So, last night, the CW aired new episodes of their reality show Crowned and the new teeny soap opera Gossip Girl (I heard that the books are better than the show but I didn't read them and neither did I see the show, yet). But why am I talking about it? Neither of them drew in more than 1.8 mil. viewers. With new eps. And no real competition on a Wednesday night. That's like 1 mil. less than the week before. I mean, huh? What's going on? Didn't the CW promote them enough? I have no idea, I'm just curious... Last week, it was Smallville, now these series... The only CW show that got its usual numbers for a new episode was Supernatural.

Apparently, the new episodes of Torchwood will start airing on Jan. 26th in the US, only 10 days after their premiere in the UK. The BBC is obviously milking their best show for what's worth it :D I wanted to buy it on DVD, but sorry, as much as I love the show, 13-ep-series isn't worth 40 pounds or 55 bucks. No way, nuh uh :(

...Seriously? Just 1 million? :( I am so afraid that The CW is just going to flat-out run out of money. Then who's going to air Supernatural?! *frets*

Yup, it was just 1.8 mil. each. Usually, Crowned is like 2.5 mil. and GoGi 2.5-2.9 mil. On the one hand, it's bad because this network seems to be in some serious troubles. On the other hand, it's great new for SPN because compared to these numbers, SPN is a HIT! Over 3 mil. viewers in its 3rd season and in such a competition and with almost no promoting at all?

CW promotes a lot the 'Gossip girl'. I think SPN goes terrific with suck competition and soon, it'll have 'Lost' as opposite

True, but as I was told, Lost doesn't draw in as many viewers as Grey's Anatomy. Like 3 mil. less. The only thing that I'm afraid of is that both of the shows are more or less sci-fi/fantasy, similar genres even though their basic plot line is completely different. And a lot of SPN fans watch Lost too.

I think so close to the holidays people just assume all that`s shown are re-runs. Besides, Gossip Girl lives on i-tunes, not on TV.
Which proves the idiocy of the whole CW business concept of targeting the teen market. Those people have drastically changed their viewing habits, you doofuses. That worked 10 years ago in the WB glory days but not anymore.

Well, considering Warner Brothers seems to be the golden looking company right now, even looking to buy of CBS and they produce Supernatural so they get all the money of international sales, DVDs and merchandise.

Smallville is too old to make lots of money of it and Reaper doesn`t yet have proven its capability to do so. So there is a better chance for Supernatural in the case of the whole CW crumbling than for the other shows. Warner could look to sell it to cable or whatnot to keep the little money-machine going.

People also suspect that a) fans didn't even know that it was a new episode which is weird if they are fans and b) that the show depended heavily on its lead-in ANTM and since Crowned is a flop, it's dragging GoGi down with it.

TV Guide's reporters (like Matt Roush? Rush? argh!) suspect that Reaper won't survive the strike because the main story is not interesting enough to keep the show going and the ratings keep dropping, week by week. But well, it's the CW whose motto is "cancel the good stuff, keep the trash".

On the one hand, it makes me happy because compared to that, SPN really does look like a major HIT but on the other hand, the CW could land itself in major troubles with these low ratings.

But what in his opinion would the CW put on next fall? They just cancelled Life is Wild, Smallville may be gone and they will have no new Pilots to show whatsoever. They don`t have one single project in development. Also they can`t even fill all nights as it is at the moment.

Their reality shows are either fading or bombing so going heavy reality won`t be an option either.
If they cancel one more, they won`t have a schedule to speak of.

*eyes her DW dvds* ...yeah, about that...

*grins* well you can always wait and do what I did. Once a year DeepDiscount has a giant sale, half off, on one order (and you can have like ten dvds or whatever in that order) and that's how I came to own series 1&2 of the New Who.

So there's always that.

I will have to see about the sale. Kick me when they have it? There is lotsa series that I would love to buy on DVD.

*makes a note* Will do, it's about halfway through the year so you might want to start squirrling away the pennies. *grins*

How've you been lately doll? Is the annoying girl still the bane on your existance?

I'm good. Kinda headachy but that's because all I seem to do lately is work :D I so need to finish translating Hendee's "Rebel Fay" before the end of the year *crosses fingers*

What about you? All shopping done for the Xmas?

Heh, good I finished my last final yesterday so I'm in a bit of blissful state. *pets* poor babe, headaches are not of the fun.

I'm *mostly* done with shopping, I need to pick up a few more things but otherwise I just have to wait for everything to finally come in the mail. *grin* How about yourself?

I only buy gifts for my mum because she's the only close living relative that I have. So I always overdo it. This year, I have 24 books for her (mostly historical romances), a purse, two CDs, a DVD and a nightgown :D Oh, and two calendars! I even have them all wrapped already! I feel so proud of myself :D

*Claps* Wow, good on you for doing all that wrapping! And it's so much fun when you get to spoil one person, I'm sure she'll love her gifts. And booooks! It sounds like a dream to get 24 books for christmas.

A very very good dream. *giggle*

Oh man, I completely forgot to tell you. I watched Third Man Out! OMG it was soooo good! Especially since it was a made for tv movie I was suprised at how good the main actors were (and how damn adorable *squee*). I so want to see Shock To The System now.

My mum would never buy them for herself. She loves books but she's convinced that I'm wasting money when I buy things for HER. That's why I spoil her rotten whenever I get the chance :D

Yay! Third Man Out! Another Donald Strachey fan! *hugs you* I so love the movies. I want to buy them on DVD very soon because my copies of the movies are terrible!

Omg I know! *twirls* Jesus, he's so cute with Timothy and Dr. Watson!! *giggle* I have to read the books now though. I just do. I'll probably manage to get the movies after I actually have some money again. *sighs* School so drains everything.

It actually surprised me that they could get such great actors as Chad Allen and Sebastian Spence on such a small budget!

And when does your school start again?

*sighs* Jan. 14th and thankfully like the first week of classes is pretty light but I am *so* not looking forward to some of my classes this semester.

I think the problem with "Crowned," is that it's clearly a replacement show, and there was a decision that, to support the Writer's Strike, those wouldn't be watched.
