First things first, no matter what I say about this TV show, it's better than the books. Trust me, I read them. They did leave a lot of things out - they usually do when they turn books into movies or TV series - but here, it actually didn't hurt much. And the things they added made me squee! :D
Okay, lets take Harry. Paul Blackthorne... I love him in this role. He can do sarcastic very well :D The only thing that I don't like? His pronunciation. He lisps and sometimes, he's really hard to understand.
Now Bob. I don't have enough words to describe how much I love Bob. The show's Bob is intelligent, kind and he loves Harry something fierce. He isn't just a horny comic relief like in the books. Bob is Harry's mentor and his conscience from time to time. I love the ep where he sacrificed his mortality to save Harry. That one was amazing. And Terrence Mann just shines in this role!
And now the bad - and the bad is Lt. Murphy. That's the only thing that I miss from the books. In the books, Murphy is a spitfire on wheels who kicks and shoots and badmouths villains, she is not a meek woman hovering on the edge of a mental breakdown. So, yeah...
The show itself is good. Not excellent, not a must-see-the-day-i-downloaded-it show, but it's good. The stories are interesting, the special effects aren't bad either. But mostly? I watch it for the relationship between Harry and Bob. They rock together.
If I will buy this series on DVD? Maybe. I'm thinking about it...
