn DVD, or on my s4 SGA one.

And customs charges have changed now which means it's really expensive for me to buy from amazon.com or amazon.ca.

Oh yes, I was tricked so with NCIS S4. They explicitly said that the audio commentaries were included - and they weren't. I got so mad... But never again. I will buy books from Amazon.co.uk alright, but not DVDs.

And my customs actually got cheaper - I don't pay VAT or customs from when ordering from the US up to 150€.

But the shipping costs are something awful, both from US and UK. 7 bucks from the US and 5 pounds from the UK. It's actually cheaper for me to get it shipped from overseas! X( The cheapest shipping for me is from Amazon.de - they charge you 6€ regardless of how many books/DVDs you order whereas the UK and US Amazon keeps adding shipping costs with every item.

Why am I not surprised?

It didn't really surprise me either. Disappoint, yes. Surprise, no.
