Male heroes?

Dear gods of books, what happened to the good old male heroes? These days, every frickin' paranormal book has to have a female heroine as the main player. How... unoriginal, really. I mean, Hamilton's Anita Blake, Douglas' Delilah Street, Vaughn's Kitty Norville, Saintcrow's Dante Valentine, Stein's Anna Strong, Black's Morgan Kinsley... And those are just the first ones that popped up on my Amazon page! There are so few Harry Dresdens and John Taylors or Tony Fosters that it's getting ridiculous! I mean, come on! Some variety would be nice there, really!

Ooh, we really like the Dresden Files show and I've been meaning to buy the books, are they good?

I liked the TV show better. The books seem... I don't know, they just drag too much for my liking and Harry sounds too much like a hypocrite in some places :(
